Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 608: Chapter 608: Capture

At a quarter past 5 PM, sounds emerged from the cave entrance.

People wielding machetes cleared the vines, stepping out with boxes one after another.

The last person didn’t forget to toss the cut vines back into the cave and pulled the vines on both sides of the entrance toward the opening, then picked up the box at his feet and quickly caught up with the others.

Seeing them walk away, the armed division officers in charge of the operation waved their hands for everyone to follow.

This place wasn’t too far from Elm Ridge, but the path was tough to navigate. The men carrying boxes struggled greatly, needing to sit down for a rest after a while.

After periods of walking and resting, they finally reached the location by 9-11 PM.

Not only the box carriers, but even those holding the small boxes couldn’t take it anymore, collapsing on the ground: ”We’re finally leaving this cursed place, it’s killing me.”

Huang Yibang took out binoculars and looked toward the highway ahead.

In his mind, he hoped there wouldn’t be any mishaps and that the pickup vehicle would appear on time.

A voice from behind asked, ”Boss, any sign of the vehicle yet?”

Huang Yibang remained silent and only said, ”Relax, they promised to be here by 11 PM - 1 AM, there’ll be no mistake.”

He withdrew his binoculars and addressed everyone: ”Once we rest, let’s move everything to the roadside below. Once the vehicle arrives, we’ll leave immediately.”

He had an ominous feeling urging them to depart from the area quickly.

Half an hour later, Huang Yibang ordered, ”Get up, quickly transport everything to the roadside below, the vehicle should arrive soon.”

For some reason, he felt increasingly anxious.

Indeed, just as everyone had moved everything to the roadside, the sound of a car came from the distant mountain road, soon followed by headlights. About ten minutes later, the vehicle finally reached their location.

After exchanging a few words with the vehicle occupants, the men started loading items onto the car.

Midway through loading, police and armed officers ambushed from both sides of the mountain, appearing not far from them: ”Freeze, hands up.”

The driver attempted to drive away upon noticing the situation.

But someone acted quicker; Huo Jingrui leapt through the open window, snatched the keys and yanked the driver out.

Those outside the car, except for Huang Yibang and another operative, were all apprehended.

After tossing aside the driver, Huo Jingrui pursued the fleeing direction of Huang Yibang and his partner.

In the end, Huang Yibang was shot in the leg, and another man fell into the roadside ditch, severely injured.

Following the completion of the capture operation, Yunyi revived Lun Huaijing using the silver needle she pulled from a sack. Seeing he was fine, Huo Jingrui hurriedly led people back to the cave along the same route.

Yunyi stayed behind to help treat the injured.

However, Huo Jingrui and his team moved much faster this time, utilizing manpower to swiftly transport the remaining boxes from the cave.

With everything concluded, daylight had already broken.

Huo Jingrui and Yunyi were given a ride to the town. They tidied themselves up a bit before finding a place to eat, then took a bus back to the Agricultural Reclamation Group.

Yunyi returned to her small courtyard to rest, while Huo Jingrui headed to the group headquarters.

Last night, Qiao Shaoguo and his team weren’t idle either; they collaborated with the forest station’s security team and the police to detain all operatives hidden within the Agricultural Reclamation Group, as well as the forest station and surrounding villages.

Despite the nighttime operation, word spread. By the time Yun Yiyi awoke from her nap, people outside were already discussing the enemy operative incident.
