Reborn as an Extra

Chapter 434: Harmony of opposing ’Paths’... Part-1

As Riya poured her healing magic into Jin’s near-dead body, she used an artifact from her space ring to send back a signal to Link.

Before the two of them separated, she had given Link a message-receiver-type artifact that would convey her message.

This way, if Riya and Lia find that the source of the soul manipulation skills is too strong for them, they can send back a message to Link and Rio to ask them to come over for help.

’It will take them a while to arrive here, even at the latest... Moreover, it’s highly likely that either Link or Rio, only one of them, will come; after all, they still have to keep all the monsters above at bay...’

Defeating Alverto alone would already be a very daunting task; if all those monsters rushed here and started to help him, they would have no chance at victory.

They will all end up dead here if something like that happens.

”I will go challenge him next...”

While Riya was busy dealing with Jin’s injured body, a determined look appeared on Lia’s face, and she clenched her sword tightly.

Riya can’t fight or do anything else when she’s busy with Jin, and if a disturbance were to occur in her healing magic, Jin’s life would be compromised.

Thus, Lia must keep Alverto confined to the lower floor and challenge him in Jin’s place; otherwise, he will rush to the upper floor at any moment.

”Wha!? What!? Wait-”

Before Riya could even react properly, Lia summoned Kai on her shoulder and jumped down without the slightest bit of hesitation.

”I leave the rest to you, Riya; make sure you heal me afterward...”

Lia knew that if she went to fight Alverto, she would likely lose this battle very easily, but she had faith in her teammates and in Riya’s healing skills, so she bet her life on the line to stall for time.

...

*BOOM!*

As Lia jumped down from the ceiling, she saw a vast ocean below and Alverto standing on its surface not too far away.

[Divine Spirit’s Blessing: Spirit Merge: Agility Mode!]

Lia used Kai’s blessing to the extreme and donned her silver armor once again; four silver wings, like a butterfly, stretched out from her back, and her armor seemed more agile-focused this time.

Her entire body shone with the aura of a divine spirit as she pointed her sword towards Alverto while flying in the air.

”Lia Silver, Master of Divine Spirit Kawa’ki! I shall be your next opponent!”

Just when Lia was introducing herself and formally accepting Alverto’s challenge, another person came crashing down from the ceiling and fell into the ocean water below.

Even Lia was surprised to see that familiar figure suddenly appear here.

It was none other than Riko Embeth.

*BOOM*

As if propelled by a powerful force, Riko jumped out of the water at an insanely fast speed, causing the water surface to burst open from below.

She suddenly brought out some kind of round-looking object from her space ring and swallowed it.

Her aura suddenly condensed all of a sudden, making even Lia feel a bit threatened.

”At Last!!! I finally found you!! Demon Prince Alverto!!! HAHAHAHAH!!!”

After swallowing that strange drug, Riko seemed to have lost a part of her consciousness.

She didn’t even bother greeting Lia; her eyes became bloodshot in an instant, and she started to laugh loudly like a maniac.

”HAHAHAHA!!! You killed Zach!!! You were the one who destroyed the final lifeline I had!! I swear to drag you to hell, you vile monstrosity!!! Hahahah!!!”

While Lia and Riko appeared to challenge Alverto simultaneously, he himself didn’t feel even a little bit of pressure at all.

A smile was etched on his face under the helmet all along.

In fact, he didn’t even consider Lia and Riko as people worthy enough to properly challenge him.

’There are only two people in this world that are worthy enough to actually destroy my plans... One is Ashtel Rex, and the other is Jin Walt...’

’Everyone else can be easily defeated by my plans and trickery... only these two were the biggest threat to the Spire of Ascension...’

’Ashtel is busy with Neo and will likely not be able to conserve power to fight me afterwards, and I have already dealt with Jin personally...’

’Even if they heal him now, he won’t be able to accomplish anything more than he already has...’

Jin could only use the power of the ’Shard of Chronos’ once; he can’t use it again; moreover, he even sacrificed his ’future’ in that final attack to stop the functioning of the Spire of Ascension.

Even if he recovered back to full health, he will only be an S-ranker at most; he’s already lost his ’world authority,’ and he’s lost his status as an SS-ranker as he sacrificed it all in that one attack.

Alverto, on the other hand, is still at the peak of his power.

While fighting Jin, he was only using the borrowed power from the Spire of Ascension; he hasn’t even used a tiny bit of his own mana up until now.

Not only does he have the legendary skill ’Soul Resonance,’ he’s completely unharmed and has many more tricks hidden in his sleeves.

To him, Lia and Riko are just two random flies that he can crush at any moment.

He glanced at Lia and spoke in an amused tone.

”Hoh... I remember you... Aren’t you that golden-haired kid whom I engraved the Curse mark on?...”

”Ah, I remember now...”

”I had engraved a curse mark on your mother, but she was useless... She was too weak to withstand its power...”

”She ended up losing all vitality and died due to that overtime, so I had no other choice but to go and find someone else...”

”That’s when I engraved the curse mark on you... Who could have thought that you would actually be able to destroy the curse mark placed on you...”

Alverto’s eyes narrowed as he glanced at that divine spirit aura.

”I see... So you managed to awaken the true power of a divine spirit... That’s why the curse mark got destroyed... No wonder I sensed the breaking of your curse mark...”

During the tournament of supreme talents, Rio’s interference and motivational words caused Lia to recognize the spirit power as her own, and she awakened the true power of Kai’s blessing.

That was the moment when she ascended to Rank A and finally got rid of the curse mark placed upon her soul.

From the very moment she fell in love with Rio, she subconsciously started to suppress the curse and never fell into darkness until she finally got rid of it all.

Even Lia herself didn’t know that being loved by Rio helped her escape a fate similar to that of Kira, who ended up becoming a puppet for Alverto.

(Keep in mind that in the original timeline of the novel, there was no Alverto, and thus there was no curse on Lia; she became a demon out of her own free will due to her depression...)

”You!”

A look of extreme anger appeared on Lia’s face after hearing Alverto’s words.

Her mother’s death is the biggest regret of her life. Her entire life got messed up solely because her mother died early.

If her mother were alive, then her father wouldn’t have become a workaholic, and she wouldn’t have had to live her entire childhood without being loved or cared for.

It was her biggest regret that she couldn’t hug her mother and stay by her side due to that unknown curse placed upon her.

Now that Lia has suddenly found out about the real reason why her mother died an untimely death and why she suffered so much, she couldn’t help but feel immense rage.

Not only did Alverto mess up her entire childhood, but he was also the reason why she was constantly starving for love.

[Calm down, kiddo; he’s purposely messing with you... Using tricks and deceitful means in combat is as easy as breathing for Demons...]

[Calm yourself down and don’t rush head-on like an idiot... You must remember the situation, and you must remember why you are here...]

Just when Lia was about to lose herself to rage and rush forward to attack Alverto, Kai’s voice appeared in her head, and she immediately calmed down.

Her anger subsided, and the frown on her face disappeared. She took a few deep breaths and started to think with a calm mind again.

’Yes, Kai is right... This isn’t the time to rush forward and be swept away by his taunts...’

’If I charge forward head-on, he will easily kill me right then and there. The reason I came down to this floor was to stall for time...’

’I need to keep him busy till Riya completes her healing and Rio joins the battle...’

Lia knows that Alverto is very strong, but she has faith in her heart that as long as she can stall for time and wait until Rio arrives, he will somehow make everything possible.

Up until now, whenever she has been stuck in a difficult position, just remembering his face and his presence alone has helped her many times.

Alverto’s schemes are spread far and wide; there are hundreds and thousands of victims who want him dead.

Lia, Riko, Rio, etc. are all just a few of them; there are many more people whose lives were affected or even destroyed by Alverto’s actions and plans.

They must put an end to Alverto’s plans today, or the count of his victims will just keep rising in the future, and there will never be an end to it.
