Chapter 678 - 678 Douyuʼs Internal Meeting

678 Douyu’s Internal Meeting

Meng Jinyang’s words made the fans in Lin Yi’s live stream instantly lose their cool.

They all spat vulgarities and cursed his ancestors.

“Wilderness Plagiarist, don’t you have any shame? You’re a DNF gaming streamer, yet you want to compete with an outdoor streamer in gaming? Can you be any more shameless?”

“People nowadays are really shameless. They can even try to do such a thing. If I were his father, I would have aborted him back then. How embarrassing.”

!!
Meng Jinyang knew that his words would definitely cause an uproar, but he did not care.

As long as Lin Yi fell for it, it was worth it.

“No problem, let’s do it,” Lin Yi said, “The loser will leave the platform. What do you say?”

Meng Jinyang was so happy that he almost jumped up.

“Then it’s settled. Let’s meet at eight o’clock tomorrow night. Whoever doesn’t dare will instantly lose.”

“No problem.”

Meng Jinyang exited Lin Yi’s live stream.

At this moment, the comments in the live stream had already reached a dazzling level.

Seeing Lin Yi accept the challenge, the comments flooded the live stream again.

“Brother Mask, are you crazy? I’ve seen his live broadcast. This person seems to have participated in professional competitions and even won the runner-up position. His PK skills are definitely not bad. If you compete with him, you will definitely end up losing.”

“Brother Mask, I think you’re really arrogant. Do you really think you’re omnipotent?”

“I’m a loyal DNF player. I can tell you very clearly that PK-ing is a skill. Even the famous Brother Bao might not win against him. You’re not his match at all.”

“That’s right. Just now, I went to his live-stream room to take a look. This guy strengthened his weapon to +18. The rest of his equipment has reached +15. With this equipment, your health bar will dissapear after a single combo.”

“You can’t say that. When I was in university, my roommate liked to play this game too. I played it for a while, and my PK level was still okay,” Lin Yi said.

“Brother Mask, you’re too arrogant. Even if you’re good, you’re still an amateur player. He’s a professional. You’re no match for him. You’ll definitely lose tomorrow’s competition. Your live streaming career is coming to an end.”

“Why are you so pessimistic? The competition hasn’t started yet.” Lin Yi chuckled.

“See you at 8:00 tomorrow night.”

After saying goodbye to the audience in the live stream, Lin Yi exited the live-stream.

At this moment, Ji Qingyan walked over in a hurry.

“I just heard that you want to PK against someone else? Are you fighting in the game?”

“Um… that’s pretty much it.”

“Then we have to work hard. We can’t lose.”

“Of course. When have I ever done anything I’m not confident in?”

“That’s true, you’ve never disappointed me.” Ji Qingyan’s eyes were filled with the color of moonlight as she smiled.

“Yeah.”

She had no idea what PK-ing was, nor did she know how difficult it was.

However, she unconditionally believed that Lin Yi would not lose.

“Alright, it’s getting late. Rest early. Try to win tomorrow.”

“Wait a minute, did you forget something?”

“Huh? I didn’t forget anything?”

Just as Ji Qingyan was confused, Lin Yi picked her up by the waist.

Ji Qingyan subconsciously screamed and habitually wrapped her arms around Lin Yi’s neck, looking at him inquisitively.

“What are you doing?”

“When you got off work, didn’t you say that if I found you within ten minutes, you would let me have fun with you today?”

She blushed. “What time is it now? How could you still remember this?”

“I have such a good memory. Did you think I’d forget?”

“You only have such good memory for these sorts of things.” Ji Qingyan rolled her eyes at Lin Yi. “Put me down, I’m going to put on a face mask.”

“Why are you applying it now? Look at the time. I’ll take you to sleep.”

“Lin Yi, you hooligan.”

“You’re already in my hands. What’s the point of saying all this?”

Ji Qingyan looked at Lin Yi like a punching bag.

“Then we’ll do the same as before. Sleep with your arms around me and don’t do anything else.”

“Hehehe… Are you bargaining with me?”

Not long after, the sound of laughter came from Lin Yi’s room.

As for what he would do next, only the person involved knew.

…

Douyu headquarters. The office lights were still on.

A middle-aged man was sitting in the office. He was wearing a simple white casual outfit and was looking at the information in his hand in silence.

The man’s name was Chen Jiaoyang. He was Douyu’s vice president and was mainly in charge of the platform’s operations and resource promotion.

On the sofa in the office sat another man and woman.

Compared to Chen Jiaoyang, the two of them were slightly younger.

The man’s name was Guo Shibo, and he was Douyu’s operations director.

The woman’s name was Li Lin, and she was Douyu’s marketing director.

Because the company had other projects ongoing, they had been in a meeting until now.

“What’s going on? This is just a rookie streamer’s proposal, yet you’re showing it to me?” Chen Jiaoyang asked.

“Boss, it’s like this. We have a disagreement on this matter, so we want you to make a decision,” Guo Shibo said.

“He’s not a big streamer. Why are the two of you in disagreement?”

“The competition for this event is very intense. Neither of them want to give up, so we came to look for you.”

“Alright, let’s make it short. I’ll see what’s going on.”

Guo Shibo cleared his throat and said,

“On our platform, the traffic in the DNF section is gradually declining, so I wanted to nurture a high-end streamer to lead the DNF segment. However, President Li is optimistic about another outdoor streamer. She and I have different opinions. We discussed it for a long time but couldn’t settle on who to support, so I wanted to ask for Boss’s opinion.”

Chen Jiaoyang leaned back in her chair, her brows tightly furrowed as he thought for a few minutes.

“Our platform doesn’t lack outdoor streamers, right?”

“That’s what I thought. That’s why I kept pushing for my idea.”

“Boss, even though the DNF section lacks top streamers while the outdoor streamer segment is saturated, I think that the streamer called Brother Mask can bring huge traffic to the platform. That’s why I insisted on using more resources and promotions on him,” Li Lin said.

“In that case, tell me more about him first,” said Chen Jiaoyang.

“He just started streaming yesterday and broke through 100,000 popularity points. This is very rare among new streamers.”

“A newcomer’s live stream had 100,000 viewers?” Chen Jiaoyang was surprised.

“That’s right. Moreover, the contents of his live stream was very high-end. He brought his netizens to Jiuzhou Pavilion and showed them a limited edition Bugatti La Voiture Noire worth 126 million. No streamer in Douyu has such ability.”

“That’s true.”

“Moreover, in the live broadcast just now, Brother Mask received more than two million yuan in tips. It’s at least ten times more than Wilderness Plagiarists received. In terms of earning money and popularity, he has the absolute advantage. That’s why I strongly recommended him.”

“But Wilderness Plagiarist is a former professional player. He has a certain popularity and reputation. His potential is limitless.” Guo Shibo said.

“Outdoor streamers usually have a common problem. They can’t live stream for a long time. Moreover, the quality of the live stream in the later stages can’t be compared to gaming streamers, so I recommend going for Wilderness Plagiarist over him.”

Chen Jiaoyang leaned back in his chair, deep in thought.

It was no longer a matter of recommending a streamer.

Guo Shibo and Li Lin were both his proud subordinates. He had to know his limits.

“Both of you were brought up by me, so I can’t be biased toward either of you. Since tomorrow is the last day, let them decide who wins and who loses themselves.”

“Sure,” Li Lin said.

She thought highly of Lin Yi. If nothing went wrong, Lin Yi wouldn’t lose.

The quality of the live broadcast was obvious. Moreover, he had the support of hardcore fans. It would be very difficult for him to lose.

However, Guo Shibo could no longer sit still.

He clearly knew that Meng Jinyang would not survive if they competed like this.

“Boss, if we compete like this, Wilderness Plagiarist will be disadvantaged. It’s best to change the method.”

“Then there’s nothing we can do about it. This matter has to be fair,” said Chen Jiaoyang. “As Heaven watches on, we have to perform to the best of our abilities.”

“But…”

“No buts. It’s settled.”

Clang! Clang! Clang!

“Enter.”

Just as Guo Shibo was in a dilemma, there was a knock on the office door. Guo Shibo’s secretary walked in from outside.

“President Chen, Director Guo, Director Li.”

“What’s the matter?” Guo Shibo asked.

“I took a look at the situation on the Internet just now. The masked man and Wilderness Plagiarist seem to have agreed to use PK to decide who gets the title of Newcomer king. The loser will leave the platform.”
