Chapter 2258: A Grimblade? [Bonus]

[Bonus thanks to SongfulSalt. And when I do Iʼm going to do what Spain did to Argentina]

The Sage Heaven was the Heaven of Wisdom. To pin down their abilities was extremely difficult as they had the widest variability. Though Hell Ancestor Tera had been a Hell Creator, Hell Rune Creators werenʼt even necessarily the majority of their Heaven.

They just so happened to send one this time.

But… there was one unique Profession that the Sage Heaven did have. They called them the Decoders, Rune Masters capable of unwinding and dismantling any formation set before them.

They were the worst sort of enemy to have, because one moment a formation that had protected your Clan or Sect for countless generations would be standing tall and proud… And in the next moment you would find it crumbling before your eyes.

Vaelith had even read tales of these formations not just being destroyed, but even being turned against the ones that it once protected. Stories of the Decoders wiping out entire Clans with a single man by turning formations against their masters werenʼt nearly as rare as they should have been.

If there was a Heaven that could send one person to ruin an entire dynasty…

It was the Sage Heaven.

It was truly difficult to say which of these three Heavens was the absolute best of the lot. But if one were to pick one that just barely eked out victory from the others… It would certainly be the Sage Heaven. Their well-roundedness and flexibility in Path was simply unmatched. And when it came to the Cryst Heaven Creators who most often leaned toward Heaven Creation, and the Mesmer Heaven Creators who most often leaned toward Fathomless Creation… The Sage Heaven had an edge.

And they would certainly not let this matter lie down.

In Vaelithʼs opinion, the Thryskai should sit back and be patient, see how much pressure Sylas could withstand on his own.

Then they should decide whether to deliver water in a drought and food in a famine, or whether they should pour a vat of oil into burning embers.

But Vaelith had a feeling that this wouldnʼt happen.

Too much chaos was unfolding. The Myrrakhael had been wiped out. The Vaelryn had been pushed out. An unknown Demi-God Clan had ascended while they had all had their attention turned toward the so-called Sanctum.

And to top it all off, there was some mysterious figure silently gathering forces of the forgotten and abandoned Thryskai Demi-God Branches to their side.

Not long ago, it had felt like the universe had entered a lull, a longing sort of eerie peace that extended into forever and didnʼt seem to have an end.

Then, one after another, a shocking event was triggered.

And for some reason… Vaelith was so very sure it was related to this name.

ʼSylas Grimblade…ʼ

Vaelith looked up from the sealed crack and shook her head. She was going off to study once again. Before the chaos, how could she not take advantage of the change to the tower.

It was about time she reached C-tier Rune Creation.

Maybe she should thank this Sylas Grimblade.

Sylas sat in silence. He had entered a Nexus and was staring at a list.

His mother seemed to be with a guild called the Genesis Concord. His father was with a guild known as the Stormfall Covenant.

The main problem with all of this was that these two Guilds had the very same relationship with one another that the Weaver and Seeing Eye Guilds had back on the Mortal Plane.

The Genesis Concord was entirely female, a matriarchal society from top to bottom. And, surprisingly, the Stormfall Covenant was the exact opposite, having no women at all.

Somehow, their story was more twisted than Sylas could have ever guessed.

Despite being enemies, they seemed to be enemy lovers. Their offspring all came from one another, and to make matters worse, this was all decided the moment they were recruited.

There would be a war between new recruits, a clash between the two guilds in a neutral territory. Or, rather, a Dungeon they both shared.

Most would die, but some would end up in long, drawn out battles, some would choose one another.

The problem with this process was that it was anonymous. The deaths were very real, but the identities of who you were fighting and who you were choosing was unknown.

If his parents knew where one another were, this might not have been such a great worry for Sylas, he could trust them to recognize one another, or at least look for one another.

But for all his parents knew, they thought they were taken on their own. Let alone knowing how to look for one another, they might not even know they had to look in the first place.

How could they guess that not only were they taken at the same time, but not only that but they were placed next to each other in enemy guilds?

New recruits were given a month to acclimate themselves before this occurred. And the problem was that Sylas had already wasted several weeks on Earth after his parents were taken away, and even more time here.

What would he do if his parents died during the initiation ceremony? What if someone tried to force themselves upon them? What if in some sick twist of fate his parents actually ended up killing one another?

Sylas had been thinking about all of this, just staring at the list before him, not knowing what to do.

The more he thought, the worse the potential outcomes became and he wasnʼt even sure how to fix it.

Even the weak powers on the Demi-God Plane were just too much for him to handle alone. Even if the Genesis Concord and Stormfall Covenant Guilds didnʼt have S-tiers—something that Sylas couldnʼt even bet on given they were above the middle of the pack based on their strength alone… Sylas couldnʼt handle A-tiers either.

And this wasnʼt just one power, but two of them.

How was he going to make sure his parents got out unscathed? Would the Grimblade name be enough? Or would it only cause more trouble for them?

Somehow… Sylas already knew the answer to that question.

”A Grimblade?” A man blinked, and then grinned. ”I want her.”

”A Grimblade?” A woman touched a closed fan to her plump lips. ”I want him.”
