Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2256: Welcome

Sylas couldnʼt read the description of the item at all, but when he tried to count the number of hairs that made up its brush head, it felt… Infinite.

It was like he was staring into the maw of the universe itself. This was a treasure that should have crushed him with its presence alone, but somehow it had been restrained to the point all of its power was contained without it losing much strength at all.

And it could be said that the only reason it lost any power in the first place was because of the loss of range. In close combat… it was just as powerful.

Sylas had never grown used to using weapons, so he hadnʼt actually experienced the feeling of being able to rely on something powerful.

At this point, his Rune Mastery was so powerful that he didnʼt need formal training in blacksmithing or crafting. He could probably just think of something he wanted to form and be capable of doing it.

But he never had. He didnʼt see the point.

If he could craft something that casually, then he could just create it instantly in battle too. Why waste time on that when he could just use his Runes?

This was what made Rune Creators so powerful.

But look at this weapon… Sylas could see the allure.

This wasnʼt just a weapon, it was seeping with Wills. It had grown a life of its own, following after the old man until it had grown to this point.

This was something that Sylas was somewhat on the way to replicating with the Grim Blade, but it wasnʼt exactly the same.

The Grim Blade he formed every time wasnʼt the same one. It was just a convenient method of using the Death Seal. He dismissed it and reformed it. It had no true physical form, and as such it grew only in relation to Sylasʼ Will, not on its own.

Now Sylas couldnʼt help but wonder… should he give it a true physical form?

As Sylas was lost in thought, the old man nodded one more time.

”Alright. That weapon should have all the Rune Armors youʼre looking for and then some too. Thatʼs everything.”

Sylas nodded, still lost in his thought.

”Yooouuuʼre welcome,” the old man said.

Sylas nodded again, still in his own thoughts.

”Agh, forget it. If you run into any of your martial nephews, have fun explaining why their masterʼs Will is subservient to yours. I would do it myself, but whereʼs the fun in that? I seem to have a problem with hot tempered disciples and apparently masters.”

Sylas finally looked up.

”Oh? That caught your attention? TOO BAD!” He waved happily. ”Bye bye!”

The world warped around them and when Sylasʼ vision cleared, he was standing over a familiar star covered in rotating Runes.

Sylas didnʼt really mind whatever the old man was saying. He didnʼt even learn his name now that he thought about it.

But Sylas had a feeling that he would learn about it soon enough.

Right now, he only cared about a few things, and many of them would be solved in short order.

Sylas held out a hand and the Rune on the back of his hand glowed.

At that moment, the last of the cracks that remained on the Creation Tower began to fuse closed.

Sylas wasnʼt a fool. He knew that this would cause problems.

Right now, the Creation Tower, an existence that used to be one had split several ways, one to each Heaven. All of them were in equal disrepair… Until Sylas appeared with his Creation of Key.

This already tipped the balance, but it wouldnʼt be as large as it was now.

With this change, it would be like nothing had changed to this branch since its creation. It was in top notch condition, unblemished and absolutely perfect.

The other towers were already finding ways to invade. That was why the likes of Shah, Oura, and Tera were here in the first place.

Of course, they had to use special methods to sneak in, and now one of those options was cut off with Magnus becoming an Ancestor of Hell, and even more were cut off now that Sylas had near absolute control of the tower.

But near absolute control wasnʼt the same as true absolute control.

And even if he did have absolute control, how he wielded it would have to be careful and measured.

If he, say, banned all Thryskai, then the retaliation would come from the outside world. Banning one of them was already difficult enough and it would already be a good outcome if the Vaelryn were too prideful to ask for aid.

If he banned them all, well… that would cause problems.

Plus, the Thryskai that Sylas especially hated other than them were those in the Mortal Realm or the God Realm. He hadnʼt actually had much interaction with the Thryskai on the Demi-God Plane.

The one exception to that rule, well…

He had already wiped them all out to near the last man. And that was only because he could no longer say for certain how many Myrrakhael there were left.

Still, the moment Sylas used the first Creation of Key, these outcomes were long set in stone.

He wasnʼt one to back down out of cowardice.

Since they were going to be coming anyway…

He would triple down if he had to.

And in the end, the ones who would be on their knees would be his enemies.

BOOM.

A blinding golden light filled the air.

All across the universe, every Rune Master of the Demi-God Plane worth their salt, looked up at once.

The commotion of every Vaelryn being expelled, and by a Grimblade no less, had hardly settled down when the Ancestor of Hell was named.

Yet another Grimblade.

And now, yet another commotion came from the same location, once again the same spot, and an announcement that rocked the Demi-God Plane echoed.

[An Ancestor of Creation has been Crowned]

[Welcome, Sylas Grimblade]
