Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2271: Ryn and Stone

The woman had her lips painted in an almost fluorescent blue. Her eyelashes were bold and dark, her pupils just ever so slightly slit. It was like she was on the verge of becoming a snake, but wasnʼt yet quite there.

She dressed like she was about to step into the most elegant and grand of ballrooms, her gown dragging along the ground in beautiful strands that layered atop of themselves in greens, violets, and blues… almost exactly like the tail of a peacock was following after her.

As elegant as the gown was in shape, in fabric… it was anything but. It was almost completely sheer, revealing the slender taper of her belly button and toned stomach.

Her breasts stood proud, only held up by an underlinement of thick wire. However, there was no pad hiding her nipples from the world. They shone through the sheer cloth as well, her breasts slightly swaying with her every movement.

Yet, this was far from the wildest thing about her style of dress. Down below, she wore no underwear at all. Instead, it was a thick mat of well-groomed hair that hid most of her private parts. If not for the band of string connecting the front to the back, one would have thought it was just another pair of panties.

However, it became all too obvious if one did trail behind her that she wasnʼt wearing any at all, her cheeks swaying independently and with so much freedom they jiggled more than even her breasts did.

As wildly as she dressed, though, very few if any at all dared to look anywhere but directly into her eyes.

Sylas didnʼt seem to get that memo.

He glanced at her from head to toe, his gaze not shifting or flickering about in the slightest.

A pulsing aura came from the man in the distance, but his pupils constricted when he realized that his Will fell into Sylasʼ own like a pebble in the vast ocean.

Sylas looked away from the woman slowly, his gaze landing on the man who probably thought he was well hidden.

He was not.

Plus, only having Fragmented Infinite Will and then attempting to shake Sylasʼ Will with a casual push was… nothing short of foolish.

Especially when, with Sylasʼ Void Comprehension, it was almost impossible for someone to find the core of his Will to attack in the first place.

That was to say that even if the man had had a Will higher than Sylasʼ own, he would have likely failed to do any real damage if he insisted on being casual about it.

The fact his Will was weaker and only supplemented to a higher level by his Tier…

Well, it made him look exceptionally foolish in Sylasʼ eyes.

Not that many more than the woman herself noticed what just happened.

Sylas wasnʼt one to let something like that go, though.

”If you want your woman to not be looked at, tell her to wear more layers. If you cannot, it sounds to me like she isnʼt your woman, so who do you think you are to attempt to pressure me?”

The man had been leaning against a pillar with his arms crossed, content to watch things from a distance without interfering. But when he heard this, he couldnʼt help but perk up and stand tall.

”What did you just say?”

Sylas slowly stood. He made a move to place Cheri down, but she clung to him like a koala bear. He looked down at her, shook his head, and didnʼt seem to care anymore.

Holding her up with a hand, he reached toward his back and pulled out his calligraphy brush. A sweeping aura spread into the surroundings.

Sylas took a step and walked by the woman as though she wasnʼt even here. She caught a whiff of his scent in the air and her nearly-slit pupils trembled just the slightest bit before she quickly regained her composure, her eyes widening with a hint of shock.

Luckily… the man did not see her expression from his position behind her.

ʼWhat just happened to you, Ryn?ʼ she thought to herself.

She was in such a daze she reacted a bit late and didnʼt feel it until things were beyond the point of return.

Sylas was standing in front of her partner, his eyes indifferent.

”You heard what I said perfectly well. So, instead of wasting my time, letʼs fight.”

Stone wasnʼt a man who got involved in political nonsense very often. He had always been an exceptional talent, always gotten exactly what he wanted, and the moment he managed to break into Legend, he would likely inherit the guild head position of the Stormfall Covenant.

He truly couldnʼt remember the last time someone had stepped up to him in this way.

So boldly, so indifferently, so without care that he had even brought forth a woman in his arms.

His brain short circuited. He didnʼt even know what to say or do at a moment like this one.

Stunned was the only word you could use to describe him.

”Wait.” Ryn called out before Stone could reply. ”Thereʼs no need for this.”

She vanished and appeared between Sylas and Stone, staring at Sylas seriously.

Another flash of rage seemed to awaken Stone from his stupor. Was Ryn trying to… protect him? Protect… him? Him of all people?

Ryn reached a hand back and pressed it against Stoneʼs chest to get him to calm down, and then she looked at Sylas again.

”He was overzealous, but I think you were wrong about his intentions. You did, after all, humiliate a disciple of his covenant. Itʼs only natural he might lash out. The members of the older generation shouldnʼt bully the young, right?”

Sylas might have scoffed if he was someone else. He was a member of the older generation, now? He was probably a fraction of Kessarinʼs age.

But Sylas didnʼt actually care.

”We can all resolve this quite easily. Simply tell us who you are and Iʼm sure all of this can end amiably.”

Sylas didnʼt reply with words. Instead…

He took out Nosphaleenʼs feather.
