Blood Awakening: The Strongest Hybrid and His Vampire Bride

Chapter 574: The Joys Of Getting To know You

Nikolai held Anya’s hand tight, their heads leaning together as a buzz suddenly shook his pants. He glanced down only to find a strange number calling him. With a sigh, he slid his finger across, accepting the call.

”Hello.”

He noticed Anya sleeping and tried to speak with a low, quiet tone.

But it sounded rough and violent.

”Patriarch Volkov, it’s me. Zara.”

With a sigh, he glanced at Anya once again, gently lifted her head, lay her on the cushioned sofa and scanned the room for a thick blanket.

From the sound of Princess Zara’s voice, he couldn’t help but frown, taking the blanket and placing it over Anya’s body.

’I guess she can’t wait much longer.’

”What’s the matter?”

Although she mentioned a contractual marriage with him, Nikolai couldn’t accept it. Not that he lacked interest in her. She was beautiful, and the Djinn race bore a unique, seductive charm that few could match.

”Well, I was just wondering... about...” Her voice broke up as she stuttered, or instead hesitated.

Zara usually came across as a proud, confident woman, but Nikolai noticed slight cracks in that persona. Mostly, it was with her family or the things she wanted to achieve that Madame Zara, who taught him Spirit Engineering, seemed vulnerable and lonely.

”Don’t rush, take it slowly.” He stroked Anya’s soft cheeks, occasionally enjoying the silky texture of her blonde hair as it fell across them.

Her breathing on the other side became calmer as she calmed herself.

Honestly, Nikolai understood Zara lacked the time to drag things out. Thanks to the changes in her homeland, time was of the essence.

However, he didn’t know the details and promised his wives these dates.

”Nn...”

Anya stirred on the sofa, her hand reaching out for something, as she frowned.

He placed his hand in hers, and she clasped it, satisfied, humming a soft moan and smiling.

After a few moments, the other side of his phone stirred. ”Sorry, I never wanted to rush you like this or to use your mother’s revival as a crutch to force you into action.” In his opinion, Zara wasn’t a wicked woman.

If anything, she’d helped him from the moment he met her, first by maintaining his mother’s soul using her clan’s special soul force. This power allowed him to overcome his initial weakness to the blood frenzy, tempering his mind and soul for future battles.

”Don’t apologise, honestly, I accepted your proposal with selfish desires...”

Not just his mother, but to attain such a beautiful and talented wife, Nikolai wasn’t a hypocrite and came clean.

”Eh?”

The sound of Zara’s voice changed; it was pretty cute.

”So just speak to me, although our relationship started in a rather forced manner. Since we are to become husband and wife...” He paused, thinking of the women he loved, adored and trusted. Nikolai didn’t want to treat Zara differently, just because it was a marriage of convenience. ”I don’t want a cold and heartless transactional relationship. If you need my help, I will give it willingly and hope you are willing to do the same.”

”Aha.” A nervous laugh came from the mature beauty’s lips. To the Djinn, their culture resembled that of the Middle East and the Arabian nations in the distant past. Women lacked rights and power; the very fact that she’d aim for the matriarchal seat was dangerous.

So when he spoke of supporting her, back in the operating room and now on the phone, she couldn’t help but feel a jolt shooting through her body. The Djinn were a mental and passionate race, although they could feel physical pleasure.

Their souls and minds were five times more sensitive than those of other races.

Mood was everything to them.

”Y-You’re quite the passionate man, aren’t you?”

”Hm?”

Nikolai tilted his head, noticing the subtle changes in her voice: it had grown more delicate, more charming, a little nasal. It was sexy enough to make his blood boil.

’She’s adorable for a dominant woman...’

He knew nothing about the Djinn, and she was experiencing this for the first time; it made a nice icebreaker, bringing a smile to her face.

”I can give you time if you need it, Nikolai.”

’She changed how she called me.’

The switch brought them closer; he no longer felt the subtle sense of distance between them, and his lips naturally curled into a smile.

”Honestly, I appreciate your honesty. So tell me when you need to return, Zara. I can always date my wives, or rush back to help them at any time.” His voice trailed off as a tapping sound came from the other side.

”I... well, a week? The situation is worse than I thought.”

On the other side of the call, Zara, who sat in one of the Volkov mansion rooms, tapped the wall behind her with seven pink arms made of her aura.

Djinn had four extra arms of flesh which could retract into their body like slime, but with double joints and the ability to extend; they were quite mystical to other races. They could forge or summon extra limbs made of pure aura and soul magic if needed.

Currently, all of Zara’s hands were fidgeting, her pink cheeks deeper—originally a pale pink, now a deep, bubblegum pink.

Despite knowing that the future would be a series of brutal battles, constant intrigue and the only ally she had suddenly transformed after getting married. Listening to Nikolai and his offer of help made the surface of her skin tingle.

She closed her eyes, rolling on the comfortable bed, her hands grasping the phone to avoid dropping the call.

They spoke about his plans, when and where they would meet.

”Are you sure you can make time for me while you’re so busy?!”

”Of course, why not... you’re the same as them.”

”!!!”

Nikolai couldn’t see her reactions to his comments, for the woman who lacked any serious romantic experience to face a blunt old husband who wasn’t shy and didn’t beat around the bush, her entire body became hot, almost bubbling with embarrassment.

’His deep voice is so sexy...’

”Eh!?” Shocked by her own thoughts, Zara covered her lips; only then did her reflection appear in the mirror.

Bright red.

Her entire body was scarlet from his teasing and flirtatious words.

Most parents raised female Djinn in a very moderate and conservative fashion, teaching them how to hide these emotional changes using their soul force. Thus, half a woman’s total soul force went towards deception and controlling their emotions.

Zara’s current state was when they stopped.

In reality, this kind of thing might be unsightly to her peers, but she couldn’t care less. To her, the changes she wanted to bring were exactly this!

The freedom to be who she was.

No longer being treated as mere trophies for the family. If a woman was talented, she deserved to be nurtured, to improve and grow just like the boys in a family.

”Do you need me to prepare anything, Zara?”

”Mm, not really...”

”Are you sure? Isn’t going back home dangerous? Do you need money, weapons, food or people?”

She enjoyed this strange bubbling feeling that grew each time he spoke, despite hearing another woman’s snoring on the other end. The warm tingle brought a smile to Zara’s lips.

At first, she thought Nikolai would be cold.

So, with him aiding her revenge, while also offering emotional support, Zara couldn’t stop these positive emotions from overwhelming her.

Meanwhile, for Nikolai, it was fun just learning more about his future wife.

At first, she seemed aloof and cold, but the more they chatted, the more he realised his thoughts were stupid. The time slowly passed, and Nikolai noticed the movements in the other room; it seemed his wives were awake.

With a smile on his lips, he brushed Anya’s hair behind her ears, noticing she had been faking sleep a long time ago.

’The jealousy of my wives is rather mild, haha.’

”How about we call each other once a day and discuss our plans?”

To form a bond, he couldn’t rush everything, and since they would enter a dangerous situation together, learning more about Zara was imperative.

”O-Oh... really?”

Her excited voice spilt through the phone, bringing a wolfish grin to his lips; somehow, he felt like a big bad wolf slowly cheating a little lamb into his bed.

”There’s a lot to talk about, and I want to know you better.”

”Mm, okay then. I will call you later, okay?”

With a series of bleeps, the call suddenly dropped, and Anya, who lay on his lap, suddenly grinned at him with her naughty little eyes. ”You’re going to eat that poor woman, and she won’t even know what happened!”

”Well, I can’t deny it.”

”You!” She tapped his chest before spreading her fingertips and caressing his muscles. ”Don’t you dare neglect me, or else.” Anya flashed her sharp fangs before leaning close and kissing his exposed abs with her soft, red lips.

”Behave, your sisters are awake. Let’s get some breakfast, okay?”

”Hmph~ my breakfast is right here.” She licked her lips slowly, while eyeing his body with her fangs extended.

”Such a lewd girl... what will I do with you?”

”Hehe~ You’re the one who slept with me.”

Nikolai covered his face and sighed.

This beauty and her sisters were almost too much to handle in one package.

He gently cupped her cheek, gazing down at her.

Then spanked her exposed thigh.

”Ahhhh!”

Before she could grab him, he slipped free and dashed towards the door, her little legs tapping the ground, chasing him.

”Nikolai! Get back here right now! I will bite you so hard!”
