Qiu Yuluo looked at Lin Yi but didn’t say anything.

Lin Yi was the only person in the entire brigade who would dare to say something like this.

Despite this, from the looks of it, Lin Yi had his own reasons for saying that.

After all, Director Liu and Director Cao were the ones who typically attended the handover for the other team leaders. Old Master Lu would never normally bother with such trivial matters.

After the two of them finished the handover, the meeting entered the final stretch.

They discussed a detailed summary and plan.

However, in Lin Yi’s eyes, all of this was nonsense.

This was because important matters were never discussed in these sorts of meetings.

About half an hour later, the meeting ended and the participants left one after another.

Meanwhile, Lin Yi, Qiu Yuluo, and Ning Che went to Liu Hong’s office because they had something to talk to them about.

After another twenty minutes, Liu Hong walked in and said to Lin Yi,

“Kid, you’re too stubborn. Wang Mian took the initiative to shake hands with you, but you actually ignored him. Do you know how awkward the scene was at that time?”

“Who asked him to act tough? I really can’t stand it.”

“I’ve heard about what happened between you guys. Since it’s all in the past, it’s better to be magnanimous.”

“Unfortunately, I’m a petty person. He has already frustrated me so much, so what I did was already considered being polite.”

Liu Hong smiled and shook his head. He couldn’t control Lin Yi’s temper.

“Alright, let’s change the topic. I’ve gathered the three of you here to talk about your respective teams.”

“Are we recruiting members?”

“I was thinking of this.” Liu Hong said,”

“Other than Wu Han Quan and Cui Chang Zhe, the rest of Team 1 also sent me resignation requests.”

“They all left?

“That’s right.” Liu Hong said.

“They think that Lin Yi used underhanded approaches to push Wang Mian out. In addition, they fought side by side for a few years and formed a deep friendship with each other, so, they decided to resign alongsidee Wang Mian.”

“Team 1 still has missions to complete on Tilla Island. If they all resign, what will become of the missions there?”

“That’s not a big deal. Team l’s mission wasn’t critical, to begin with. I’ve already handed it over to Team 4. to take over. With those old guys holding the fort, the situation will stabilize.”

Lin Yi rubbed his chin. He had long known that there were a total of four groups in the Central Guards Brigade’s combat department.

He had already met everyone in the first to third teams. Only the people in Team 4 remained elusive. He had not seen a single one of them. Presumably, in the four groups, they were the true trump cards. They could be considered the pillars of the organization.

“But a few months ago, we held a trial training, and the results were quite disappointing. If we try again, the outcome won’t be much better,” said Ning Che.

“We have already discussed this matter during our meetings. We decided to abandon the previous recruitment method and adopt a national conscription approach to handle this.”

“National conscription?” Qiu Yuluo and Ning Che were both surprised.

“Are you ready to forego the restrictions this time?”

“We have no choice but to relax our requirements.” Liu Hong said, “There are only a few people left in your Team 2 and Team 3, and Team l’s situation is even more clear-cut. Lin Yi is the only one left. If we can’t gather new members in time, the Central Guards Brigade might as well shut down.”

“Apart from that, prepare to expand your Team 3 to 30 people per team.”

“No way!”

Before Lin Yi could say anything, Qiu Yuluo and Ning Che spoke in unison.

“Huh?”

Their actions stunned Liu Hong. “This seems to be the first time the two of you have reached a consensus.”

“We think it’s better to have less members.”

Liu Hong smiled and took out three cigarettes. He handed one to Ning Che and the other to Lin Yi.

However, Lin Yi waved his hand and didn’t take it.

Liu Hong did not think too much about it and lit his own cigarette.

“In the past, most of the recruits were taken from internal selections in Yanjing, so most of the candidates were from Yanjing. Even if there were occasional candidates from outside the province, they were all recommended by our old comrades, so the Central Guards Brigade is still relatively closed.” Liu Hong flicked the ashes of his cigarette.

“If the rules of the trial are relaxed this time, there will be many more people who will come for the trial. Certain high-level people will also come. It’s possible that the results of the trial will exceed your imagination.”

“But our cultivation method is quite a niche subject, and almost everyone who knows how to exert force in their dantian is concentrated in Yanjing. Even if we recruit all the soldiers in the country, we might not see much success,” Qiu Yuluo said.

“What do you think” Liu Hong looked at Ning Che and asked.

Ning Che shrugged. “I feel the same way.”

Liu Hong looked at Lin Yi and said.

“He’s not from Yanjing either. He’s the boss of a self-made start-up company. Your two families have accumulated so much wealth over the years, but they’re not as good as him. He’s not from Yanjing either, and he’s an orphan. How can you explain this?”

Lin Yi,

‘Are you praising me or scolding me?

‘I’m so awesome not because I’m a genius, but because I’m a cheater!’

“Furthermore, the way you look at the problem is too superficial and limited. Yanjing isn’t the only place in the country that knows about this kind of cultivation method. Over the years, the people who have spread out from the Central Guards Brigade have also developed many talents in various places. Therefore, I’m very confident in this national conscription.”

Liu Hong’s words rendered both of them speechless.

What he said seemed to make sense.

“This time, in addition to nationwide recruitment, we have also relaxed the age limit, allowing candidates up to forty years old. So, this trial training is a groundbreaking initiative for the Central Guards Brigade. I hope it will be a success.”

“Then let’s choose the best candidates. I have my own criteria for selecting people anyway. If they’re outstanding, it won’t be a problem to take in more people. But if they’re not, I can’t use them to make up the numbers,” Qiu Yuluo said.

“I understand what you mean. That’s why we’re only temporarily recruiting so many people. How many we actually do take in will depend on the final situation. There’s no point discussing it now.”

“When will this be carried out?” Ning Che asked.

“I’m preparing to do it in the near future.” Liu Hong said.

“However, this isn’t the most important thing over the horizon. The two people who died in Team 1 and the Bass ore that was taken away are what we need to address now.”

Qiu Yuluo and Ning Che nodded. It was time to get down to business.

Instinctively, the two of them looked at Lin Yi.

Wang Mian was originally in charge of this matter, but he had already resigned, so it naturally fell to Lin Yi.

“I have a question.” Lin Yi said.

“If those two were still alive, would they have resigned along with Wang Mian?”

Liu Hong frowned slightly. “That’s not what you should be concerned about. What you should be concerned about is how to handle this matter.”

“My thoughts might be a little unsentimental.” Lin Yi pointed at Qiu Yuluo and Ning Che.

“If these two ladies were harmed, I would definitely take revenge without hesitation. But now, asking me to help two people who were unwilling to fight and might have even turned against me if they had survived doesn’t exactly motivate me. I’m not really lusting for revenge. I’m sorry, I’m not a power generator, and I won’t generate electricity for the sake of love..”
