Star Lord: Rob the alien race and you will get a hundred times the reward

Chapter 153: Bugs can also drive battleships!Chapter 153: Bugs can also drive battleships!
After receiving the order to ask, the Queen Mother didn’t react for a while and her thoughts were stuck for a few seconds.

”Master, do you want me to breed humanoid bugs to drive technological warships?”

The Queen Mother asked somewhat unconfidently.

Liu Wen chuckled and found that the queen he raised was quite cute. Her silly and adorable look was totally different from the Void Queen who roamed the stars and wiped out civilizations at will.

”Yes, I want you to breed a group of human-like bugs with low-level intelligence that can initially control mechanical warships. I will send you the relevant driving skill data now. You just need to instill them according to the breeding method of the bug swarm. I don’t require these bugs to be able to do much, as long as they can complete the operation step by step.”

The Queen Mother received the information and easily absorbed and digested it using the swarm’s mental network. At this time, she finally understood what Liu Wen meant, which was that he just wanted a batch of inferior worker bees, and then paired them with a few insects with the intelligence of worker bees.

It’s very simple, and it saves breeding resources. The resources used to breed an ordinary combat insect can produce a dozen inferior worker bees. At most, it just improves the intelligence of the brain. As for the coordination problem, the Zerg never needs to be questioned. The existence of the mind network makes the coordination between Zergs much stronger than any technological civilization of the same level, including the intelligent mechanical civilization.

Do you really think that the Void Zerg can roam the void and become one of the cosmic disasters just because they can breed bugs in large quantities and possess powerful mental energy?

There are countless civilizations engaged in biotechnology, and there are also many biological civilizations that are stronger than the Zerg. But why is it that only the Void Zerg has become a cosmic disaster and is always active in the universe?
The swarm’s mental network plays an indispensable role in this. Knowledge is passed on through it, and all insects share mental power. The scientific research efficiency on the biological side is the absolute leader among civilizations of the same level.

The biological civilizations in the universe basically achieve advancement by imitating and learning from the Void Zerg. High-level biological warships and biological soldiers are all closely related to the Void Zerg. Even many genetic raw material structures are derived from the insects.

But after so many years, using bugs to drive mechanical warships is really the first time in the world. As a Void Zerg famous for its dual strength of individual units and numbers, it has never thought about this issue. After all, they need both quantity and quality to fight. There are also Leviathans facing off against the battleships. The queen has a hive, and the queen can gather the power of the entire swarm to fight. They are absolutely top-notch in their class, so how can they look down on technological warships that cause trouble, maintenance, and logistics troubles?

Therefore, when the Queen Mother heard Liu Wen ask her to create a batch of insects to control the mechanical warships, she was so surprised. But after receiving the detailed data requirements, the Queen Mother, who was raised by Liu Wen and had no shortage of knowledge in her genetic inheritance, easily cultivated the insects he wanted.

Seeing that the genes of tens of billions of humanoid insects were adjusted and cultivated in just half an hour, Liu Wen was silent for a moment.

”Is this a channel that can replace the ordinary crew members of the fleet?”

While Liu Wen was thinking about the pros and cons, he arranged for Laura to control the transport ship to send these insects into the mechanical warship.

In the human fleet, under normal circumstances, each warship will have crew requirements, and the minimum number will be five, who are responsible for the driving system, fire control system, energy system, mechanical system, and a captain who controls the overall situation.

The warships work in three shifts according to combat needs, so the minimum requirement is fifteen people, which is the minimum requirement.

If it is replaced with a Titan super flagship, the minimum requirement for its crew will be as high as thousands of people. If it is combined with scientific research personnel, guard formations, production formations, logistics support formations, staff departments, command centers, etc., the number of personnel will be as high as tens of thousands, and the full staffing requirement will have to reach more than 100,000.

The crews of the Star Fleet’s cruiser-class and above warships have never been fully staffed, and they are basically staffed according to the minimum requirements. Sometimes, when the army expands too quickly and there is a shortage of qualified crew members, they will also draw crew members from lower-level warships to fill the gap temporarily, and then draw crew members from the lower-level warships layer by layer, which may eventually result in a situation where a frigate-class battleship is controlled by only one captain.

In the interstellar age, the population is indeed large, with a single territory easily having tens of billions or even hundreds of billions of people. However, there are not many people who are willing and have the required knowledge and technical skills. After all, in an interstellar war, it is normal for hundreds of millions of crew members to die in a single battle. It is true that a will must be written every time a voyage is made.

The unexpectedly low war losses meant that not many people were willing to serve as crew members. When one could easily live for hundreds or thousands of years, how many people would be willing to risk their lives at the age of just a few dozen?
Now, because cannon fodder is needed temporarily, the idea of letting the Queen Mother produce cannon fodder bugs to control the warships. Because of the mental network between the bugs, they don’t need fire control radar at all, let alone a communication system. As long as there is a bug, it can perfectly cooperate with the fleet battle through the mental network, and they are not afraid of life and death.

In the case where it is inconvenient to expose the Zerg, it seems really feasible to fill the fleet with Zerg, and doing so can also save the territory a large amount of pension expenses. The money saved can be used to build warships, conduct scientific research, or even feed the Zerg. Wouldn’t it be effective in improving the territory’s foundation?
There was no need to let Laura do the calculations. Liu Wen just did a simple calculation. Based on the war with the intelligent civilization and the normal crew casualties ratio, he concluded that if a large number of basic crew members were replaced with bugs, one battle could save trillions of contribution points for the territory.

By the time this war with the intelligent machine civilization is over, at least several trillion contribution points can be saved, because not only pensions can be saved, but also logistical support, radar equipment and other aspects that can be replaced by bugs.

”This is really something that can be done. Why didn’t I think of it before?” As for the suspicion that Baolei was colluding with the Zerg, that was totally untrue. With the level of biotechnology in Xinghai Territory, what’s wrong with building a group of biochemical soldiers to control spacecraft based on the Zerg? Can you still say that I don’t have that ability?

As for the restrictions of the ”Treaty on the Prevention of the Proliferation of Biological and Chemical Weapons and Intelligent Life Serial Number 03-308”, there is no need to worry about it. It is just an auxiliary control of the warship and is fully in line with the requirements of the ”Regulations on the Management of the Use of Biological and Chemical Equipment”.

Liu Wen did it as soon as he said it. After returning to the control center, he ordered Laura to calculate how many contribution points and resources could be saved by replacing ordinary crew members with bugs according to the current war situation, and what equipment on the warship could be replaced or substituted openly.

”Dear Lord, according to your request, the mechanical warship produced using planetary megastructures perfectly meets your requirements.”

Laura explained through the projection: ”Look at this model of mechanical warship. The life support system, leisure space, detection radar and fire control radar have been cancelled, and only basic communication equipment is retained.”

”Besides, since bugs can survive in a vacuum, the armor protection materials of mechanical warships can be reduced. It is equivalent to only needing a fast-moving firepower platform. In terms of cost, the same resources can be used to build two and a half mechanical warships while retaining their firepower output strength.” Liu Wen nodded: ”Energy reactors are irreplaceable, but they can be reduced. After all, they are cannon fodder warships. There is no need to use them for a long time. A shelf life of two to three years is enough.”

”Similarly, although jump drives and warp drives are indispensable in the interstellar era, their mass can also be reduced by lowering the material requirements, while retaining the same level of short-term drive.”

”The reduction in manufacturing process and materials can save nearly half of the funds and raw materials, and the manufacturing speed can be increased by more than five times. It is really a perfect cannon fodder warship! Moreover, it is a mechanical warship, and is not afraid of the network capture and interference capabilities of the intelligent civilization. It is good, very good!”

Liu Wen was very satisfied with Laura’s recommendation. This set of blueprints was upgraded from the previous cannon fodder battleship. The combat effectiveness was greatly improved, and the overall structure was also strengthened. The defense capability was not much different from the battleships of the same level, and it could withstand a few shots before exploding.

”According to this, we can mass-produce mechanical warships and have the Queen Mother cooperate in breeding the corresponding bugs. In addition, these cannon fodder warships can be equipped with those unstable special equipment. The loss will not be great anyway. If we do a good job of isolation, we can take away a large number of intelligent warships as long as we succeed once. It will be profitable anyway. It can also provide the Research Institute with more detailed actual combat data to promote optimized design.”

”Laura understands!” Laura’s projection disappeared.

Liu Wen continued to check on the mechanical battleship. The swarm of insects transported by Laura had arrived at the mechanical battleship parking area. All the battleships below level seven were controlled by insects, while the captains and other core members of the battleships above level seven were controlled by humans, who would not interfere with the control of the swarm unless necessary. The rule-level battleships were completely controlled by humans, especially the level nine rule-level legion fleet.

Because the territory fleet had been basically withdrawn and the number of defense fleets was scarce, Laura had to take over the fleet as a last resort. Therefore, it was not easy to select a group of crew members to control it.

Now the territory’s active crew members have basically been withdrawn, and the urgently recruited crew members are still in training. Without the active backbone, the legion formed later cannot even build a command system, and its combat effectiveness has seriously declined.

On the battlefield, because Michelle chose to attack the wormhole channel, more than two thousand legion troops formed a strike array, which forcibly cut off the reinforcements of the intelligent fleet.

In the sky interwoven into a network of naval gun beams, the two sides’ unmanned fighter jets and other small aircraft formed teams to fight. Flying at sub-light speeds, any mistake between the two sides could destroy themselves.

The fleets of both sides were fighting in the void. Michelle tried to blow up the wormhole channels, but was unable to break through the blockade of the intelligent fleet.

Although there were not many intelligent warships at the beginning, and many of them were killed by Michelle’s concentrated firepower, but with the wormhole channel, the enemy’s troops could be said to be pouring out continuously, and they would soon be able to tie with the support fleet.

A large number of large mobile fortresses flew out of the wormhole channel. The huge size and weapons loaded on them caused terrifying damage.

Light beams with a diameter of hundreds of meters tore through the void and lashed the support fleet like whips tens of millions of kilometers long. Each ship-borne fortress gun could take away a small or medium-sized warship, and large battleships such as battleships could not withstand a few fortress gun attacks.

Michelle frowned as he watched the battle situation. There was no way to provide support to Luo Shaohua and the others if this continued. Simply delaying part of the fleet would not be of much help to them, because they were still heavily trapped in the void and unable to escape.

They couldn’t win before, and they still can’t win now and can’t break through. All we can say is that after reducing the support force, Luo Shaohua and his men can hold on a little longer.

”Commander Michel, we won’t be able to hold on for much longer at this rate. We will be wiped out in a dozen hours at most.” Luo Shaohua looked exhausted. Ordinary crew members could take turns to fight, but as the commander of the army group, he had no way to rest. He had been working at a high intensity all the time. Even a level five psychic could not hold on any longer!

”Yes! Commander Michel, we need to break their encirclement, otherwise the three armies will not be able to repair and will not be able to hold on for long. The energy consumption of the fleet has reached the critical line. If it goes on, even if it is not directly destroyed, it will be covered by the opponent’s rules because of the exhaustion of energy.” Chen Wen is a little better than Luo Shaohua. After all, his family is not short of money and he graduated from a key university. He practiced psychic power earlier and has stronger resistance than Luo Shaohua and others.

Bai Haitang asked with two dark circles under her eyes: ”Commander Michel, when will the territory’s support fleet arrive to help us break out?”

Michelle comforted him, ”Don’t worry. We will prioritize the safety of the fleet’s crew and reduce losses. The territory has already initiated a full mobilization, and biological warships are being assembled. It will only take a few hours for the first batch of one thousand legions to be assembled and attract a large amount of firepower for you.”

”A biological fleet alone is not enough. The intelligent life in the Tuomu Thunder Galaxy seems determined to kill us and has chased us all the way into the open star field.” This is what Luo Shaohua couldn’t figure out.

According to the rational thinking of the intelligent machines, the danger of exploring star fields is very high. If you are not careful, it is easy to attract attacks from regular human fleets, and the gains and costs are completely disproportionate.

Therefore, small-scale infiltration and development is no problem, but sending a main fleet to penetrate deep into the star field to besiege the human fleet has not happened for many years!

Michelle consoled them, ”You just need to hold the line. The Lord has just informed us that he has purchased a batch of alien mechanical warships, totaling more than 30,000 legions. There is also a legion-sized ninth-level rule-class warship. The crews are currently being assigned to operate it. It will take at most three hours to reach the battlefield.”
