Chapter 2266: Your Woman

”Your… woman…?”

Cheri didnʼt know what to say. It felt like her mind had short circuited, nothing was working properly. This was already the second time that Sylas had done something like this to her despite the fact she was almost 100% sure that she had fully recovered the first time.

And yet, once again, here she was, so stunned and baffled her mind went blank.

Was she right? Could it be that Sylas really was an S-tier? In her mind, that was the only logical answer. Only a man of that caliber could possibly dare to say such a thing.

But if Sylas was so powerful, why was he hanging around here? Cheri wasnʼt actually 100% sure if their guilds had S-tiers or not, at least not what they presently showed or were willing to show to the world.

If an S-tier of the Grimblades really wanted someone back, then they could just swoop in with force and take them. Even if S-tiers of their guilds appeared, the mutual respect between some powerhouses would, in most cases, allow something like that to slide.

But, everything that Cheri had deduced told her that the Grimblades didnʼt have any S-tiers at all. That was why she was here in the first place.

So how could Sylas say something like that?

Well… she was actually quite wrong about the Grimblades not having any S-tiers. It was just that Sylas had no intention of using his pregnant concubine to do dirty work for him. He hadnʼt even considered asking the Duchess even once.

If anything, his mom might kill him for even suggesting it. At that point Sylas Grimblade would be no more.

Sylas didnʼt bother to dignify Cheriʼs confusion. He just sat there, waiting for an answer.

”That feather… is that not… the feather of a Goddess? I have felt its aura before. It is that of the Goddess that the Efivara worship... They are…”

Cheriʼs voice trailed off and she gulped. She had come here to see if there was something she could take advantage of, something that would work to her benefit.

But the questions that Sylas was asking… they were too taboo. If anyone ever found out she was answering such questions, it was over for her.

A pressure descended onto Cheri and it felt like she was being crushed. She, an absolute genius of the C-tier, couldnʼt even seem to meet Sylasʼ gaze at all.

Sylas stood, walking up to her and picking her up by the throat once again. Cheri subconsciously clawed at his hands, wanting to break free, but her pupils constricted when she couldnʼt even manage to break skin.

”If you do not answer, I will kill you, suck you dry of your Will, and extract the answers from it. Would you like to try that instead?”

Cheriʼs eyes widened. The only people who could do something like that were…

No, impossible. Even more impossible.

Sylasʼ Will would have to be strong enough to crush hers. The general rule of thumb was that Will within a body was far stronger than it was outside of it.

Taking Shaped, Forged, and Enlightened Will, for example. Those were three tiers of vastly different levels. Between them were will steps like ”Shaping,” ”Forging,” and ”Enlightening.”

However, even someone of Forged Will couldnʼt just barge into the mind of someone with only Shaped Will. It would take someone with Enlightened Will to do such a thing to someone with Shaped Will.

At higher levels, it was even more difficult.

Cheri had Enlightened Will. She was just on the verge of breaking through.

For Sylas to do something like that, he would need at least False Infinite Will.

However, something about his gaze made one thing very clear…

Sylas wasnʼt the sort to waste his time with lies, and she had very little time to decide.

”Iʼll speak—Iʼll speak!” she squeezed out.

Sylas released her, but he didnʼt move away, standing over the bed as he looked down at her.

Nosphaleen was a very sensitive spot for him, and he didnʼt have the patience to stand around waiting for a woman he didnʼt even know to decide whether she cared about her life enough to speak.

”Legacy—Legacy—!” Cheriʼs words were a bit incoherent as she rubbed her throat as though that would spare her from the bruises.

Sylasʼ eyes sharpened.

”We are affiliated with Legacy,” Cheri finally said. ”There is a branch of the Professors that have been studying the Sin Seeds for a very long time as a method of fixing the weaknesses the Heaven System has with Will Paths.

”Everyone believes that the other stats have already reached their limits and the only reason why the ceiling hasnʼt been broken through yet is because of a lack of methods to do the same with Will.

”The Sin Seeds have been measured and used in various forms on and off by a countless number of powers, but only particularly secret factions of Legacy have managed to make it a true decent distance forward.”

Sylas couldnʼt help but recall Wrath. He had been a pawn of a Thryskai Clan of the Mortal Plane—several of them, in fact. But ultimately, he was a poor representation and product.

Sylas killed him. It wasnʼt technically an easy victory, but considering Sylasʼ strength at the time, relatively speaking, it might as well have been.

”Our guilds have been working on forming a Lust Divinity for a long time now, but we havenʼt managed to do it. But we are not the only ones that have been trying. There are attempts for the other Sins as well, and of them, there has only been one successful, and one is on the verge of succeeding as well, but has not quite yet.”

Cheri took deep breaths as she forced the rest of her words out.

”How long has it been since they were successful?” Sylas asked.

”I donʼt know, I really donʼt know. Itʼs hard to tell because of the way the plan is set up… the time frame doesnʼt matter.”

Sylasʼ eyes narrowed as a realization overwhelmed him.
