Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2264: A Growing Feeling

”I hear that you ran into someone quite interesting.” A sultry voice came out from behind sheer curtains. Shadows moved and whisked about, the poses as vulgar as the voice itself. And yet, when she spoke, it didnʼt sound as though she was doing any of the actions her silhouette made so very clear.

She hopped up and down, her breasts swaying, her hips gyrating and jiggling, and yet her tone was even and smooth without the slightest hint of fatigue.

”You could say so.” A familiar red-lipped woman replied, but her mind seemed to be a bit absent.

”It seems that you are still thinking of him. Unfortunately for you, he is far beyond your means to handle.”

The red-lipped woman didnʼt reply.

”He is no part of the Stormfall Covenant.” A manʼs voice came in reply, but he sounded just as unbothered and unflustered as the woman.

The woman giggled. ”How fascinating, no? Now how was he able to enter our sacred land without being a part of our guilds? Does that make any sense to you?”

”The fundamental underlying nature of the Seeds have begun to change along with the Heavens. It wouldnʼt be a surprise for someone outside of our ilk to form a Kernel of Lust.”

”That still does not explain what he would be doing here, though. Is he aware of the true purpose of our existence?”

The red-lipped woman hesitated. On the one hand, she didnʼt want to interrupt a conversation between these two. They existed on a plane much higher than her own. But at the same time, she wasnʼt sure if she should say what her thoughts were.

For some reason, the thought that he might be related to the Grimblades kept coming back over and over again.

When those two first appeared, no one thought much of it. They were part of a huge batch that their Guild Spirits had snatched up.

But now the Grimblade name had been spread everywhere across the Skai Heaven. It wasnʼt something that they could continue to ignore.

However, the powerhouse factions of the world werenʼt formed of cowards, and their guilds werenʼt the only ones who had snatched up Grimblades either.

There were two philosophies of thought in this situation.

One group believed that this was actually the intention of the Grimblades, to spread their seed across several powers and gain themselves what the political sphere would call ”soft power” as a result.

Soft power was any strength that could be exerted without physical combat. It was deterrence in some respects, or friendship in others.

The fact that the Grimblades had so many talents was a statement in itself. Guild Spirits and other mechanisms of the sort didnʼt just snatch up anybody.

So, some believed that the Grimblades had allowed this to happen on purpose to both make a statement and reach out an olive branch to the various powers of the Skai Heaven who were sure to be quite wary of them.

Who wouldnʼt be wary of a family that came out of nowhere and suddenly monopolized one of, if not the strongest treasure of the Heaven?

Those that fell into this camp of thinking believed that the Grimblades likely had a master plan all laid out. The Grimblades had been snatched up before this move was made. So from a third partyʼs perspective, it was almost like they had had the intention to monopolize the Creation Tower from the very beginning.

How much confidence did something like that take? How powerful were the best of them to guarantee something like that?

The trouble was… the reports were conflicting and too little time had passed to verify everything just yet.

What happened on the Mortal Plane wouldnʼt be public or easily accessible knowledge for those of the Demi-God Plane. But that didnʼt mean that this information was impossible to receive.

And let alone the Mortal Plane and what happened there, it also had to be remembered that Sylas was on the radar of the Thryskai of the God Plane already. In fact, they had sent him a quest to complete that he had completely ignored.

Though, technically it had already passed.

Even so, while others were beginning to investigate this matter more deeply, there were more questions than answers and another tide was slowly rising.

No one was sure exactly how strong Magnus was, but enough people had seen Sylas to know that he was a D-tier. Even at the end, he had only become a C-tier Rune Creator in their eyes.

This was extremely fishy. How could a D-tier possibly become the Ancestor of Creation?

This caused people to wonder if this was really all that intentional to begin with.

It was said that the seventh slot of Demi-Godhood had been filled recently, and the timing of everything was all too coincidental.

Of course, the breaking and bending of the laws of the Plane was opening up other opportunities, and many were still very much focused on the coming rise of the Sanctum. But… What if none of this was intention at all? What if the Grimblade Clan was a newly minted Clan that just got a little over their skis and popped into the Demi-God Plane with a disproportionate amount of talent versus their ability to actually protect said talent… And what if now they were just scrambling, looking for ways to look far more imposing than they actually were?

And if that was the case, then maybe Sylas was a prodigy that elevated his Clan to a whole new level far too quickly and long before they were ready for it?

There was a growing number of people who felt this way, but there had yet to be a true smoking gun just yet.

But if the Cheri was correct… she slowly touched her red lips… this could be exactly that smoking gun.

Because Sylas, then, could only be here for one reason and one reason only.

To save those Grimblades.

Cheri had completely tuned out the words of the two behind the sheer veil. Then she excused herself with a bow and left.
