The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 2221: The leader of the resistance

As soon as those words left Cain’s mouth, enlightenment coursed through his mind like a lightning storm. A realization, long dormant, finally clicked into place.

Every tale that rose from the World Forge—every narrative, every myth, every ”origin story”—always carried some variation of the same manufactured conflict. A fabricated rivalry between two branches of the Six Sacred Races, divided neatly into Light and Dark camps, each indoctrinated to despise the other.

For the longest time, Cain had wondered what the true end goal of such a design was. He had never believed the purpose was merely to provoke aggression between the two sides. Something so simplistic could not justify a conflict woven so deeply into the foundation of countless worlds.

Yet now, as he witnessed what eons of racial superiority could evolve into, the answer finally revealed itself. A societal monstrosity. A world built on delusion, hierarchies, and stagnation. The Abyssalcrown Empyrean World was not an anomaly—it was an outcome. Cain felt he had uncovered something important, perhaps even foundational.

But he pushed the revelation to the back of his mind. The Root stood on the universe’s doorstep; he could not afford distraction. The insight would remain, but for now the mission demanded his full attention.

He needed a clearer picture of the ruling forces. The Abyssal Clan sat at the peak, but the world contained a complex web of royal and imperial clans beneath them, all pulling strings across the continents. Normally, when one sought knowledge about a target, the wisest place to begin was not with the rulers, but with their enemies. And no one hated the Abyssal Clan more than the enslaved Light Races.

”Wherever there is oppression, there is resistance,” Cain murmured. A universal truth. This world would be no exception. Somewhere beneath its polished tyranny, there would be rebels—warriors of the Light Races who fought from the shadows.

Of course, their secrecy made them difficult to find. But Cain was already accustomed to this kind of work.

His scanning force field continued sweeping across the continent, its subtle pulses unnoticed by even the most powerful entities. Moments later, Cain’s gaze sharpened. He turned toward a distant point on the horizon—and vanished.

In an instant, he stood beside a massive lake. In the next heartbeat, he teleported into a small underground cavern hidden deep beneath its waters. The people inside never even had a chance to perceive his presence. Cain’s eyes glowed softly, and time froze within the cave.

With the power of his soul and ego, infiltrating the minds of the rebels would be effortless. But as he examined their consciousnesses, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. Every single one of them had layered their memories with self-destruction seals—hundreds of them—ready to obliterate their minds at the slightest intrusion.

Cain could not help but respect their resolve.

Under normal circumstances, such protection would have been troublesome. For anyone else, perhaps even impossible to break without triggering annihilation. But the [A.I. Chip Module] bypassed the seals with surgical precision, unraveling each layer without disturbing the core memories.

Within minutes, Cain had absorbed everything he needed and retreated without leaving the faintest trace. Time resumed as if nothing had occurred, and none of the rebels sensed a thing.

From there, he climbed the ladder of resistance cells, infiltrating each one in turn. At the higher echelons, the work became more intricate—each cell operated independently, their leaders separated by layers of secrecy. Even the commanders did not know the identities or locations of those above them.

But Cain didn’t need names. He needed connections.

Piece by piece, he gathered fragments from every source: moments of interaction, scraps of speech, gestures, subtle impressions left behind by superior officers. And once the data was collected, it took the [A.I. Chip Module] less than five minutes to decode the hidden pathways and extract the location of the true headquarters.

An hour later, Cain hovered above an endless stretch of ocean.

He plunged downward.

Pressure and darkness embraced him, dense enough to crush even a wak Prima Deity... but against Cain’s body, the ocean’s wrath was barely noticeable. He descended deeper, deeper still, until he reached the ocean floor—and beheld a hidden city.

A massive force field cloaked the settlement, bending light, sound, and energy around it. An impressive feat. But it could not deceive Cain.

Without hesitation, his eyes glowed, and in the next heartbeat he appeared not just inside the city, but within the central fortress located at its core.

This time, Cain did not hide his presence.

The reaction was immediate. Shock rippled through every warrior inside the fortress. This was a top-tier secured location, accessible only to trusted members of the resistance. Every individual inside knew every other by face and aura. Cain’s sudden materialization was nothing short of impossible.

Guards encircled him in less than a second, weapons drawn, energy erupting from their bodies. Cain ignored them completely and continued walking forward.

One warrior reacted instinctively, flashing toward Cain with a blade aimed straight at his skull. The strike landed cleanly—but instead of tearing flesh, the sword shattered on impact, bursting into metal fragments that scattered across the stone floor.

Horror spread across the room. Yet none of these warriors were cowards. They charged again, spells and weapons flying. None of it mattered. Nothing they unleashed could slow Cain’s advance by even a fraction of a step.

”Enough.”

The word rang from deeper inside the fortress, spoken by an old man emerging from a shadowed corridor. Scars crossed his face like ancient battle lines, each one a story carved into flesh. He was a member of the Godslayer Humankind. The moment his voice appeared, every guard halted.

Cain turned his attention to the old rebel. His cultivation was not surprising, but the man’s willpower—the fire in his eyes—was.

”A will that remains firm even in the face of doom and hopelessness,” Cain said quietly. ”Impressive.”

He stepped forward once more.

”You,” Cain asked, his tone calm but absolute, ”are the leader of the resistance, right?”
