I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week

Chapter 655 - 655 Stay by My Side

655 Stay by My Side

“Lil Yi, what’s going on?” Zhao Quanfu asked.

“Didn’t the information say that she’s infertile? Why does it say that they have a child here?”

“It was fake,” Lin Yi said.

“This family’s connections seem to be quite good since they could actually hide this news. If I didn’t get Wu Zhaoyou to investigate, I don’t think anyone else would have been able to discover this.”

!!
“This family is too much.” Zhao Quanfu cursed.

“They must have ulterior motives. We can’t hand the child over to them.”

“That’s for sure.”

Ring!

Lin Yi’s phone rang again. It was Wang Cuiping.

“Son, have you retrieved the results of the investigation? Are there any issues?”

“Don’t worry, we’ll tell you when we get back,” Lin Yi said.

“Alright, come back quickly. They’re already here and want to take the child away now.”

“Who is it? What’s his name?” Lin Yi frowned.

“His name is Zhang Wenbao. Didn’t you read their profile this morning? You should have an impression of this person, right?”

“I have a little more than that.” Lin Yi said with a faint smile.

“Mom, tell them to wait in the courtyard. We’ll head back now.”

“Alright, hold on tight. He’s waiting here.”

“Let them wait.”

After hanging up, Lin Yi looked at the two of them and said,

“Let’s go. That Zhang guy has arrived. Let’s go ask him what’s going on.”

“Let’s leave quickly. This person is too despicable. He actually fabricated fake information to lie to the orphanage. We have to get to the bottom of this.”

The three of them returned to the orphanage and met Zhang Wenbao and his wife in the director’s office.

The couple was dressed more fashionably than Lin Yi.

The man was wearing a white shirt, blue slacks, and black leather shoes.

The woman was wearing a floral dress and holding an LV bag in her hand, looking very rich.

“Son, you’re back. Where are the results of the investigation? Let me take a look,” Wang Cuiping said.

Lin Yi handed over the three reports, and Wang Cuiping picked out Zhang Wenbao’s. She looked through it a few times, but didn’t find anything wrong.

“Principal Wang, we should be qualified, right?” Zhang Wenbao said with a smile.

“Everything’s fine. There’s no problem.”

“You don’t have to worry about that. We’re also family members who lead decent lives. If we weren’t desperate, we wouldn’t have come to you.”

“I understand.” Wang Cuiping nodded and said,

“We can proceed to the next step, but you can only adopt children under the age of three. I’ve told you this before. There should be no problem, right?”

“No problem, no problem,” the couple said happily.

“Mom, wait a minute,” Lin Yi said.

“Anything else?”

Lin Yi nodded and looked at the couple.

“According to the report, there’s indeed nothing wrong with them, but I had nothing to do, so I rechecked their backgrounds. You should have a one-year and three-month-old son, right?”

“Well …”

The two of them panicked. Neither of them expected Lin Yi to find out such information.

“This, sir, what are you talking about? I don’t understand.”

“There’s no need to act at a time like this,” Lin Yi said, “Do you think it’s that interesting?”

At this moment, Wang Cuiping trusted Lin Yi.

It turned out these two people were lying!

“Mr. Zhang, I hope you can give me a reasonable explanation. This is not what’s written on your application!”

The couple looked at each other with solemn expressions.

“Alright, I’ll tell you the truth.” Zhang Wenbao said.

“We do have a son, but there’s something wrong with his eyes. He needs a cornea change, so we were going to adopt a child and change my son’s cornea.”

“We’ve visited all the orphanages in Yangcheng. Only you have children around the same age as my son. Moreover, the food and treatment here seem to be quite good. You raised the children to be fair and fat, which is why I came here.”

After falling out with each other, Zhang Wenbao and his wife immediately changed their expressions, revealing the faces of unscrupulous people.

“Since things have come to this, I won’t say anything else. 500,000 yuan for your child shouldn’t be too small a sum, right?”

“You b*stard!”

Ji Qingyan could not help but curse.

“Are you even human? How could you say such things?”

Zhang Wenbao looked at Ji Qingyan in disbelief. He felt that this beautiful woman was making a mountain out of a molehill.

“I’m telling the truth, and this is in line with your interests. Why not? 500,000 yuan is not a small sum. It’s more than enough to buy an orphan.”

“Don’t tell me you guys want to ask for an exorbitant price?” Zhang Wenbao’s wife said.

“We’re not as shameless as you!”

“Young lady, what are you saying? Who are you calling shameless!”

Paick!

Lin Yi raised his hand and slapped Zhang Wenbao’s wife.

“Watch your f*cking mouth. Don’t point at her.”

“Why did you hit her?”

Zhang Wenbao helped his wife up. “Isn’t he just an unwanted orphan? He can donate his cornea and contribute to my son’s life. He should count himself blessed.”

“Get lost, get lost now!”

Wang Cuiping was so angry that her body was trembling. She pointed at Zhang Wenbao and his wife and scolded.

“Fine, we won’t go to your place. Let’s go visit a few more orphanages. Some people can’t wait to sell their children to us.”

“I’m afraid you won’t have a chance to do this.” Lin Yi said.

“You’re already here. Do you think I’ll let you go so easily?”

“What do you mean? Are you going to detain me?”

“I can’t be bothered to talk nonsense with you. You can just tell the police later.”

Zhang Wenbao looked at Lin Yi coldly, “Do you think I’m afraid of you? If I don’t even have the connections to back me up, wouldn’t I have wasted my time working all my life?”

“You’re bragging so much.” Lin Yi chuckled.

“I know the secretary of Yangcheng, Wu Zhaoyou, and even he’s not as pretentious as you.”

“W-what did you say? You know Secretary Wu?”

In Yangcheng, although Zhang Wenbao was not a famous figure, he was still quite rich. He could name all the leaders in Yangcheng.

Naturally, he knew who Wu Zhaoyou was.

“What else? How else would I be able to find out so much about you?” Lin Yi said.

“This kind of thing usually won’t last long, so don’t worry. I’ll tell Secretary Wu to put you guys in jail for three to five years.”

Zhang Wenbao and his wife were completely dumbfounded.

They stood rooted to the ground, trembling. Every minute and second was torture for them.

Not long after, the people from the police station arrived at the orphanage and arrested the two of them.

The chief walked up to Lin Yi and said politely,

“Mr. Lin, Secretary Wu has already informed us of the situation. We will handle this matter seriously.”

“Thank you.”

“It’s no trouble. It’s what we should do.”

After Zhang Wenbao and his wife were taken away, Lin Yi’s phone rang. It was a call from Wu Zhaoyou.

There were many people in the room, so Lin Yi went to the corridor and picked up the phone.

“President Lin, I heard from my subordinates that you’ve come to Yangcheng?”

“I just arrived today. There are a few investment projects my company is interested in, so I came to take a look at them.” Lin Yi smiled. “I also came to see my parents.”

Lin Yi wasn’t surprised that Wu Zhaoyou knew his whereabouts.

The chief of police had already seen him. After he left, he would have immediately reported this news.

“That’s good. When you have time, come to my place so that I can do my best as a host.”

“Secretary Wu, you’re too kind. I’ll call you tomorrow to meet up.”

“Then it’s settled. I’ll wait for your call.”

“Okay.”

After a simple chat, Lin Yi hung up.

When he returned to the office, he saw Wang Cuiping sitting weakly on the chair.

“Son, it’s all thanks to you this time. Otherwise, something would have really happened. I never expected this to happen to our orphanage.”

In the past, social security and laws were not as strict as they were now. There had been a significant amount of negative news regarding orphanages.

However, over the years, supervision had become stricter, and such incidences were rare.

Moreover, for so many years, the children who left the orphanage had a good life. They were not abused, so Wang Cuiping and Zhao Quanfu let down their guard.

They had never expected such a thing to happen to them.

“Wasn’t this just a coincidence? Don’t get angry, it was just an accident,” Lin Yi comforted.

Wang Cuiping wiped her tears.

“I don’t care if it’s an accident or not. In the future, I won’t let any of the children from the orphanage out. Even if I have to eat chaff and vegetables, I’ll keep them by my side.”
