Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 496: Chapter 496 You Are Shameless

At that moment, a quarrel was erupting in the third branch of the Ye Family. ”Ye Bingkun, what do you mean? Is it me who won’t let her come back?”

Ye Bingkun’s eyes were ablaze. ”What did I tell you before? I told you to rearrange her room. How did you handle it?”

Zhang Baoxiang, momentarily feeling guilty, shouted back defensively, ”Even if I had tidied it up, would she come back to live here?”

Having said that, she added with frustration, ”Do you not know what a comfortable life she’s enjoying in the main house?”

Ye Bingkun was infuriated by these words. His fists clenched tightly, and he wished he could throw a punch. However, he was also aware that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t match the living conditions of the main house.

After taking several deep breaths, he said, ”Regardless of whether or not she comes back to live here, the room should still be redone for her. We at least need to make our stance clear, just like Eldest Brother and Sister-in-law did. Even if Yunyi doesn’t return to live with the Ye Family, she still has her place.”

Zhang Baoxiang’s face was full of scorn. ”We can’t compare to the main house. Besides, Eldest Brother and Sister-in-law are something else! That girl already said she won’t come back to live, so why insist on everyone returning to their respective homes and finding their respective mothers? Isn’t that just making things difficult for us?”

Ye Bingkun was about to explode with anger at this woman’s words. ”So what? They raised her for you for eighteen years, and you still want them to keep taking care of her forever?”

Zhang Baoxiang spoke as if it were only natural. ”Since they’ve raised her for so many years, and they can afford it, how realistic of them! To think they’d just cast aside the precious treasure they once doted on. So heartless.”

Ye Bingkun bit back his urge to hit her. ”You are shameless.”

Zhang Baoxiang, not backing down an inch, bellowed, ”How am I shameless? Don’t they love Wen Yue? Why don’t they consider how Wen Yue feels?”

At this point, the only son of the third branch, Ye Wenqing, came in. ”Have you argued enough? This happens every few days. Aren’t you tired of it? We’re all tired. It’d be a cold day in hell before Sister Wenyue would want to come back.”

Seeing their son enter, the two of them restrained themselves somewhat.

Zhang Baoxiang, who doted on her son the most, said, ”If she doesn’t come back, then she doesn’t come back. It’s not like we were close to begin with. It would be even more awkward if she did.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Wenqing’s expression changed instantly. ”Mom, Sister Wenyue is your biological daughter, my biological sister. That was a bit too much.”

Zhang Baoxiang knew her son was angry. ”I also want to be close to her, but ever since everyone returned to their respective places, has she ever visited our home?”

For a while, Ye Wenqing didn’t know what to say. Sister Wenyue had rarely visited the third branch even before the baby-switching incident was exposed, and their relationship had grown even more distant. ”Mom, that’s exactly why we need to treat Sister Wenyue better so our relationship can gradually improve. If you’re not willing to make the slightest effort, what do you expect her to do?”

Zhang Baoxiang wanted to curse, but her son was her life, so she had to swallow her anger.

Meanwhile, hidden behind the gate, nine-year-old Ye Wenxia listened to the quarrel in the courtyard, inwardly hoping Sister Wenyue would never return.

I have so little favor in this family as it is, she thought. Eldest Sister Ye Wenjuan has finally gone to the countryside. If Cousin Wen Yue returns to this home now, my life will likely become even harder.

No matter how much Mom dislikes Cousin Wen Yue, if she really came back, Mom wouldn’t dare to treat her too poorly; after all, Dad wouldn’t allow it.

And if Mom is unhappy and unwilling to take it out on Eldest Brother, then I’ll become the punching bag. Burdensome thoughts like these made the little girl’s face cloud over with grievance.
