Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 693: Chapter 693: She Deserves a Thousand Cuts

Once the two police officers left, Director Qiao could no longer contain his anger: ”How can there be such a vicious woman in the world? All for her own interests, she’s willing to disregard human life. She deserves to be punished severely!”

Yunyi didn’t express any opinion, after all, she had seen plenty of harsh feuds within old mansions and was familiar with people using poison in ancient books.

Soon, the matter was exposed. Yunyi only found out from chatting doctors in other departments that when the police came to the door, Ding Hongye’s stepmother complained about the difficulties of being a stepmother and how hard her life was.

What she didn’t know was that when they came to the door, they already had solid evidence. No matter how much she played the victim or made a scene, it was useless; the police directly handcuffed her in front of the neighbors.

Even after entering the station, she stubbornly insisted on her innocence, claiming she was being wronged, but faced with irrefutable evidence, she panicked, ”It’s not like that, I didn’t do it intentionally.”

These words infuriated the police present. What do you mean you didn’t do it intentionally? Really, her face was thick enough.

The case had undeniable evidence, and soon the stepmother was transferred to the detention facility.

At this point, Ding Hongye’s stepsister started making a fuss: ”Ding Hongye, you troublemaker, go and tell the police you won’t press charges.”

Ding Hongye mocked her with a face full of disdain: ”It’s hard to believe that you graduated from high school, yet you dare to say such things?”

”Yes, I admit my mom was wrong, but can’t you just let it go for my brother’s sake? Don’t you care about him?”

”Was your mom simply wrong? She’s a criminal.”

”But you didn’t die, right? At most, it’s attempted murder.”

”She intended to murder, if it weren’t for my fortune, it would be just a matter of time. I won’t show mercy to anyone.”

”Aren’t you afraid your little brother will resent you when he grows up?”

”I’m nearly dead; I don’t care about others.”

Seeing Ding Hongye unyielding, the stepsister shouted to Father Ding, who had just returned: ”Dad, please convince sister to let my mom off. My brother is too young to be without a mother.”

As she spoke, she began to cry softly.

Father Ding looked exhausted, fearing the thought of his daughter being nearly killed by his newly married wife, but also feeling pity for his son.

After struggling for a while, he looked at his daughter with guilt: ”Hongye.”

But before he could utter another word, Ding Hongye interrupted him: ”Don’t force me, or I will cut ties with you. Regarding how she treated me these years, I can’t believe you’re completely unaware. You just didn’t want to break the facade of harmony.

You have no idea how much I’ve suffered behind closed doors. You don’t have the right to ask me to forgive her.”

Having said that, she turned and went back to her room.

Due to Ding Hongye’s steadfastness, and because someone with power who once received favors from Ding Hongye’s grandfather was informed, the case gained some momentum.

Soon, the woman’s sentence was announced. Although Ding Hongye wasn’t murdered, the damage to her body was extensive, and the methods used were extremely vicious. Considering the severity, the woman was sentenced to fifteen years.

After the judgment, Ding Hongye’s stepsister went to the Workers’ Hospital, cursing Yunyi: ”You troublemaker. If it weren’t for you, my mom wouldn’t have been arrested, and our family wouldn’t have fallen apart.”

Yunyi was not going to put up with her antics, and directly kicked her far away: ”Daughter of a murderer, who gave you the nerve to come here to harass me?”
