Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 524: Chapter 524: Stop Competing with Us

What woman doesn’t love beauty? Hearing Yunyi say that she made it by hand, Huo Jiayuan’s face lit up with joy as she picked up a jar. ”Fourth Sister-in-law, did you make all of these?”

Yunyi nodded with a smile. ”You can try it. It’s quite moisturizing and hydrating. However, it can only be kept for three months. After that, don’t apply it to your face, though it’s still fine for your hands.”

Huo Jiayuan opened a jar and sniffed it. ”Hmm, this scent is so light and pleasant.”

Yunyi watched her with a smile. ”You can try it on the back of your hand. It’s quite effective for skin hydration.”

All the women in the room gathered around, staring at the skincare cream Huo Jiayuan had opened.

Huo Jiayuan took a little from the jar and applied it to the back of her hand, spreading and rubbing it in. ”Hmm, this cream isn’t greasy at all.”

Everyone could see that the skin on the back of her hand where the cream had been applied looked noticeably different from the rest.

The group glanced at the jars of cream on the table, exchanging looks, but no one reached out.

Jiang Jingya clearly knew what everyone was thinking. ”Let’s leave one jar for the eldest’s family and one for the third’s family. The rest of us can share what’s left.”

This method of division satisfied everyone present.

Of course, based on what Yunyi had said earlier, Huo Shanhe and Huo Qianjin, the father and son duo, each received a jar too.

Seeing his dad and second brother get theirs, Huo Jingrui reached out, wanting a jar for himself, but was mercilessly rejected by the women. ”These were made by your Yunyi. Don’t compete with us for them.”

After saying this, they all laughed happily.

Naturally, while dividing the cream, they didn’t forget Auntie Zhang in the kitchen.

When Auntie Zhang came out of the kitchen, she looked toward Huo Shanhe, who was seated at the head of the table. ”Commander, the meal is ready.”

Huo Shanhe looked directly at Jiang Jingya.

Jiang Jingya turned to Auntie Zhang. ”Auntie Zhang, you came at just the right time. Here, this is skincare cream handcrafted by my daughter-in-law. One jar is for you.”

Auntie Zhang hadn’t expected to receive one, and her face lit up with joy. ”There’s one for me too? Thank you so much!”

She accepted the skincare cream, her face full of gratitude.

After handing over the jar, Jiang Jingya said with a smile, ”Now that everything’s settled, let’s set the table and eat.”

Auntie Zhang went to get busy, and Jiang Jingya took a red envelope from her pocket. ”Yunyi, this is a small token from your uncle and me. Please take it.”

Yunyi felt a bit embarrassed, as the red envelope was plump and clearly contained a substantial amount of money.

Gao Ruyi could tell at a glance that it was more than what she herself had received on her first visit, but she harbored no ill feelings. After all, Old Four was Auntie Jiang’s biological son, and Auntie Jiang had surely added a considerable amount to the envelope herself. They knew that Auntie Jiang’s maternal family had provided a substantial dowry back then, and she had never coveted her father-in-law’s assets.

Yunyi looked at Huo Jingrui. When he nodded, she thanked them and accepted the envelope.

Jiang Jingya laughed. ”Let’s go eat first. Later, follow me upstairs. I have something nice to give you.”

She said this quite openly, showing no concern for the presence of her stepdaughter, stepson, or stepdaughter-in-law. In this household, she always did as she pleased, as everyone was well aware of her personality and way of handling things.

In this family, Huo Shanhe’s possessions were never distributed with favoritism toward any particular individual. However, when it came to her own belongings, Jiang Jingya, as the stepmother, could do as she pleased, and that was none of their concern.

Everyone moved to the dining room. Jiang Jingya beckoned Yunyi to sit down. ”Auntie Zhang comes from a long line of master chefs, spanning several generations. Her cooking is considered the best in our compound...”

While saying this, she gave a thumbs-up. ”Eat up. If there’s any dish you particularly like, we can ask Auntie Zhang to make it for you again sometime.”

Finished speaking, she looked at her son. ”Take good care of Yunyi.”
