Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2642: Chapter 67: He Will Die (2)

This ”measure,” is difficult to grasp.

If drawn too simply, it might seem like ”showing off skills before an expert.”

It would undermine my value as a ”Shaman” and fail to gain the trust of the Danque Tribe’s Great Chief.

But if drawn too complexly, like directly depicting the Formation Patterns I’m currently researching, such as ”Ten Thousand Demons Returning to Dragon”...

This would involve the art of ”creating Dragon Maps.”

I am not sure, whether this might violate the Great Wilderness Royal Court’s prohibitions.

Would the Danque Tribe regard me as a ”rebel” and cut me down on the spot?

I need to show these Barbarian Tribes of the Danque Tribe that I am skilled in Holy Patterns and adept in Formations, but without letting them know exactly how skilled I am.

This calls for a ”gamble.”

As a newcomer, I do not know enough about the Danque Tribe, making it difficult to grasp the nuances here.

”Besides the Holy Patterns, what other methods...”

As I hesitated, I glanced at the stage out of the corner of my eye.

My gaze involuntarily fell on a guard standing about ten zhang away, to the right of the Great Chief.

This guard, clad in Barbarian Armor, was young and handsome.

But his forehead was black, extremely so.

I was slightly startled, and after a moment of thought, my gaze turned serious as I pointed at the guard and solemnly said:

”This person will die.”

The guard being pointed at showed a shocked expression.

The Great Chief on the high seat, however, had a slight tremor in his pupils.

Dan Bie paused in surprise and laughed, ”Isn’t that nonsense? Who won’t die?”

I shook my head slowly and said, ”It’s different. Unless one attains Dao and becomes Immortal, everyone will die eventually. But this person is different; he will die soon.”

Dan Bie coldly replied, ”No need for such mysterious talk; stop being evasive. State clearly, within how many days will he die.”

I looked at the dense black Qi on that guard’s forehead, mentally calculated, and then said:

”One day.”

”One day?”

”Yes,” I nodded, ”This is the revelation from the Divine Lord, this person will die within a day.”

Dan Bie felt a bit surprised.

He had expected me to give a range, at least seven days or maybe three would be reasonable.

Unexpectedly, I said just one day, wasn’t this pushing myself to the edge of a cliff?

”Alright!” Dan Bie said immediately, ”Then one day it is. If this guard dies within a day, I will honor you as a ’Shaman’ and the Danque Tribe will welcome you as an esteemed guest.”

Dan Bie grinned, ”But if he not only doesn’t die, but also lives well, then you are a fake ’Shaman’, guilty of impersonation, borrowing divine names, and desecrating the Royal Court’s death penalty. My Danque Tribe will exact severe punishment on you...”

Dan Zhu frowned, ”Third Brother, this isn’t fair.”

Dan Bie sighed, ”My brother, your third brother is just worried about you, fearing your kind heart might be deceived by this outsider claiming to be a ’Shaman’. Don’t you understand my good intentions in speaking for an outsider?”

Dan Zhu shook his head, ”Mr. Witch is my invited ’guest’. How is it reasonable for a guest to be persecuted and killed during their visit?”

Dan Bie’s gaze turned cold, ”Brother, you are still young and don’t understand the baseness of human nature. This person comes to our Danque Tribe with ulterior motives, you were merely deceived and became his pawn.”

Dan Zhu, however, continued to shake his head, defending me, ”Third Brother, the facts are not clear, these are no excuses for wanton killing.”

Dan Bie no longer wished to argue with him and instead turned to me, asking:

”Do you agree with what I just said? Are you daring enough to stake your life for your Divine Lord and your honor?”

Calmly, I nodded, saying: ”Alright.”

Dan Bie felt pleased.

Dan Zhu anxiously glanced at me, somewhat blaming me for being too reckless in agreeing to this wager so easily.

This was clearly a deliberate difficulty imposed by his third brother.

This Witch really treated his own life as if it were a joke.

But I remained calm and composed.

Meanwhile, the Great Chief of the Danque Tribe on the high platform had remained silent the entire time.

The atmosphere in the great hall was somewhat tense.

Dan Bie didn’t give me a chance to back out, saying: ”Then this bet starts now.”

He began counting in his mind, at the same time telling the young and handsome guard:

”Come here, stand by my side.”

The guard complied and moved to Dan Bie’s side.

Dan Bie then called over several Golden Core Elders, each activating their Magic Treasures to surround and protect the guard.

The Magic Treasures hovered, Spiritual Power dense and tightly screened, not even a fly could penetrate.

Dan Bie cast a cold glance at me, inwardly sneering:

”Do you want to decide life and death with empty words?”

”If it were a newborn infant or an elder half-buried in the earth, it might have been different...”

”But this guard is young and vigorous. In the main hall of the Danque Tribe, with the chieftains and Golden Core protectors, and under my watchful eye, I’d like to see how he could possibly die within a day?”

Dan Bie watched me with interest.

But I continued to appear devout, without any action.

Dan Zhu frowned, a look of gravity on his face.

The Barbarian Cultivators of the Danque Tribe within the great hall all wore varied expressions, but none spoke or made any move.

This was originally an ordinary family feast.

Those who could attend the banquet were relatives and friends of the Great Chief’s lineage.

Everyone would chat, eat, and after the meal, leave.

But now, a feast that should have ended long ago had to be prolonged because of this ”event” caused by me.

Yet no one could help but stay, with not a single person leaving.

Even the Great Chief cradled a slender concubine while eating jade-like grapes, his face expressionless, his thoughts unknown.
