Reborn as an Extra

Chapter 431 The Duel of Time and Existence... Part-3.

Contrary to Rioʼs previous world, this one is heavily influenced by mana and miasma; thus, the ʼlawsʼ and ʼrulesʼ of this world are also a bit different in their own ways.

In this world, ʼtimeʼ is not a seemingly invisible, non-existent power.

Everything in this world is made up of ʼElementalsʼ.

Elementals are essentially simple atoms that are influenced by mana and miasma in various ways and forms.

ʼTime Elementalsʼ fall in the same category; they influence the atoms, the space-time fabric and the world in their own way.

Jinʼs world authority ʼZeit Instanteʼ gives him the ability to use these time elementals and interfere with the flow of the ʼlawʼ of ʼtimeʼ a little bit.

In other words, Jin can use it to do attacks that will go back in time to hit his opponent or might go forward in the future to attack the opponent.

In Rioʼs world, this would have created a time paradox where it would become difficult to figure out the workings of time and laws, but in this world the ʼLawʼ of ʼTimeʼ is more self-conscious.

Each ʼLawʼ of the ʼWorldʼ in this universe is semi-self-conscious, capable of making their own simple decisions and choosing what they want to do in a particular circumstance.

Thus, whenever a person with the ʼWorld Authorityʼ over time elementals appears, the ʼLawʼ of ʼTimeʼ looks over them and makes sure that their activities donʼt create a ʼtime paradoxʼ.

The fact that all ʼLawsʼ of this world are partially conscious of their existence is also the reason why the ʼLegendary skillsʼ exist.

As they are immortal existences, they have no concept of death and birth; thus, passing time becomes really difficult with nothing to do in hand.

The ʼLegendary Skillsʼ came into existence just because of this utter boredom that the ʼLawsʼ of the ʼWorldʼ face throughout their existence.

To relieve themselves of their boredom, they grant a part of their abilities to an individual of their liking and help them achieve their goals and ambitions.

For the people of this universe, gaining the liking of a ʼlawʼ of the ʼworldʼ is a huge matter, but for the ʼlawsʼ themselves, itʼs just a matter of choosing a person of their liking and enjoying the show.

World Authorities on the other hand, are granted by the ʼWorldʼ itself. They are basically a small amount of authority over particular things granted to the individuals called ʼDemi-godsʼ.

To put it simply, legendary skills and world authorities are entirely different concepts, yet they share many similar features.

The more favor of the ʼlawʼ you gain, the more powerful your ʼLegendary skillʼ will become.

This is also the reason why people like Ashtel and Idri never gained a ʼLegendary Skillʼ despite having insane talents and capabilities.

Itʼs not that they are lacking in any way; itʼs just that they arenʼt ʼlikedʼ by the ʼlawsʼ of the ʼworldʼ.

(Rioʼs case is a bit different though; heʼs not liked by the ʼLawʼ of ʼswordʼ much, yet his ʼsword intentʼ has become so strong that itʼs getting out of hand…)

On the other hand, world authorities are completely different; the more you train, the stronger your world authority will become.

Legendary skills are chance encounters, but world authorities are something that you gain with your own efforts, and you must train to strengthen them.

In their early awakened stages, world authorities are extremely weak.

For example, Jinʼs world authority is barely at the early stages of level 1; he can only go a few seconds backwards or forwards in time.

It is said that if someone with extremely high world authority level over time appears in this world, they would be able to travel backward and forward in time without any problems.

But this is strictly just speculation and guesswork; there has never been anyone who could achieve such a feat up until now.

In the first place, the only person who even reached the max world authority level up until now was King Allen Von Reinhart; there was no one who had reached his level in the long annals of history.

Reaching higher ʼworld authorityʼ levels is the goal of all SS-rankers; the same is true for Jin and Alverto both.

[World Authority: Zeit Instante!]

[Reverse Moon Sword Style: Time Leap: Thrust of illusion!]

As Jin took his stance and thrust his sword forward, he instantly used the time elementals and his world authority to make his sword travel back in time and attack Alvertoʼs heart.

This kind of time travel would have been impossible in normal circumstances, but Jinʼs world authority makes it possible.

If Jinʼs attack indeed hits the opponent by traveling back in time, it will be registered by the world that the opponent was in fact not injured but time elementals had entered their body in the place of injury.

Thus, when the attack will actually happen in the ʼfutureʼ, the time elementals will react and create the corresponding wound on the body of the opponent, and the world will register it as an attack that happened in the ʼpresentʼ not in the ʼpastʼ.

This will easily bypass the various time paradoxes and render the opponent defenseless against the userʼs attacks.

[World Authority: Hand of Chronos!]

Alverto smirked a bit and waved his hand; the time elementals in his body instantly dispersed and rendered Jinʼs attack completely useless by making it so that his attack never happened.

Alverto isnʼt actually an SS-ranker, but using the power of the spire of ascension, heʼs granted himself the status of an SS-ranker and thus has his own world authority right now.

His world authority, ʼHand of Chronosʼ grants him the ability to bend the time elementals and the law of timeʼs concepts in his own favor for a short time frame.

For a short time, he can command the time elementals and make any attacks that Jin used to attack his past or future self instantly useless.

”This wonʼt work on me, Jin Walt! Try harder!!”

[Chronos: Bypass: Shattered time leap!]

Alverto thrust his spear and attacked Jin by directly bypassing any defenses he had placed to counter him.

The very moment Jin saw that attack and sensed the shift in the time elementals he figured out that this is likely the attack that beat Rio and the others so easily back in Oaklum.

At that time, Alverto had easily bypassed Rioʼs shadow robe.

Originally, Jin was confused about how someone like Alverto, whoʼs only an S-ranker, could use time elementals to such an extent, but now that heʼs seeing it himself, heʼs finally understood one key thing.

That is, Alverto is a ʼGeniusʼ beyond comparison when it comes to time manipulation.

The reason why Alverto could do this so effortlessly is because heʼs a once in a millennia type of genius who has insanely high affinity for time elementals.

Alverto literally used the time elementals to ʼRevertʼ his opponent back in time.

The moment Alverto had punched Rioʼs shadow robe, he literally reverted that particular spot on Rioʼs body back into time.

He turned that area of Rioʼs body back to a time when Rio had not yet covered it with the shadow robe.

He did the exact same thing with Jin just now and directly bypassed the sword that came to defend against his spear, and his spear instantly stabbed Jin in the left shoulder.

Jinʼs left arm was ripped apart, and it flew away into distance from the sheer force of the attack, but Alverto didnʼt stop there; he twisted his body and kicked Jin in the stomach!

*BOOOOM!*

Jin flew away like a cannonball, and an extremely powerful sonic boom spread in all directions!

Jin barely stopped himself from falling into the ocean below and stood up again while staring at Alverto.

ʼF*cking Monster… This guy is insane; no wonder he has such high confidence that he will definitely change the world with his own powers-ʼ

[Soul Resonance!]

[Soul Art: Stillness of Absolute Calm!]

Before Jin even had the time to think of a countermeasure, he suddenly lost control over his body for a millisecond, and as if his soul itself had become restrained, he wasnʼt able to move or even think about anything in that instant.

*BOOOM!*

Taking advantage of that opportunity, Alverto kicked Jin in the chest with insane strength and sent him flying in the sky.

Then he teleported beside Jin in the sky and punched his in the same spot again in the chest!

Jin regained consciousness only to find his entire ribcage shattered and his lunges reduced to powder.

He coughed up a mouthful of blood, and his clothes got covered in his own blood.

Jinʼs eyes widened in sheer shock at this moment while falling down; even though it took a while, Jin had understood it all.

He knew what Alverto did just now.

Alverto literally influenced his ʼsoulʼ which was still in his body, and forced his ʼsoulʼ to remain still.

This way, Jin was neither able to attack nor defend against Alvertoʼs onslaught in that small instant.

ʼS-soul resonance!?.... A legendary skill!?... insanity!! Pure insanity!!!ʼ

Jin had never thought, even in his wildest dreams, that he would one day end up facing an opponent who has a legendary skill that can influence the souls of the creatures themselves!

The biggest shock was the fact that despite having such high affinity with time elementals, the legendary technique that Alverto showed was ʼSoul Resonanceʼ, which is completely unrelated to his other abilities!

”Do you see it now, Jin Walt? This is the reason why I willingly took part in the clear heart ritual. I am just that strong. If you want to deal with the current me, you should have brought Ashtel with you...”

In that moment, Jin had figured out that Alverto was way stronger than he was showing himself to be.
