Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 675: Chapter 675: Even Angrier Than Her Own Brother

Huo Jiayuan locked herself in the room for a day and night before finally coming to a realization. This was good; she didn’t have to struggle with difficult choices anymore.

She got up, tidied herself, and then went downstairs.

Jiang Jingya had taken leave from work to stay home with her daughter because she was worried that Jiayuan might do something rash.

Seeing her daughter come down from upstairs, she said, ”Jiayuan, you?”

Huo Jiayuan said softly, ”Mom, have Aunt Zhang cook me a bowl of noodles. I’m hungry.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang Jingya exclaimed excitedly, ”Oh, oh, that’s good, that’s good. Being hungry is a good sign.”

Then she turned her head towards the kitchen and shouted, ”Sister Zhang, hurry, cook a bowl of noodles for Jiayuan. You made beef sauce yesterday, just use that.”

Aunt Zhang heard Madam’s words and replied, ”Okay, I’ll boil the water and cook it now.”

Seeing Miss Jiayuan coming down, she couldn’t help but wipe the corner of her eye with her sleeve. She had been with this family for six years and had watched Jiayuan grow up; she was really worried, just like she would be for her own child.

The noodles were served quickly. After Huo Jiayuan thanked her, she started eating slowly.

Finishing a bowl of noodles, Huo Jiayuan felt like she was finally alive again.

She had another small bowl of broth that Aunt Zhang brought over. Then she turned to her mother and said, ”Mom, I want to go visit Fourth Brother, and see Sister-in-law too.”

Although Jiang Jingya was a bit worried, she thought it might be good for her daughter to get out for a change of scenery. ”I’ll ask your dad to find someone to take you there.”

Huo Jiayuan waved her hand and said, ”No need, I have a classmate who’s a train attendant and runs that line. I joked with her before that if I ever went to Ji City, I’d find her.”

Jiang Jingya had heard about this before and knew her daughter didn’t want to worry them, so she agreed for the time being.

Huo Jiayuan acted quickly, first calling the newspaper to ask for leave, then contacted her classmate and learned that she would be on the train tomorrow. Jiayuan promised to meet her at the station.

Huo Jiayuan asked someone to help her buy a sleeper ticket for tomorrow’s train and then went upstairs to pack her things.

Jiang Jingya didn’t stay idle either. Since her daughter wanted to visit, she naturally had to prepare some things for her to take along.

She prepared a large bag full of fabric and samples, then called her son: ”Hello, Jingrui...”

Jiang Jingya recounted everything that happened in recent days to her son, ”Jingrui, your sister said she wants to stay with you for a few days. I agreed. She bought a train ticket for tomorrow afternoon, remember to pick her up at the station.”

When Huo Jingrui heard that Du Shujian had betrayed his sister, he was furious. He wished he could go back to Beijing immediately to deal with him for his sister, but knowing that Jiayuan would arrive in a few days, he suppressed his impulse.

After hanging up, he dialed a number with a serious expression: ”Hanchuan...”

He spoke a few brief words, followed by code words only they could understand. Upon hearing that little Huo was bullied, Zhao Hanchuan was even more furious than her own brother, Jingrui: ”Alright, I know about it. I understand.”

After ending the call, he opened his office door, walked out, beckoned a subordinate over, whispered a few instructions, and said, ”Go.”

After the person left, a cold glint flashed in Zhao Hanchuan’s eyes.

When Huo Shanhe returned home, he was pulled into the room by Jiang Jingya: ”Shanhe, Jiayuan said she wants to visit Jingrui, and I already agreed. I originally wanted you to find someone to take her, but she said she has a classmate running on that line who could look after her.

I’m afraid that saying more might cause her to feel uncomfortable, so I agreed with her. But I’m still worried. Can you arrange for someone to secretly escort her? Given her current situation, I am still a bit uneasy.”
