Immortality Through Array Formations

Chapter 2609: Chapter 56: Fire (Part 3)

”What does ’Zatu’ mean in barbarian script?”

Little Zatu said, ”It means the flames rising.”

Mo Hua was slightly taken aback, ”Your grandfather is called Zamu, does that mean wood?”

Little Zatu nodded, ”It means solid firewood...”

He explained, ”My grandfather’s name is Zamu, so he named me ’Zatu’, which means to use him as firewood to nurture this fire of mine to blaze up and become the future hope of rejuvenation for the Wutu Tribe.”

After speaking, Little Zatu sighed, ”Unfortunately, I am useless. My grandfather has turned into wood, yet I cannot ignite this fire...”

Mo Hua’s gaze became somewhat subtle.

In fact, Little Zatu’s Spiritual Root is quite good.

Moreover, this child has a kind heart, which is rare in the savage land of the Great Wilderness.

Mo Hua asked again, ”What about your parents?”

Little Zatu said somewhat desolately, ”My mother is no longer here, and my father has been conscripted to go to war against the Taoist Court.”

Mo Hua’s expression slightly tensed.

It seems that not all of the Barbarian Soldiers from the Great Wilderness army were from the Great Wilderness Prince Tribes and their subordinate tribes.

It appears many people were conscripted from the medium and small tribes below.

These medium and small tribe Cultivators, especially those from small tribes, certainly wouldn’t receive good treatment.

Most of them are likely sent as ”cannon fodder.”

There is even a possibility that on the night the Great Wilderness Sect mutinied and the Barbarian Army ambushed the Taoist Soldiers, among the ordinary Barbarian Soldiers battling the Taoist Soldiers at the front was Little Zatu’s father.

On the battlefield, they might just be an inconspicuous soldier.

But in the tribe, they are a family’s pillar.

They are a child’s only father.

And Little Zatu’s father probably perished that night in the skirmish with the Taoist Soldiers, never to return.

Mo Hua sighed softly and asked, ”Are all the adults in your tribe taken to fight?”

Little Zatu nodded, ”Most of the uncles, those with higher cultivation and stronger abilities, have been conscripted.”

”Many supplies, food, and drink, have also been requisitioned.”

”As a result, the Wutu Tribe’s strength has weakened further.”

”We can’t defend against the Monster Beasts on the mountain, so we can only abandon our original camp to find a way to make a living here.”

”With no supplies and no adults to hunt, we have less food.”

”Furthermore, this year there are anomalies, the sky has been ablaze, hotter than usual, and some of the small millet and wild millet in the mountains have all dried up, leaving even less to eat.”

”A lot of people in the Wutu Tribe have already starved to death.”

”That’s why my grandfather had no choice but to try and pray to the Barbarian God, hoping that the Wutu Tribe could be luckier, with millet not drying up in the mountains, successful hunting, at least allowing the tribe to survive through these years, until...”

Little Zatu’s voice grew even deeper, ”Until... my father and the uncles return from the war.”

Though he knew in his heart this matter was probably impossible.

It’s possible his father and uncles might not come back.

Even if they do, these old, weak, sick, and disabled ones might starve first.

Mo Hua pondered deeply, ”Are the other tribes the same?”

”Mm.” Little Zatu said, ”It’s pretty much the same, some are even worse than our Wutu Tribe, entire tribes starved to death, and some, out of starvation, ended up eating each other.”

”Nearby, there were actually some small tribes before, but now they are gone, entire tribes gone, everyone dead...”

Mo Hua furrowed his brows and asked again, ”Under such dire circumstances, don’t people try to leave the tribe to seek a livelihood outside?”

”We can’t leave the tribe...” Little Zatu said sternly, ”Leaving the tribe, with no totem of the tribe, we become ’Barbarian Slaves’, not considered human, captured to be used as livestock, dying even more miserably...”

Mo Hua sighed deeply in his heart.

This is war, the cruel other side.

Whether at the front lines or the rear, it’s being drained by ”warfare.”

The poverty and disaster among the Barbarian Cultivators of the Great Wilderness was something he hadn’t anticipated.

It seems that no matter where he goes, the cultivators at the bottom suffer the same.

Yet, he still feels powerless about it.

Mo Hua sighed once more, looking at Little Zatu.

Little Zatu slowly ate the roasted meat given to him, cherishing it as if afraid that once finished, there wouldn’t be any more.

Watching this, Mo Hua felt a twinge of sadness and suddenly thought, how many similar scenes of sorrow has he witnessed?

How many times has he lamented his own ”powerlessness” like now?

Is he really to remain ”powerless” forever?

Moreover, is he truly powerless?

Is it true powerlessness or just an excuse for his reluctance to act?

The cultivation and powerful Divine Thought, all the spells—why had he learned them?

Suddenly Mo Hua was stunned, his mind like turbulent waves, surging endlessly.

Cultivators seek the Dao and practice it.

No matter how grand the ”Dao” is, it must start with ”small matters” and eventually be practiced.

If it has to be done eventually, why not start now with what can currently be done?

Defying Fate, changing one’s own fate, and changing the fate of all low-level cultivators everywhere...

Start right here in the Great Wilderness.

From changing one person’s destiny, to a tribe’s, to multiple tribes’, to the entire Great Wilderness, the fate of the Three Thousand Tribes.

Thus thoroughly altering the situation in the Great Wilderness.

In these tumultuous times, amidst the war-torn, savage, and impoverished Three Thousand Wilderness, establish the foundation for one’s Dao path, defy the Life Chart of all beings!

Mo Hua’s heart surged, and his bloodline instantly ignited.

Beside him, Little Zatu was still meticulously eating the roasted meat, seeing Mo Hua in emotional turmoil, the several shifts in expression revealing an immeasurable destiny as vast as heaven and earth, he didn’t quite understand but couldn’t help feeling awe and longing, asking quietly:

”Mr. Witch?”

Mo Hua slightly paused, slowly withdrew his gaze, and gathered all his grand aspirations and intentions, severing all traces of causality.

Then he turned his head, glanced at Little Zatu, couldn’t resist reaching out to touch his forehead, and said with a warm smile:

”You have a good name.”
