Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2255: Brush

The old man chuckled. ”A Coronation is an ascendance within the God Realm. Usually at the S-tier, though I guess it doesnʼt strictly have to be.

”Every powerful entity in existence will sense it. Those that want to make trouble with you will certainly choose to make trouble with you.

”Usually, this is less of an issue because those that can attempt Coronations have enormous factions backing them. You, however…” the old manʼs head tilted to the side. The one thing about Sylas that he had definitely seen earlier was that Sylas didnʼt have a substantial amount of Karma on him.

Well, he did. But not the amount a genius of his caliber should. It was being held back by something.

And the only thing that filled in the gaps was the idea of someone who was forced to split his own Karma to make up for those that followed him that didnʼt have any.

Sylas wasnʼt the scion of a powerful Clan.

He was the ancestor of one. The first generation Ancestor.

It wasnʼt something that anyoneʼs mind could leap to instantly, but the old man had seen too much. He knew what he was seeing when he laid eyes upon it.

”… It doesnʼt seem like youʼll have that luxury. And you have a certain issue that comes from that temper of yours. By the time you get there, Iʼm sure youʼll have made many more enemies that can influence the Champions Will. So… good luck with that.” The old man smiled.

”I want you to help when my Coronation comes.” Sylas continued without missing a beat.

The old manʼs smile fell. ”… FUCK! Alright! Thatʼs it! Thatʼs enough! Has anyone ever heard of a disciple risking their life for their master? What sort of bullshit is this? Where is your fucking shame?”

All he received in return was a deadpan glance.

Sylas didnʼt mind stopping there. He had already gotten most of everything he wanted. The only other things heʼd ask for were probably things related to Earthʼs protection, but all of that would be meaningless if he couldnʼt manage to get himself powerful enough to clear the quest looming over his head within the year.

Even this man couldnʼt give him a formation strong enough to stop what would undoubtedly be a continuous assault. At least not one that Sylas was capable of laying now.

The formation Earth already had was good enough for that.

So, Sylas just stood there and waited.

The old man sighed, realizing that Sylas was just going to stand there until he got what he asked for.

With a wave of his hand, a Creation of Key formed. But this one, despite looking at it, felt entirely invisible to all of Sylasʼ senses. Then the old man tossed it over.

Sylas had to concentrate his entire attention on catching it. The moment it touched his skin, it melted into his palm and a mark appeared on the back of his hand.

Then, the old man clapped his hands and an echo of something pooled forward. Two tomes appeared.

”These two are from your martial nephews, disciples I once took. They are excellent.”

Sylas pretended not to hear this. The idea this old man had forced him to become his master as acknowledged by the system was ridiculous enough.

”Your parents are located in these places.” The echo of a Will passed by and Sylas knew from the moment he sensed them that the instant he heard their names, he would recognize them.

The old man wasnʼt from Sylasʼ era, so it made sense he couldnʼt tell Sylas by name where his parents were. But this would be more than good enough.

So long as he connected to a Nexus, he would be able to find his parents quite quickly.

”A complete history of the world…” the old man mumbled.

He snapped his fingers and a tome that stretched up the skies appeared. It vanished into the endless white above.

”I guess we can take out some redundancy.”

He karate chopped at the tomeʼs spine, but it still loomed impossibly tall.

”Eh, itʼs probably going to take even you decades to finish reading all of this. Do you even have a place to store it?” The old man shook his head. ”Forget it.”

He waved a hand at the air and a ring appeared. The tome vanished along with it and he tossed it over to Sylas.

”Consider this an extra gift. Now…” the old man crossed his arms and looked at Sylas deeply for a moment. ”… Every Class Iʼve ever come across is quite a tall order. It wonʼt be as long as the history of the universe, but it will be substantially more complicated. Itʼs not as easy to store something like that.

”Even if I distilled all of them into a single Rune Mesh, the tome would still be too large for me to form anything that could easily house it. There is also a lot of redundancy in them as well, a lot of overlap. What I can do is eliminate any of those. That might be just enough. Oh—!”

An idea struck the man.

”Storing these things properly is very important, or else you wonʼt be able to take them back. How about instead of a full breakdown of everything, Iʼll infuse their Will into a strand instead. Then youʼll be able to feel out what you want and use your Legacy of Key to take the ones youʼre interested in.”

Sylas nodded.

”Alright. Give me your Legacy of Key.”

Sylas tossed it over.

There was a warp in the air, and the crack in his Legacy of Key was instantly fixed. Then, the old man pulled out an enormous calligraphy brush and handed both things over to Sylas.

”This brush is a treasure Iʼve kept by my side for a long time, but now it will be yours. It carries the Will of every power Iʼve ever come across and taken an interest in. Theyʼre layered in folds of time so that I could fit everything, but with your talent, Iʼm sure youʼll figure it out.

”Now, the last thing.”

Sylas looked down at the treasure he had just been given. He was pretty sure this thing was stronger than any treasure on the entire Demi-God Plane, and maybe only a few dozen could match it on the God Plane.
