Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 81 - 80 Contact! Vivian of the Natural Church
Five maxims involuntarily appeared in Chen Pingchuan’s mind.

First step: Build rapport, create a friendly atmosphere, and establish trust.

Second step: Reinforce key information and create memorable points to strengthen their memory.

Third step: Induce anxiety by pointing out problems and crises to amplify their emotions.

Fourth step: Present your own propositions, offering hope and promises.

Fifth step: Isolate and consolidate. Eliminate external interference and fortify the results.

Here, they first provide the wanderers with food and clothing, give them a clean and tidy environment, and never make any demands, establishing the most basic trust. Then, they constantly repeat that God brought everyone together, that it was God’s guidance that has allowed everyone to live so peacefully. They mention God over and over. Next, that woman kept talking about how terrible the outside world is—the terrifying Black Demons, the lack of food, companions turning on each other, the crude living conditions—all to infinitely magnify people’s survival anxiety. Finally, they present God’s propositions and doctrines.

Chen Pingchuan frowned deeply. Clearly, this is no ordinary shelter, but a city controlled by a group of religious fanatics. What’s even more worrying is that the other four seem to fit the bill perfectly. I’m afraid it won’t be long before they’re isolated.

Sure enough, as the woman’s lengthy speech concluded, she cleared her throat and flashed a sweet smile.

”Everyone must be tired today. We have prepared soft beds, comfortable accommodations, and private personal spaces for all of you. Now, please follow the number tags you were given when you entered and return to your exclusive rooms.”

As soon as the woman finished speaking, Chen Pingchuan’s expression went completely flat.

Bingo. A perfect match. If these aren’t religious fanatics, I’ll eat my...

Looking at the number tag on his wrist, which was attached to the new clothes he’d received after his bath, Chen Pingchuan gave up any thought of resisting. Adopting a mindset of taking things one step at a time, he followed the crowd to find his room.

The room’s four walls were pure white, the bed was pure white, and the cabinet was pure white. Everything was pure white.

Chen Pingchuan lay on the bed, staring blankly as he thought.

In this windowless, glassless, completely sealed white room, I really feel like falling asleep.

Just as his eyelids grew heavy and he was about to drift into slumber, the door to the room suddenly opened, revealing a sweet young woman of about twenty.

She was dressed in a long, simple white robe with a golden hexagram printed on the right shoulder. The white light shone on her pretty little face, making her appear incredibly devout. Though her figure was petite, her dark eyes held an unwavering determination that instantly made Chen Pingchuan dismiss any thought of trying to persuade her.

”Hello, I’m Vivian from the Natural Church, and I am also your exclusive attendant.”

”You can come to me with any requests or questions. This is your personal communicator; I’ve already saved my contact information in it.”

”As for food, someone will bring it to you shortly.”

”I’ll be going now. Call me anytime if you need anything.”

Seeing that Chen Pingchuan had no intention of talking, Vivian tactfully excused herself.

「Two days later.」

In the same pure white room, Chen Pingchuan was sprawled awkwardly on the bed with a young woman sitting on his back. Don’t get the wrong idea; it was just a simple massage.

”Vivian, not bad. How long have you been learning to do this?”

”I only started yesterday.”

”Hmm, not bad at all. You’ve got talent. I’m rooting for you.”

Vivian looked at the shameless boy on the bed, her chest rising and falling with irritation. I don’t get it. Why are the wanderers assigned to everyone else normal, but I get stuck with a weirdo? The other wanderers are concerned with food, clothing, and their future living situation. That allows us to follow a set procedure to complete our assigned tasks. But the person I’m supposed to be looking after is clearly different. He doesn’t care about his living conditions, his food, or his future. He doesn’t say whether he wants to stay or if he’s satisfied with this place. The whole vibe he gives off is just... strange. Not only that, but last night he actually asked me to learn how to give a massage.

Even now, Vivian could still remember his words and his entitled expression.

”Since we’re all God’s children, as a compatriot, what’s wrong with learning to give a massage so I can relax a bit?”

It’s my own fault for running my mouth, telling him I’d grant his request if he could memorize the doctrines of the Natural Church. And so, here they were.

”Can you tell me how you did it?”

”How I did what?” Chen Pingchuan feigned surprise and shifted slightly, causing a subtle friction where their bodies met.

”Don’t move,” Vivian said, lightly tapping him with her small fist. Her cheeks flushed slightly as she furrowed her brow and pressed on, ”If you don’t tell me, then I’ll... I’ll... I’ll stop giving you massages.”

Chen Pingchuan was naturally not afraid of such a threat. However, he was well aware of his true purpose: to attract the attention of the higher-ups.

After hours of thinking, I figured that my simulated personality would likely be unable to endure this lifestyle. He’d probably seize a chance when the guards weren’t looking and fight his way out. But it’s not my simulated self in charge now; it’s my real self. That means I can handle this in my own way.

Chen Pingchuan still remembered the information from the simulation.

I’m supposed to be an exceptionally gifted scientist. And I distinctly remember that I can summon colorful seeds to heal others’ injuries. With that ability alone, I can’t believe they wouldn’t value me. If you can’t beat them, join them. What’s the big deal? Once I climb the ranks and get to the top... Sorry, but I’m the real villain here.

As Chen Pingchuan lost himself in this pleasant daydream, a smile unconsciously spread across his face. He replied smoothly, ”I’m not kidding you. It was so easy, anyone could do it.”

”I’ll let you in on a secret. Your big brother here has had a photographic memory since he was a kid. Countless reclusive masters wanted to take me as their disciple, but I turned them all down. Otherwise, you wouldn’t even have the chance to see me now.”

”TEE-HEE-HEE...” she giggled. ”I’ve read that novel before.”

”Is it ’Crossing Into Another World to Become the Demon God and Enslave Thousands of Maidens’?”

”Huh? You’ve read it too?”

”Of course. That banned book is full of such perverse fantasies. I have no idea what kind of scoundrel wrote it. He’s so inhumane! As if one girl isn’t enough for him to torment. When I get stronger, I’m definitely going to have him castrated. We’ll see if he dares to write such trash then.”

As Vivian spoke, she made a slicing gesture that sent a chill through Chen Pingchuan’s lower body, instantly extinguishing any interest he had in letting her continue. He gently patted her calf, signaling for her to get off him.

Then, Chen Pingchuan sat up with a kip-up, his gaze fixed intently on the girl. ”Alright, what’s your mission?” he said softly. ”Seeing as you’ve been pretty diligent, I’m feeling generous enough to help you complete it.”
