Chapter 39 The Enraged Centaurs: Fight or Retreat? Outside Shiva City, the story continues!Chapter 39 The Enraged Centaurs: Fight or Retreat? Outside Shiva City, the story continues!

”Who is it?!”

”How dare they?!”

The centaurs went completely mad.

This place isn’t far from Shiva City, yet so many centaur youths have died here... This is undoubtedly a blatant provocation against the centaurs!

A centaur knelt before the dead centaur boys and girls to examine them. After a moment, he gritted his teeth, his face filled with grief and indignation, and said, ”They died recently; their blood is still warm. It must have been no more than five minutes. All the children were killed by one or two blows... The ones who did it were assassins!”

”At the very least, a Tier 2 or Tier 3 assassin!”

Upon hearing this answer, all the centaurs’ eyes turned red.

”Humans, it must be humans!”

A centaur roared, ”This is human revenge! How dare they?!”

They immediately connected it to what had happened in Rabbit Town the day before yesterday.

Then, one by one, their eyes turned bloodshot as they looked toward the dark jungle.

”Kill those humans, avenge the children!”

”Kill them!!!”

The leader’s eyes turned red, and with a roar, he led the centaurs into the dark jungle.

...He didn’t know who the specific murderer was.

But they know where to find humans.

……

at the same time.

Inside the dark jungle, at the temporary command post of the Combat Division.

”Have you ever said anything like that?”

Surrounded by numerous human professionals, a thin middle-aged man stood out with a slight frown, his brows furrowing into a deep frown that exuded an air of authority.

”Yes, but we can’t be sure if they really are the two from Paradise... because it’s also possible that the Divine Descent Cult is stirring up trouble... after all, they didn’t show themselves; they intercepted those teenagers in stealth and asked them to take them away.”

The young soldier nodded.

After a moment of silence, the thin middle-aged man concluded, ”It should be them.”

He shook his head: ”Shen Changyuan told me that day that these two from Paradise are not the type to suffer losses... They are clearly only level 0, but they dared to draw their swords against a group of level 2 and 3 centaurs with the buffs of several support characters, and even successfully killed Vera, who gave both Shen Changyuan and me a headache... I am not surprised at all that they would bring such words.”

After he finished speaking, he looked at the instance.

At this moment, there was no human left at the dungeon entrance. His eyes flashed: ”On the contrary, the fact that our Rank 0 professionals left so quickly... seems a bit unusual. According to you, within just a few minutes, a large number of Rank 0 professionals had already left. This is obviously someone deliberately guiding them. Otherwise, it shouldn’t have happened so quickly.”

It’s not unimaginable that Rank 0 professionals would leave the Dark Forest out of fear and because they felt they couldn’t help, but within just a few minutes, a large number of them left.

This seems a bit abnormal.

...If this were in Rabbit Town, it would be normal, because those children have already experienced the previous incident and are traumatized, so they would naturally be more sensitive.

But this is Lingtai City.

Those children haven’t experienced life and death yet; their youthful nature and curiosity shouldn’t have led them to react so quickly.

...This is certainly not a good thing.

But that’s the way things are.

Someone is deliberately guiding things.

Upon hearing this, the young soldier’s expression froze. He had felt something was amiss then, but couldn’t quite put his finger on it. Now, however, it became clear.

”Director, are you referring to... the Divine Descent Cult?”

”It’s hard to say right now, but it’s very likely.” The director shook his head.

Just as he was about to say something more, a shadowy figure suddenly appeared in the command post. The next moment, the shadow solidified, and a figure appeared.

Everyone instinctively looked over.

It was a female assassin. Her voice was grave as she said, ”Chief, something’s happened.”

Everyone in the Combat Division was taken aback. The division chief frowned and asked, ”What’s wrong?”

”Two human assassins made their move, killing a large number of centaur level 0 professionals!”

The female professional’s heart pounded, and she said in a low voice.

Upon hearing this, everyone present fell silent and looked over in astonishment.

The director’s gaze also darkened: ”What’s going on?”

The female assassin immediately began to speak quickly.

This female assassin is also a member of the Combat Division. As an assassin, her pre-battle duty is to gather intelligence about the surrounding area.

Just now, while she was patrolling the vicinity of the Dark Forest, she happened to see Qin Fang and Qin Xiaoyou killing the centaurs when she reached the west side.

”When I arrived, it was already nearing its end. I could only see two humans, and judging from their figures, they were most likely a man and a woman... After killing the centaurs, they stealthily left.”

The female assassin’s expression was grave: ”I instinctively checked... all the centaurs were killed in one hit. Just as I was about to report the situation, a large number of centaurs arrived from the direction of Shiva City, forcing me to retreat. But during the retreat, I saw that the centaurs had gone completely berserk and were now heading towards the Dark Forest... They were clearly enraged and were coming to demand an explanation!”

Everyone present gasped in shock.

”How many centaurs died?” the director asked in a deep voice.

“I counted, there are forty-six in total.”

Forty-six centaur level 0 professionals?
Everyone present was shocked.

No wonder they were shocked.

This is simply because humans have always been the weaker party among the two races.

Generally, it’s the centaurs who initiate trouble, while humans can only passively defend themselves.

But this time, someone actually took the initiative to attack?

And they killed so many centaur level 0 professionals?
It’s easy to imagine that, given the centaur’s domineering nature, they certainly wouldn’t let this go easily!

The director was also shocked by the news and his brows furrowed.

Suddenly someone exclaimed in a low voice, ”It must be those two from the amusement park!”

Everyone instinctively looked at that person.

The man’s expression was one of shock: ”Have you forgotten? Didn’t those children say... that they were going to do something that might anger the centaurs? And they told us to evacuate first?”

After being reminded by this person, everyone finally remembered...

Indeed, one of the things those professionals said was exactly that!
In that case... we can be sure that the messenger was indeed one of those two from Paradise!
”Director, what do we do now?”

Everyone immediately looked at the director.

The centaurs were thoroughly enraged, and the two from Paradise had already confirmed their departure from the Dark Jungle, so what they were going to do now became a problem.

Should we retreat immediately and avoid their advance?
Or... should we confront the centaurs’ wrath head-on?
The director also fell into deep thought, and soon he said in a deep voice, ”Let’s not move for now, I’ll make a phone call.”

He walked to the side and made a phone call.

……

Qin Fang and Qin Xiaoyou were unaware of the situation in the Dark Forest.

At this moment, they saw a city in the distance. The city covered a very large area, and its architectural style was completely different from that of modern humans.

This is Shiva, a city inhabited by centaurs.

Ahead of them appeared a large group of centaur boys and girls.

”Brother?” Qin Xiaoyou looked at Qin Fang.

Qin Fang drew his dagger.

”Walk.”

The two stealthily made their way towards the group of centaur boys and girls who knew nothing about the situation and were still talking and chatting away...
