Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

38: Chapter 38 Preparing a Charitable FoundationReturning to the alumni association venue, Chen Mo was completely surrounded by a throng of well-dressed ’big shots,’ his hands quickly stuffed with colorful business cards.

He maintained a polite smile, his mouth full of superficial pleasantries like ’Let’s keep in touch’ and ’Let’s exchange more ideas,’ without making any concrete promises. Anyone trying to get close was skillfully deflected by him.

Half an hour later, Chen Mo finally managed to break free from the crowd. Wu Dongju immediately walked over, raising an eyebrow and teasing:

”I didn’t realize you were so adept at dealing with these people. You don’t seem like the typical tech-obsessed shut-in.”

Chen Mo rolled his eyes:

”You underestimate me too much. I just dislike this kind of superficial socializing.”

What he didn’t say was that his past experiences struggling at the bottom had already taught him how to handle these profit-driven ’big shots.’

To them, there were no permanent friends, only permanent interests. It was better to hold one’s ground than waste time on pleasantries.

Wu Dongju shot him a fierce glare.

She had just seen through the window how many young and beautiful female students were surrounding Chen Mo on campus.

But she also knew that the current Chen Mo was like a piece of ’Tang Monk’s flesh’ radiating a halo; many women were eyeing him. Even if she wanted to manage it, she couldn’t, leaving her silently frustrated.

The group then moved to the school’s grand auditorium. According to the schedule, Chen Mo was supposed to go on stage first to share his success story with the new students.

However, how could he possibly say he succeeded because of rebirth and a system? Even if he told them, no one would believe such an experience, let alone learn from it.

Coincidentally, Wu Dongju was very enthusiastic about giving a speech, so Chen Mo generously ceded the opportunity to her. He found a corner to sit down and watched Wu Dongju speak eloquently on stage, drawing waves of applause.

The evening banquet was held at a high-end hotel, specially arranged by the school.

The influential alumni attending the gathering understood the etiquette and one by one donated to the school, ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands or even millions.

When it was Chen Mo’s turn, he stated calmly:

”I will donate books worth eighty million to the school library.”

Wu Dongju followed closely behind:

”I will donate ten million, contributing to our alma mater alongside CEO Chen.”

As soon as these words were out, the entire table of big shots erupted. Flattery erupted like a flood:

”CEO Chen’s generosity is truly different! Magnificent!”

”CEO Wu is no less capable than the men, so young and accomplished!”

”Compared to CEO Chen, our donations are truly like a drop in the bucket!”

The principal’s smile was practically uncontrollable. Holding Chen Mo’s hand, he repeatedly expressed his gratitude:

”Truly our school’s most outstanding alumnus! At the next alumni association, I will personally present you two with the Distinguished Alumnus Badge and inscribe your names in the school history!”

He was calculating in his mind: these ninety million, nominally for book donations, would ultimately be controlled by him as cash, wouldn’t they?

Although the school had a large annual budget, after layers of approval, very little was freely available. This donation was solid, ’liquid cash.’

But he didn’t know that Chen Mo was serious about donating books. He immediately instructed his subordinates to arrange it upon returning, directly converting all the money into books for the school.

The day after the banquet ended, Chen Mo arrived at the company and immediately summoned Zhang Kai:

”You take the lead in preparing a charity Foundation. Name it the ’Tianxing Student Aid Foundation.’”

Zhang Kai was momentarily stunned, then quickly nodded: ”CEO Chen, what will the Foundation mainly focus on?”

”Primarily helping primary and secondary school students in remote areas who cannot afford tuition.”

Chen Mo’s tone was serious, with a hint of determination in his eyes.

”Tuition, living expenses, and school infrastructure construction must all be covered. Ensure every penny is spent where it matters most. Periodically disclose the accounts for public supervision, but do not accept public donations.”

”The funds will be transferred from my private account. Do not publicize it; just quietly do practical work. Ensure the finance department handles everything properly, and the money must genuinely reach the hands of impoverished students.”

He paused, then added:

”Additionally, notify all companies under the Tianxing system to offer more work-study positions to university students—tutoring, technical assistant roles, operational support—all at a rate 20% above the market price. University students are adults; letting them earn money through their own efforts is more meaningful than simple donations.”

Zhang Kai was deeply moved and quickly responded:

”I will handle this immediately and guarantee full implementation!”

Chen Mo watched his retreating figure.

In his previous life, he only managed to finish university through work-study and scholarships. He deeply understood the hardship of lacking money for schooling. Now that he had the ability, he naturally wanted to help those children who were like his former self. This was not for show; it was a sincere aspiration.

In the following days, Chen Mo’s life was rarely disturbed. He spent his days taking walks and chatting with Nalan Ruoshui, Yang Mi, and the others, living a comfortable and contented life.

Until the beginning of the month, the system prompt sounded right on time: ”Ding, this month’s lottery chances have been refreshed. Does the host wish to begin the draw?”

”Begin!”

”Ding, congratulations to the host for drawing the Grandmaster-level Language Skill!”

Looking at the newly added skill on the skill panel, Chen Mo’s lips curved into a smile.

This skill seemed unremarkable, but it was incredibly practical.

Any language, whether foreign, ancient text, or even obscure dialects—as long as he heard it once or saw it once, he could instantly grasp its meaning and communicate fluently. It was essentially a built-in ’universal translator.’

Not long after, Modu became bustling.

The first Tianxing Live Carnival event kicked off, gathering hundreds of streamers. All expenses were borne by the platform, making the occasion grand and spectacular.

What made it even more anticipated was that in three days would be the ’League of Heroes’ S2 Season Global Finals. Tickets had sold out a month in advance, and gaming enthusiasts flooded Modu from all over the country, pushing the carnival’s heat to a new level.

This global final was much larger in scale than in his previous life, with the number of teams increasing from 12 to 18. The Dragon Country alone had 6 teams participating (4 from the mainland + 2 from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau).

Chen Mo looked at the list of participating teams, secretly anticipating:

The strength of the Dragon Country teams this year was very high. Perhaps they could win the championship. If they missed this opportunity, it would be difficult next year once the foreign ’Great Demon King’ teams emerged.

At the carnival site, Ling Jing’s livestream room was exceptionally lively.

As the representative streamer of Tianxing Live known for ’beautiful appearance but poor skill,’ she had achieved minor fame and a stable monthly income of over 50,000 yuan, which she was already content with.

But today, the attention of her viewers was entirely captured by the bag she was wearing:

”Sister Jing Jing, your bag is too gorgeous! What brand is it?”

”I looked it up. This is a limited edition from a luxury brand, costing 1 million RMB!”

”Really? A bag worth 1 million? Sister Jing Jing, you’ve struck it rich?”

”It couldn’t be a fake bag, right? Streamer, don’t embarrass yourself by carrying a fake!”

”Don’t you all remember? Sister Jing Jing’s roommate lives in a villa worth hundreds of millions. A 1 million bag is nothing to her, right?”

Ling Jing’s expression instantly became awkward, and she secretly cursed internally.

This bag wasn’t hers at all. She had casually grabbed it from Nalan Ruoshui’s walk-in closet when leaving that morning, never expecting it to be so expensive.

Her monthly income of 50,000 yuan was insignificant compared to this 1 million yuan bag. Thinking of the rows of unopened luxury goods in Nalan Ruoshui’s closet made her feel a complex mix of emotions.

Just then, a harsh engine roar was heard. A jet-black bugatti veyron stopped directly at the entrance of the venue, its striking design instantly attracting everyone’s gaze.

The viewers in Ling Jing’s livestream room immediately exploded:

”Holy crap, who is so bold to park randomly on Tianxing Live’s turf?”

”Isn’t that a bugatti veyron? Priced at 35 million, one of the fastest sports cars in the world!”

”Aren’t they afraid of being kicked out by people from Tianxing Technology?”

But when the car door opened and a familiar, handsome figure stepped out, all the chatter abruptly stopped:

The person who arrived was none other than Chen Mo.

”Oh, it’s CEO Chen. Never mind then!”

”It’s his territory, he can park wherever he wants. Nothing wrong with that!”

”A 35 million sports car is much more imposing than a 1 million bag!”

Viewers flooded the screen with comments. No one knew that the 1 million bag was also a gift from Chen Mo to Nalan Ruoshui, which Ling Jing had merely ’borrowed’ for use.

As for Chen Mo parking there, it was purely out of necessity.

The outside parking lot was already full. He just happened to be passing by and wanted to come in to check on the carnival situation.

Three days flew by. The carnival concluded successfully, and the opening ceremony for the ’League of Heroes’ Global Finals was held as scheduled.

To enhance international influence, Wu Dongju specially invited several Korean celebrities to make guest appearances.

The Korean Wave was very popular in those years, and their appearance fees were considerably cheaper than European and American stars, offering high cost-effectiveness.

But just as the Korean celebrities were about to take the stage, Wu Dongju suddenly received an urgent report from her subordinate, and her face instantly darkened.

”What’s wrong?”

Chen Mo noticed something amiss and asked.

”Those Korean celebrities suddenly demanded a price increase, saying they won’t perform unless their appearance fee is doubled!”

Wu Dongju said through gritted teeth.

”Before they came, they didn’t know how popular they were in the Dragon Country. Seeing so many fans waiting at the airport and then checking their popularity online, they felt their original fee was too low and tried to extort more money!”

”They already signed a contract, yet they dare to be so arrogant?”

Chen Mo’s eyes turned cold.

Wu Dongju frowned:

”I was planning to agree to them first. After all, the news is already out. If they don’t perform, it will be hard to explain to the fans, and their original quoted price wasn’t high either...”

”No need to indulge them.”

Chen Mo interrupted her and stood up, walking towards the backstage.

”I’ll handle this matter.”

Wu Dongju’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly followed, silently praying for those Korean celebrities.

She understood Chen Mo’s personality too well: he preferred breaking jade rather than letting it be used as tile fragments, and he hated being threatened. These Korean celebrities daring to demand a last-minute price hike had clearly run straight into a wall.

In the backstage corridor, the Dragon Country celebrities who encountered Chen Mo all greeted him respectfully:

”Hello, CEO Chen!”

Chen Mo only nodded casually, not even pausing to look at them, and walked straight to the Korean celebrities’ dressing room.

Lin JJ watched his retreating figure and whispered to Chen YX beside him:

”What’s wrong with CEO Chen? His expression looks so grim?”

”It seems he’s heading for those Korean celebrities.”

Chen YX lowered his voice.

”I heard they occupied the largest dressing room and wouldn’t let anyone else near, acting very arrogant.”

Zhou Jie curled his lip:

”Celebrities from a small country dare to act tough on Tianxing Technology’s turf? They are asking for trouble!”

Bai Fengjiu stood to the side and added quietly:

”It seems they demanded a last-minute price increase, which made CEO Chen unhappy.”

Everyone instantly understood, their faces showing disdain.

Given their status, they didn’t take these Korean celebrities seriously at all. If it weren’t for Tianxing Technology’s reputation, they would have long since ignored them.
