Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 486: Chapter 486: Friendship Comes When Least Expected

When Yunyi returned to her room, her expression instantly darkened.

Originally, she hadn’t wanted to get involved in these matters. However, the Zhang Family, the Qin Family, and even the Wu Family were all scheming and eyeing her and those close to her. In that case, they shouldn’t blame her for turning hostile.

She shut the door firmly and went straight into her space.

She prepared a bag of apples and a bag of oranges, and also packed two pouches of space-produced tea. After getting everything ready, she left the space.

She checked the time on her watch and then stepped out.

She wouldn’t be able to stay in Beijing for many days, and she still had many things to do. Some matters were best handled sooner rather than later. Any further delay, and the outcomes might already be set.

She left the house and boarded a bus heading to the Hua Family.

At this hour, there weren’t many passengers, so the bus wasn’t crowded. After paying for her ticket, she found an empty window seat at the back and settled down.

As she watched the pedestrians outside, the bus reached a stop, and more people boarded.

Someone sat in the empty seat beside her and exclaimed joyfully, ”It’s you!”

Upon hearing the voice, Yunyi turned and looked. ”It’s you.”

Both of them laughed.

The girl beside her smiled radiantly. ”We must really be fated to meet like this.”

Yunyi responded, ”Indeed, it seems we are quite fated.”

The girl laughingly extended her hand. ”I’m Xiu Ruiyi. And you?”

Yunyi also extended her hand. ”I’m Chuyunyi.”

Admiration filled Xiu Ruiyi’s eyes. ”Actually, on the train, I really wanted to get to know you. But since we had only met by chance, I was afraid it would be too abrupt, so I held back. I can’t believe we’ve run into each other again so soon!”

Yunyi had a good impression of this girl. ”Are you from Beijing, or are you here on business?”

Xiu Ruiyi offered Yunyi one of her candied hawthorn sticks. ”I’m from Beijing. A few days ago, I went to the army barracks to visit my brother. Here, try this. I bought it from a time-honored shop; I really love it.”

Yunyi naturally couldn’t refuse a new friend’s kindness. ”Thank you.”

Seeing Yunyi accept it, Xiu Ruiyi’s smile widened. ”Yunyi, where are you from?”

Yunyi replied with a faint smile, ”I’m also from Beijing. I’m currently working in the countryside in Ji Province.”

Saying this, she reached into her bag—in reality, drawing three oranges from her space. ”Courtesy demands reciprocity. Please have some oranges.”

Xiu Ruiyi didn’t refuse and accepted them with a smile. ”These oranges look so fresh! In that case, I won’t stand on ceremony.”

The two young women chatted away, one sentence after another, thoroughly enjoying themselves, and quickly hit it off.

Friendship blossomed unexpectedly. Just as Xiu Ruiyi was about to reach her stop, they exchanged contact information, promising to write to each other. Then, with a wave, Xiu Ruiyi bid Yunyi farewell and got off the bus.

Yunyi hadn’t expected to meet this girl again; she genuinely liked her forthright personality.

Even after the bus had traveled quite a distance, Yunyi could still see Xiu Ruiyi waving in the distance. A smile touched Yunyi’s lips.

Soon, she arrived at her stop. The bus came to a halt, and she stepped onto the platform, walking a short distance before finding a secluded spot to retrieve the gifts she had prepared in advance from her space.

The person who opened the door at the Hua Family home was Hua Wanqing’s sister-in-law, Xi Qunying. ”Oh my, it’s Young Miss Chu! When did you get back to Beijing?”

Yunyi smiled. ”I just got back and thought I’d come visit Grandpa Hua.”

She had barely finished speaking when she heard Old Master Hua’s voice from inside. ”Qunying, who is it?”

Xi Qunying turned and called back, ”Dad, it’s the young lady from the Chu Family.”
