“I’m here to report for duty,” Lin Yi replied.

“Don’t tell me you’re also from the Office of Poverty Alleviation?”

Lin Yi didn’t feel anything toward Li Sijin. He was largely indifferent. He just felt that this was quite a coincidence.

Li Sijin, on the other hand, was a little bitter.

Fortunately, Tingting’s family had found someone to settle this matter. Otherwise, something might have happened to her job.

If that happened, it would have ruined all her previous efforts.

“Yeah.”

Li Sijin did not know how to describe this scene. The annoying guy she met yesterday had actually become her colleague.

If Tingting found out about this, she would be furious.

“You must be Lin Yi and Li Sijin.”

A middle-aged man walked over and smiled at the two of them.

The man was in his fifties. His skin was tanned and there were wrinkles at the corners of his eyes. He was wearing black trousers and a navy blue linen half-sleeve. He was wearing a pair of leather sandals and had a bunch of keys hanging from his waist. He looked rather plain.

The man’s name was Li Qingkai. He was the director of the Office of Poverty Alleviation and their immediate superior.

“That’s me.” Li Sijin nodded.

Lin Yi nodded in response.

“Come in first.”

Li Qingkai opened the door. The office was not big, only measuring about 20 square meters. There were three desks inside.

Two of them were very clean, obviously belonging to Lin Yi and Li Sijin.

“These are your tables. You can choose where you want to sit.”

“Okay.”

Lin Yi chose a table facing Li Qingkai so that he could slack off at work.

“Let me introduce myself first. I’m Li Qingkai. 1 hold the top position, while you are in the deputy roles. We aren’t exactly superiors and subordinates, but I’m older than you. If you don’t mind, you can call me ‘Brother Li.’ We’re going to work as a team, so let’s strive together to do our job well,” Li Qingkai said.

Li Qingkai was very sincere and his words were honest. Lin Yi immediately had a very good impression of him.

“We’re still very young. There are many things that we don’t do. We’ll have to rely on you to guide us,” Li Sijin said.

“Not really.” Li Qingkai smiled and said,

“Originally, you two wouldn’t have been assigned to work with me, but I requested it. I wanted some young blood on the team. I’m getting older, and my way of thinking is different from yours. Nowadays, in our line of work, we need the innovative ideas that young people like you bring. So, in our work, we have to blend the wisdom of experience with the fresh thinking of the youth. Let’s communicate more and strive to do our job well, with the goal of achieving poverty alleviation as soon as possible,” Li Qingkai explained.

“Understood.”

“I have some information about our county. Take a look first and understand the situation.” Li Qingkai took out a few folders and said.

“By the way, Little Li, 1 noticed in your file that you live in the nearby Ankou Town and you worked as a village official for two years while studying at university, and then you passed an exam to work here, right?” Li Qingkai inquired.

“Yes, that’s correct.”

“That’s great. You can be considered a local. Little Lin came from Zhonghai and is not familiar with the situation here. In the future, the two of you should communicate more and try to get up to speed as soon as possible.” Li Qingkai said.

“I have a meeting later, so I won’t talk to you guys for now. I’ll get someone to send the office supplies over later. Make do with them for now.”

“Oh, oh, got it.”

After Li Qingkai left, only Lin Yi and Li Sijin were left in the office.

Neither of them spoke. They picked up the documents on the table and began to read.

Lin Yi, on the other hand, was a little surprised by Li Sijin’s experience.

Considering her looks, it’s quite surprising that she could become a village official whilst also being a university student.

The two of them spent the entire morning flipping through the documents.

Lin Yi also had some understanding of the situation in Dongsan County.

Coupled with his conversation with Liang Ruoxu, Lin Yi already had a clear goal.

In order to get out of poverty, per capita income was indispensable. The per capita annual income had to reach 4,000 yuan. However, in addition to these, health care and education had to be guaranteed.

However, with the current situation in Dongsan County, this might be a little difficult.

The young people had left, and the families did not have much land. When it rained and the water rose, they faced the risk of flooding every year.

Moreover, the land was alkaline, so the production of food was greatly reduced…

There was a series of problems that troubled the development of this place.

Lin Yi kept tapping his fingers on the table, checking the location of the three counties with his phone to see if there were any geographical advantages.

In the end, they found that Dongsan County was not only at the border of Yuezhou City, but it was also very close to Jinshui City. It was a place that was not under any jurisdiction.

Originally, this area belonged to Yuezhou City, but after many years without significant development, it was reassigned to Yuhang City.

Yuhang didn’t want it, but it had no choice. It could only brace itself and accept them, but it also had no intention of developing the small county.

Landlocked, with no inland rivers, they lacked all the natural advantages of shipping.

Moreover, they were in such a complicated area. Forget geographical advantages, they were at a natural disadvantage.

The mission given to him by the system this time was really difficult.

Even if Lin Yi could make a name for himself and get some companies to build factories here, he had to show these investors practical benefits.

If they couldn’t see it, Lingyun Group would have to bite the bullet themselves.

Otherwise, no one would budge.

However, there was no point in doing this since it would not be challenging.

Crack…

The office door was pushed open and Li Qingkai walked in.

“Brother Li.”

The two of them greeted him in unison.

“How did it go? Do you have any ideas?” Li Qingkai asked with a smile.

“I think we have to find Dongsan County’s competitive advantage and target this. Only then will there be hope.”

Li Qingkai smiled. “You’re from here. You should know what Dongsan County is like. Can we identify any advantages?”

Li Sijin’s words were utterly pointless.

If there was really a way, he would have used it long ago. He wouldn’t have waited until now.

“What about you, Little Lin? Any thoughts?”

“Nope,” Lin Yi threw the documents in his hand aside, stretched, and said with a smile,

“I feel that it’s already very impressive that Dongsan County can even maintain this level of development under such circumstances. Why don’t we dream together? In dreams, anything is possible.”

Because the three of them weren’t considered superiors and subordinates, Lin Yi didn’t really hold back when he spoke.

“Don’t talk nonsense, kid. It’s not good if others hear you.”

“Understood.”

“But you’re right. Things indeed aren’t easy in the county.” Li Qingkai said.

“Our work here is relatively lax. If you have nothing to do in the afternoon, you can go to the grassroots level to take a look and understand the situation on the ground. It will definitely be better than reading pages of information.” “That’s what I was thinking. A field trip.”

“Oh right, there’s something else.” Li Qingkai looked at Lin Yi and said.

“That car with the number 99887 outside, is it yours?”

“Yes, what’s wrong? Are you going to get me a pass?”

“A pass for what?” Li Qingkai chuckled.

“Your circumstances are different. Your car is quite impressive. Try to drive it less. Otherwise, in less than a week, you’ll become famous in Dongsan County..”
