Bear School Astartes

Regardless of the circumstances, the ecological anomaly caused by the Deer-headed Spirit finally concluded with its sealing and banishment by the Demon Hunter.

The once eerily dense Valley of Miasma now appeared less sinister, more simply filthy and foul-smelling.

The Kirin soon lost interest in the pile of ashes left by the Deer-headed Spirit.

Under Lann’s prodding, it grumbled reluctantly, snorting as it approached the entrance to the hidden path blocked by boulders thrown by the Boud Dragon.

With a ’crack’ sound, it smashed a large stone into pieces with its broken horn.

Despite shivering in fear, two Elu cats with white fur and black faces meowed loudly and rushed forward with their eyes closed.

”We’re here to save you, meow!”

”Fluffy Ball, let’s go together, meow!”

The two kittens, faces brimming with a ’we’re doomed’ expression, swung their weapons wildly while their eyes remained shut.

The Grand Commander and Lann had to restrain their heads to bring them back to reality.

Afterward, the three cats sat together, survivors of the ordeal, meowing cheerfully.

Lann later picked up his [Flame Assault Crossbow], unfortunately,

In the intense battlefield earlier, due to the urgent need to switch weapons, Lann had thrown it to the ground.

Subsequently, the roots accelerated by the Deer-headed Spirit reduced it to fragments.

However, the good news was that the nearby body of the Boud Dragon was intact. Lann planned to use its materials to craft another crossbow for himself.

”Neeeigh!”

The Kirin let out a displeased cry.

Everything was already done, and these guys lingered around, annoying it.

What’s the point of staying in this broken place, the Valley of Miasma?

Later, if the ugly thing at the bottom wakes up and causes trouble, it wouldn’t care!

Lann had to communicate again using the [Yakxi Rune] to confirm that there was indeed a sleeping Elder Dragon beneath the Valley of Miasma.

The Demon Hunter swiftly collected the spoils with remarkable efficiency.

In no time, it was all done.

They had just fought the ancient dragon-level Deer-headed Spirit, and if it weren’t for the timely external aid they found, things would’ve turned dire today.

Lann definitely didn’t want to provoke another Elder Dragon now.

Under the shared consensus of ’run quickly,’ everyone’s actions quickened.

Before long, after the Fluffy Ball helped tidy up the Boud Dragon’s body, Lann hoisted a full bag of materials, and the group followed the Kirin’s lead out of the valley.

They returned uneventfully to the Land Coral Plateau, where the Kirin moved on.

But before leaving, the crystal-like red eyes of the Kirin swept over Lann up and down, and its moist nose drew near to sniff.

Lann had a feeling that the Kirin seemed to be pondering something about him.

Given the intelligence level of an Elder Dragon, it was indeed possible.

However, before Lann could use the modified [Yakxi Rune] again to engage in conversation, the Kirin dashed away in a flash.

The kelp by the roadside all bent down in unison.

”I thought it wanted to say ’goodbye’ or something.”

Lann said, exasperated, to the Grand Commander.

The blond, porcupine-haired giant patted his shoulder, chuckling.

”Who knows if Elder Dragons have the concept of ’goodbye,’ huh?”

Thus, the emergency ecological anomaly faced by the New Continent Expedition Team was formally resolved.

Lann, along with the Grand Commander and the Thief Adventurer Group, returned to the Star Base in the Ancient Tree Forest Region.

”So, this counts as delivery.”

In the forging area, the Second Period Team Leader stopped a rough yet powerful-looking heavy crossbow on the conveyor belt before them.

”[Boud Dragon’s Roar], this piece has some real force. Just like the ferocity of the Boud Dragon.”

The Second Period Team Leader, arms crossed, exuded an expected confidence in his craftsmanship.

”Also, I prepared ten clips of standard ammunition for you. You know how to craft the special ammo, so I won’t bother with that.”

”That’s enough, thank you.” Lann picked up the vicious-looking heavy crossbow from the conveyor belt.

With a professional and precise technique, he ’clack-clack’ examined the chamber, spring, and other mechanisms, completing the inspection before placing the clips in his alchemy pouch on his waist.

He reckoned that although he would take this weapon with him, he might not be willing to use it much in other worlds.

Because using the heavy crossbow required ammunition, which in this quasi-industrialized land was not considered rare.

However, in a Magic World, he’d probably need a skilled blacksmith to handcraft it all, and even then, he couldn’t be sure of the consistency.

Although the Second Period Team Leader prepared ten clips, considering Lann’s slightly hoarding mentality...

”Leaving today?”

The Second Period Team Leader asked as he watched Lann use his ’little trick’ to store away the heavy crossbow.

”Yes, today it is.”

Lann lifted his necklace, and the roaring bear head trembled independently, reflecting the tides of Chaos Magic Power.

”I won’t see you off, after all, someone has to watch this big furnace.”

With heat-resistant gloves, the hand gestured with a thumb towards the glowing furnace behind him.

”But I still have to give you a parting gift.”

That calm tone sounded less like a farewell, more as if Lann were just going out for an ecological survey.

But real men often aren’t great at expressing emotions; this level of expression was just right.

The bald, one-eyed man gestured to the small shield emblem hanging on Lann’s waist, beckoning him over.

The Demon Hunter, somewhat puzzled, nonetheless unbuckled the small shield emblem given to him by the Commander-in-Chief, tossing it across the conveyor belt.

The Second Period Team Leader stood up from the stool, turned, and walked over to the anvil, whispering a few words to his apprentice before pulling out a pendant-like item from his pocket.

After a few simple motions, the pendant was separated and pressed into the center of the small shield emblem.

At the vortex’s center of the abstract white wind pattern.

Then, with some hammering and soft silver lining the corners and seams, followed by sanding, the Second Period Team Leader threw it directly back to Lann.

”[Quick Recovery Talisman]: it allows for swift recovery from injuries and weakness.”

As Lann examined the small shield emblem hammered for ten minutes, he listened to the Second Period Team Leader’s explanation.

On this small shield with the New Continent Expedition Team’s Fifth Period Team emblem, now in its center was embedded with a translucent object, impossible to determine the material, no bigger than a fingernail.

”What can I say... It’s one of our local Alchemy and Forging Skill combination results. By blending and smelting monster materials, the life energy is retained inside.”

”You mentioned that you’re a Hunter there as well, but the herbs over there aren’t as effective as here. So I made this for you.”
