Chapter 96 - 93: Accident! My Beloved’s Death, I Choose to Destroy the World_3
”Xia Qingxue, have you gone mad? Don’t you know the Nirvana Project is our Mechanical Race’s last resort? It must not be used unless absolutely necessary. What on earth happened over there to make you activate the Nirvana Project?”Facing her sister Yang Fengyi’s accusation, Xia Qingxue’s voice was cold and flat. She simply replied, ”My man is dead.”

Her terse reply was steeped in endless sorrow and determination.

Yang Fengyi, listening from within Celestial Palace No. 1, was stunned. For a moment, she wondered if she had misheard. She couldn’t grasp the meaning behind Xia Qingxue’s words. What do you mean, ’my man is dead’? It’s not like you even have a man... well, except for that living Heaven’s Chosen.

The thought left Yang Fengyi feeling helpless. She confirmed with Xia Qingxue again, ”Who died?”

”My man.”

Alright, no need to ask anymore. Based on the intelligence she possessed, there was only one person her third sister would ever call ”my man.” As for why he died, Yang Fengyi, to be honest, didn’t care.

But now, she had no choice but to care. Xia Qingxue had maniacally activated the Nirvana Project.

It was a known fact that once the Nirvana Project was initiated, it was fundamentally unstoppable unless the initiator personally aborted it.

The reason it was called the Nirvana Project was because upon activation, the space bases orbiting the planet would launch thousands of cluster nuclear weapons at Earth Star.

The explosive yield of these cluster nuclear bombs was immense, with each one capable of annihilating all life within a radius of tens of thousands of kilometers, including mechanical life. Furthermore, its power didn’t end there. The impact of the cluster nukes would create explosions akin to an asteroid strike, generating a miniature sun that would incinerate everything within range and blanket the periphery in lethal radiation.

When the number of cluster nukes was sufficient to cover the combined territory of every power on the planet’s surface, the terrifying result would be total planetary annihilation.

They might belong to the mechanical life faction of Celestial Palace No. 1, but if all life on the planet were wiped out, what would become of them, beings with human consciousness?

This weapon, meant solely for deterrence, had been activated by Xia Qingxue. How could she not be furious?

Who could have killed Chen Pingchuan? It must have been one of my own subordinates. On second thought, it was probably my loyal hound, Blue Demon. But would he really dare to act without my orders?

Yang Fengyi was uncertain. Her voice grew heavy as she asked probingly, ”Who did it?”

Xia Qingxue fell silent for a moment. Her sister’s words made her heart ache even more.

”I did.”

Yang Fengyi’s mind went blank. The speech she had prepared was instantly useless.

What? Your man is dead. What? You killed your man. What? You want to destroy the world. So... you killed your man, and therefore you’ve decided to destroy the world?

Yang Fengyi was suddenly overcome by the surreal feeling that she was dreaming and hadn’t woken up yet. But she hadn’t slept in years, not since her body was transformed into a semi-mechanized one. That’s impossible.

Regardless of the reason, the Young Palace Master of Celestial Palace No. 1 should not be the one to destroy the world.

Yang Fengyi forced herself to remain calm. She tried to persuade her sister in the gentlest tone she could manage:

”Alright, Third Sister, let’s stop this. I know about the flaw in our Celestial Palace’s inheritance. After receiving it, the semi-mechanized body begins to corrode the very core of our being. That’s why the more genuine an emotion is, the more power it can unleash.

”This obsession with emotion is both a source of power and a shackle. You’ve become like this because of its influence, and I share some of the responsibility. If I hadn’t listened to our second brother back then and just killed your Heaven’s Chosen directly, none of this would be happening now. It’s an ancient teaching of our Celestial Palace’s legacy, but alas, neither you nor Second Brother has ever made things easy for me. You both think I’m cold and unfeeling, but you don’t realize I was only doing it for your own good.

”Now that it’s happened, just let it go, please? He was just a Heaven’s Chosen. Even if he’s dead, there must be a body, right? And if there’s no body, surely a single strand of hair remains? You know as well as I do what our technology in Celestial Palace No. 1 is capable of. As long as a single trace of him remains, we can create a perfect clone.

”Then you can be as intimate with your Heaven’s Chosen as you like. I won’t stop you ever again. You can do whatever you want. We’ll even pretend you’re not a member of the Celestial Palace, and you won’t have to abide by our ancestral teachings anymore. Just listen to me now, and stop the Nirvana Project.”

Yang Fengyi glanced at the countdown timer: 01:54.

Her heart grew heavier, but she didn’t dare curse Xia Qingxue, fearing she might provoke this living deity. How could I have been so fooled by her appearance back then? Was I so blind that I actually gave her partial authority over the Celestial Palace’s ultimate weapon?

Unfortunately, Yang Fengyi’s pleading had no effect. Xia Qingxue’s expression remained unchanged as she gave her token reply.

”I’m sorry, sister. It’s time for you to pay for your mistakes.”
