The two of them lit their cigarettes as white smoke filled the office.

Sunlight shone in from the outside, making it seem like a big shot was discussing something.

Everyone was a businessman, so they all understood one thing.

The real big things were not discussed in the conference room.

It was precisely in private offices like these where deals were struck.

“Director Shen, how’s the progress on the photolithography machine? How long will it take for it to be released?”

“According to the original plan, we should be ready by now. However, we have made new breakthroughs in some key technologies recently, so we want to replace this part of the machine with domestically produced component. It will be ready in about a month.”

Lin Yi nodded. Lithography machines were not something that any country could easily handle on its own. Therefore, from the beginning, the research institute had worked on attracting foreign investment to support this project.

If the conditions allowed, they would prefer to use only domestically-produced components. Whether it was now or in the future, this was part of the core strategic plan.

“There’s no hurry. I’m just here to take a look since I have nothing to do. Director Shen, you can decide how to take care of this.”

Shen Tianzhuo smiled as he poured a cup of tea for Lin Yi.

“I understand what you mean, but no matter what, you’re still the boss. When we’re working, we must set aside personal relationships. Otherwise, it won’t be easy for me to remain professional.”

Lin Yi had always respected Shen Tianzhuo.

Professional competence is one of the important reasons for his respect, but it was not solely due to that.

After interacting with him for a long time, Lin Yi realized that Shen Tianzhuo was a person who was very skilled in both core requirements.

He was very particular about his words and actions. He did not overstep his authority and was considered a good employee of Huaxia.

Sometimes, when he thought about it, he felt lucky to have met employees like Shen Tianzhuo and Qi Xianzhao.

But then he thought again, he had also encountered He Yuanyuan, which could be considered as a wicked karma from his past life.

After chatting with Shen Tianzhuo about the photolithography machine, Lin Yi drove to Longxin Research Institute.

In addition to the lithography machine, the new phone operating system was one of the most important projects in Lingyun Group, ensuring that they were very well-balanced in all aspects.

It was already past four in the afternoon when Lin Yi left Longxin’s office. He went to Ji Qingyan’s place to pick her up from work.

“Did Yuanyuan tell you about the group’s overseas trip?” Ji Qingyan asked.

“What trip?!”

“It’s a benefit offered by the company.”

“Didn’t you catch up once when you were working here? The Lingyun Group is such a big business. You have to offer good benefits and treatment. Otherwise, the employees won’t acknowledge you.”

“I’ve never thought about this before, and I’ve never heard them mention it.”

“I think they only held a meeting to discuss it in the past few days. They probably didn’t tell you before the results came out. They’ll definitely ask for your opinion when the time comes.”

“I don’t mind them going overseas for a holiday, but I have a feeling that He Yuanyuan was the one who suggested it. She just wants to travel using company funds.”

“Don’t say that. After all, Yuanyuan is an executive. She earns a few million a year, so she won’t need to freeload on company air miles.” Ji Qingyan smiled.

“Besides, her relationship with Gao Zongyuan is quite stable. He’s also from a famous rich family. How could he lack such a small sum of money?”

“No, you don’t understand He Yuanyuan,” Lin Yi said.

“A professional player like her has always gotten off by spending other people’s money. She won’t let go of such a good opportunity.”

Buzz buzz buzz!

Just as the two of them were talking, Lin Yi’s phone rang. It was a video call from Qi Xianzhao.

Generally speaking, if he video called Lin Yi, it meant that there was a private matter to be discussed. He would choose to call if it was work-related.

Just as Lin Yi had expected, not only was Qi Xianzhao in the video, but also He Yuanyuan and Tian Yan.

“President Lin, we’ve been in a meeting for the past two days. We want to organize a trip overseas as a form of benefit for our employees. We want to discuss it with you.”

“That’s a good perk. I’m all for it.” Lin Yi said.

“Have you decided where you want to go?”

“I originally planned for them to go to Ouzhou, but some time ago, something happened to a Meiguon company there, so we temporarily changed the destination to Sunrise Land.”

“This must be He Yuanyuan’s doing.”

“Hey, hey, hey, watch your words. What do you mean by my doing? This had nothing to do with me. The venue came down to a vote.”

“Are you sure?”

“Of course, I’m actually against this kind of thing. Not only is it a waste of time, but it’s also a waste of money. As an outstanding employee, I should devote my limited time to serving the company endlessly. Therefore, I detest such meaningless travel.”

“That’s great. Since you don’t want to go, stay and watch the company. Everyone will be out hanging fun so someone has to stay back and guard the house. You can help us do that.”

“F*ck, I beg you to be nice.” He Yuanyuan said,

“Let me tell you, not only do I want to go, but I also want to bring our Old Gao along. I have to take advantage of this.”

Lin Yi looked at Ji Qingyan. “Look at what I said. Even if someone like her becomes the richest person in the world one day, she won’t be able to change her habit of taking advantage of others.”

Ji Qingyan rubbed her temples helplessly.

“Alright, you guys can discuss the travel plans among yourselves. Just remember the principle of eating well, drinking well, and having fun. For the frontline workers who can’t go, don’t forget to provide them with subsidies.”

“Got it, President Lin. I’ll make arrangements for this.”

After hanging up the video call, Lin Yi lay on the sofa and played his phone games. Ji Qingyan continued to work on her work, and they left each other to their own devices.

That night, Lin Yi received a message from Yan Ci, informing him that he would attend the show’s investment meeting at nine o’clock tomorrow morning.

The next morning, Lin Yi drove Ji Qingyan to the office before heading to the Peninsula Hotel.

At the entrance of the hotel, an eye-catching noticeboard was set up to remind the people who came to participate in the investment meeting to go to the banquet hall on the second floor.

Apart from that, Lin Yi also realized that the investment meeting was quite well-known. There were many reporters attending from all four corners of the country.

This was probably all thanks to Xiao Lidong and the others. Yan Ci’s influence wasn’t that impressive yet.

“President Lin, you’re here.” Wang Tianlong greeted Lin Yi with a smile.

“How’s the hotel?”

“Under your leadership, the performance in the second quarter has increased by 11% compared to last year, and it is estimated that the second quarter will set another record high.”

“Stop it. If you continue talking like this, you’ll make me blush.”

“I’m telling the truth. Although you don’t come to the hotel often, your spirit has always pushed us to keep moving forward.”

“Stop, stop, stop! Something is affecting all of you. If you keep talking about it, I might as well leave..”
