Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 481: Chapter 481 Just Take It as My Plea to You

Yunyi gave a faint smile. ”Yes, he’s truly wonderful.”

Auntie Wei did not return with her to the Chu Family courtyard. ”Yunyi, I have some things to take care of at home, so I’ll head back now. The water on the kitchen stove should still be warm. If you’re going to clean your rooms, use that water.”

Yunyi smiled, thanked her, and they parted ways.

It wasn’t that Auntie Wei was unwilling to help clean; she knew Yunyi definitely wouldn’t want outsiders entering her rooms, especially since those rooms were usually locked. Auntie Wei could more or less guess Yunyi’s intentions.

「Meanwhile, at the Qin Family’s residence in Beijing, the phone in the living room began to ring.」

Old Master Qin reached for the phone. ”Hello, who are you looking for?”

An anxious voice came from the other end. ”Grandpa, it’s Bingjie.”

Old Master Qin frowned when he heard it was his grandson. ”Why are you calling?”

A few days ago, he’d suffered minor injuries during chaos in the cafeteria. By the time he recovered and went to look for Chuyunyi, he learned she had taken leave and returned to Beijing. ”Grandpa, Chuyunyi is back in Beijing. I want to ask you to go and find her. I’m afraid only she might be able to help resolve my mom’s situation.”

Old Master Qin’s brow furrowed deeply. He knew the offense his adopted daughter had committed wasn’t something a mere letter of forgiveness could resolve. ”Bingjie, I understand how you feel, but your mother didn’t just make a small mistake; she broke the law.

Surely, you know that the marriage between the Chu Family and the Qin Family has been annulled. Moreover, it was the Qin Family who wronged Yunyi. How could I possibly have the face to go and ask for forgiveness?”

Wu Bingjie grew anxious. ”At a time like this, how can we worry about all that? If Mom is really sentenced, Grandpa, it will reflect poorly on you too. Shouldn’t we be trying everything to cover this up?”

Old Master Qin sounded irritated. ”She broke the law. Even if I were to swallow my pride and beg for help, it’s impossible for her to be acquitted. You should understand that.”

Wu Bingjie was silent for a long moment. ”Grandpa, you’re right. But she’s my mother, after all. Even if it’s just to get her a few years less, I’m begging you.”

Old Master Qin knew that ever since Yunyi left the Qin Family, the relationship between their families had completely dissolved. For him to now go and plead because of his adopted daughter’s actions... he truly couldn’t bring himself to do it.

Wu Bingjie sensed that his grandfather had probably already given up on his mother, this adopted daughter, in his heart. Yet, apart from his grandfather, he couldn’t think of anyone else. ”Grandpa, even if Mom is your adopted daughter, she still bears the Qin surname. No matter what, she’s tied to the Qin Family’s honor and disgrace. If her reputation is ruined, it won’t just affect us, her children; even our cousins will be implicated.”

He didn’t know what else to say. Right now, he just wanted his grandfather to intervene; even a few years off her sentence would be something. He feared that by now, even his own father might be thinking of giving up on his mother.

Old Master Qin could tell his grandson was truly desperate. If he didn’t agree to make this trip today, he feared this grandson would resent the Qin Family in the future. ”Very well, I’ll go. But I can’t guarantee whether I’ll be able to obtain a letter of forgiveness.”

Wu Bingjie let out a sigh of relief. ”Grandpa, I understand, I understand. Thank you.”

After hanging up the phone, he immediately went to find Ye Wenjuan. ”Wenjuan, I know I shouldn’t ask you, but I have no other choice right now. So please, I’m begging you. Considering how much I’ve cared for you over the years, can you help me out?”

Ye Wenjuan wore a troubled expression. ”Brother Jie, you know that even though I grew up in the Ye Family, I don’t have any real authority there. Not to mention, they’re probably furious with me right now. I really can’t help Auntie.”
