Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 464: Chapter 464: How is it going, what’s the situation in the county?

Yunyi returned to Hua’an Farm Reclamation as dawn was breaking. She first visited the infirmary. Seeing that everything was in good order, she felt relieved enough to head back to the small courtyard behind it.

After returning to her room, she closed the doors and windows and entered her space directly. She took a set of clothes to the hot spring pool inside the stone house. After all, she had been tired all night, and soaking in the pool was so comfortable she nearly fell asleep. After changing her clothes, she drank a cup of Spiritual Spring Water and lay down on the kang bed outside. As for everything else, I’ll wait until I wake up and see Huo Jingrui.

But she didn’t get her wish. While she was sleeping soundly, someone knocked loudly on the outer gate, ”Doctor Chu, Doctor Chu!”

Yunyi heard the commotion outside and quickly got up to open the door, ”What’s the matter?”

Zhang Jiaqiao’s anxious voice came from outside, ”Doctor Chu, two pregnant women are going into labor at the same time, and we’re a bit overwhelmed up front. Doctor Qiu sent me to call you.”

Yunyi checked the time. It was almost nine o’clock. ”Alright, I’ll be right there.”

She drank another cup of Spiritual Spring Water from her space, tied up her hair, wiped the corners of her eyes with a damp towel, put on her coat, and headed out.

Doctor Qiu and the two doctors remaining from the commune’s health clinic waved her over urgently as they saw Yunyi approach. Doctor Qiu looked at Yunyi, ”Doctor Chu, we originally wanted to let you rest for half a day, but now we had to call you over.”

Yunyi saw them gathered there. ”Didn’t you say two pregnant women are going into labor at the same time? Why are you all still here?”

At that point, Doctor Liu from the commune’s health clinic spoke up, ”Although the poison in their bodies has been neutralized, it has indeed affected their health. I suspect the residual effects of the poison, in particular, may induce labor.”

Yunyi thought of something and quickly said, ”Have them drink more water. Try to flush out the residual poison through their urine.”

The doctors exchanged glances and nodded. ”That’s all we can do now.”

Hopefully, the pregnant women in their earlier trimesters won’t lose their babies because of this incident.

Throughout the morning, aside from the two women already nearing their due dates, no other pregnant women experienced emergencies. This somewhat reassured everyone. However, some pregnant women and their families were visibly anxious, fearing the poison’s effects on their unborn children. When Yunyi came out of the delivery room, she also checked the pulses of all the pregnant women. Aside from one who was already in poor health, the others seemed fine.

They were busy until just before dinner. The pregnant women in their earlier trimesters and those who had given birth the previous night were gradually taken home by their families. After all, if there were no further issues, they couldn’t stay at the infirmary indefinitely. The pregnant women from the logging camp were picked up together by the camp’s leaders. Only the two women who had given birth that day remained in the infirmary. The plan was to observe them for another night and, if there were no issues, discharge them the next day. Qiao Shaoguo had prepared a thank-you gift for each of the doctors who had come from the commune’s health clinic to help. He also arranged for the Agricultural Reclamation Group’s tractor to take them back.

Seeing that everything had settled down, Yunyi was about to go to the canteen for food when she saw a jeep approaching in the distance.

Huo Jingrui got out of the jeep, carrying several food containers, ”Yi’er.”

Qiao Shaoguo saw him and quickly went up to him, ”How are things? What’s the situation in the county?”

Huo Jingrui looked around, his tone somewhat heavy as he said, ”We managed to thwart the enemy agents’ conspiracy in time, but unfortunately, we lost two public security officers.”

They had just breathed a sigh of relief, but their spirits plummeted upon hearing the latter part of his statement. They gritted their teeth, feeling intense hatred towards the enemy agents responsible.
