Reborn as an Extra

Chapter 446: The Demon Prince and The Exception. Part-3.

After reading the memories of the demon hound, Rio got curious about the abnormal situation and decided to go in the direction where the werewolf had escaped.

’hmm... this is difficult... finding where it escaped is like looking for a needle in a haystack...’

Rio only found out about the general direction in which the wolf had escaped; he doesn’t actually know the location where it could have gone to.

Moreover, the continuous snowfall has left no footprints or any other traces behind.

Even the miasma in the area isn’t useful to trace it.

”If only I could the memory of that abnormal werewolf...”

The moment Rio finished reading the memories of the demon hound, all those virtual projections of memories collapsed instantly.

Due to that, Rio couldn’t read the memories of another demon hound or that werewolf.

Even the constant flow of miasma collapsed and shifted.

’It seems that the ’spire of ascension’ sensed my interference...’

Rio used his sword technique and sword intent to interfere with the memories of Alverto that were being used to stabilize this floor, and the Spire of Ascension likely sensed this change.

Thus, it immediately shifted the location of the memories to some other place far away from Rio to prevent continuous interruption.

This weird situation gave Rio another clue about how the Spire of Ascension fundamentally worked.

’Based on this situation, if I can interrupt the memories implanted on every floor then I can completely destroy the spire of ascension and foil whatever plan Alverto has...’

’But that’s extremely difficult... I would need to be an SS-ranker to accomplish something like that...’

The Spire of Ascension has a never-ending supply of miasma as its energy source.

Rio doesn’t know where all this never-ending energy is coming from, but this immense energy is constantly repairing everything in the spire of ascension.

To destroy an entire floor of the Spire of Ascension in one go, Rio will need massive energy output.

’I will need energy output vast enough to instantly obliterate an entire solar system and reduce it into nothingness... only SS-rankers can do something like that...’

’Even among SS-rankers, you would need stronger ones to do something like that...’

Rio knows that Jin and Alverto fought onfloor 7, yet the floor wasn’t destroyed completely.

Although Jin and Alverto’s battle caused massive holes in the entire floor and caused massive-scale destruction, it still remained intact.

This is because that vast ocean is as big as a solar system; it’s immense!

’I think I know who can destroy it all, though...’

Ashtel’s face appeared in Rio’s mind while thinking about this.

Although Rio hasn’t seen Ashtel’s full combat capabilities, he’s quite sure that obliterating a solar system is very easy for someone like Ashtel.

’He even shattered the space-time fabric to protect Link from heavenly punishment...’

’I won’t even be surprised if he shattered a star simply by sneezing on it...’

In the original novel, Ashtel died to plot, and Fade kept running and avoiding him the entire time till Ashtel was dead.

’I wonder when I will reach that level... sigh, I have only reached S-rank now... yet I still have a long ’Path’ ahead...’

At Rank S, every stat point and every basic attribute gets sublimated to a higher standard.

Even if someone has only 101 points in speed after ascension to S-rank, the difference will be vast compared to someone who has 100 in speed before ascending to rank S.

This is because they are fundamentally different.

S-rankers are beings that have broken through the limitation of their genes; they have extremely strong life force.

The same 100 points of stat in speed will now provide higher base speed bonuses and take a person’s capabilities to a higher realm.

’It’s almost as if I have become a higher being and am not just a normal human anymore...’

While thinking about various things in his mind, Rio kept searching everywhere for a clue, but he just couldn’t find anything.

’This won’t do... I need a proper tracking method for this...’

Rio stopped moving for a second and unsheathed his sword again.

He held his sword with both hands and brought it in front of him as he channeled sword intent into it once again.

Usually, Rio’s sword intent is extremely violent and is always ready to burst out to kill and destroy everything, but there are two situations when it calms down.

One is when Rio actively calms it down to keep it in check to prevent it from harming others when he touches somebody, and the other is when he touches Lia or Lia touches him.

As Lia is considered an exception, Rio’s sword intent does not attack her and calms down instantly when she touches him so that she doesn’t get hurt.

Rio didn’t notice this situation until the tournament of supreme tournaments, when he had to fight Lia.

His own sword intent refused to work against Lia; he had to forcefully channel it to actually use it in that battle.

This situation made Rio understand that ’Once awakened, a legendary skill get attached to a person’s soul; its basic nature becomes similar to a person primary emotions and feelings.’

As Rio is inherently a very cautious person and doesn’t trust people easily, his sword intent mirrors this effect and is usually very violent against everyone.

Calming it down takes quite the effort.

”Phew...”

Rio took a deep breath and stopped thinking about any irrelevant things at that moment; he actively calmed down his sword intent and entered a meditative state instantly.

After a few seconds of calm, his eyes opened slowly, and his dark black pupils shone with a new light of inspiration.

”Here we go...”

[Sword Sage’s Enlightenment: Soul Fluctuation Radar!]

Rio’s sword vibrated a little as his sword intently shone with a cold black miasmic glow that radiated outwards.

A flow of miasmic energy swept the surrounding area, and all the soul fluctuations in the area became visible to Rio.

As Rio can use mana, miasma, and sword intent while also having control over soul type, time type, and space type, he is capable of merging them all into one.

Rio’s unique sword style, ’Sword Sage’s Enlightenment,’ comes from the skills that he has created from merging several various different types of skills from the elemental sword art into one.

This time Rio merged several of them again and added a new skill to his unique sword skill arsenal.

The reason why Rio added the words ’Sage’ and ’enlightenment’ to his new sword style was also because they accurately represent how he’s learned several unique forms and styles and has merged them all into one.

On the ’Path’ of ’Swordsmanship,’ Rio has attained enough merits to claim the title of the ’Sword Sage’ indeed.

”There you are...”

Rio glanced in the direction of the familiar soul fluctuation, and a rare smile appeared on his face.

[D*mn!... so you can actually smile!?]

”Of course I can... I used to smile all the time before...”

Thinking about this matter, Rio felt a bit complicated.

Ever since he came in this body, he’s lost his smile; he used to be much happier before despite living a very boring life.

’Well, least I have Lia now...’

Rio shook his head and stopped thinking about these distracting thoughts immediately and flew in the direction of the soul fluctuation instantly.

The very moment he had seen that werewolf from the memory of the demon hound, he had already remembered its soul fluctuations, and he was extremely sure that this soul fluctuation belonged to it.

Although the memory stored in this place has disappeared, it has only been a while since it disappeared, so the soul fluctuations still linger.

Rio followed them till the end, and he finally arrived at a massive hole in the ground.

’What is this place? The werewolf went inside it to escape the demon hounds?’

Without thinking too much, Rio immediately jumped inside and landed on the ground without creating any noise.

*Thump* *Thump*

’This...’

The very moment Rio entered this place, his heart started to beat loudly all of a sudden, and he felt a weird sense of anxiety and excitement rise inside him from the very depths of his soul.

A look of caution and vigilance appeared on his face instantly.

’The memory stored in this place is so strong that it’s affecting the reality and is even affecting me?’

Rio felt the extremely rare emotion ’nervousness’ for the first time in a while at this moment.

Even his face wasn’t as expressionless as usual anymore.

His grip on his sword tightened as he slowly started to move deeper into the hidden tunnel nearby.

The further he walked, the more restless his heart became, as if his body was telling him to stop and leave this place immediately.

Rio didn’t even have the time to speculate or question anything anymore; the atmosphere in this place was extremely heavy, and his soul felt pressured from just being here.

After walking for a while, Rio finally reached a new memory.

His eyes widened as he saw an injured and younger version of Alverto and the werewolf standing nearby.

It was as if Rio was witnessing something he shouldn’t; he felt extremely out of place, and a massive force of repulsion was constantly assaulting his body.

At this moment in time, the demon prince that shouldn’t have existed, the exception that came out of nowhere, and the anomaly that became real from nothingness all seemed to have established a strange connection.

It was bizarre yet extremely fascinating.

The three forces of ’Change’ that shouldn’t have existed seemed to have collided in the same place.

As if their ’Path’ had brought them all to the same ’Intersection’ of ’Reality.’
