Apocalyptic Wasteland Simulator

Chapter 58: Experiment! An Astonishing Coincidence in Timing
[Ji Hongxiu remembers you said you needed a good-looking pet mount, not an ugly creature like Black Demon One. As soon as her power stabilized, she thought of you. Now, you can have your wish: to ride on her and enjoy yourself to the fullest.]

[Second, she has volunteered to take over as the head of Kailing Province. She will assume full control over the deployment and mission assignments for all Beast Tamers within the Kailing Territory. In the future, as long as she is here, you can go wherever you please and do whatever you want. No one can stop you.]

[Third, she recalled you were feeling down due to the lack of experimental subjects. This time, she has brought several Fusion-level Beast Tamers from a tribe that opposes her own. You now have new material for your experiments.]

What a good dog—pfft, a good fox. I’ve seen my share of suck-ups, but never one this good at it. This bootlicking is so thorough, so satisfying. Elder Ye Hu, have you lost your mind?

Chen Pingchuan wasn’t sure what to think anymore. He originally felt that the divine self in the simulation was an extension of his own body, so its actions were his actions. But as its personality grew increasingly different from his, trying to identify with it now just felt like he was being cuckolded. Though, to be precise, he felt it was more like he was the one cuckolding his other self.

He hurriedly shook his head, wondering why such bizarre and titillating images kept flashing through his mind.

Damn it! He’s your enemy! You must be biding your time, right? When the time is right, you’ll become an avenger and take him down in a single blow to get your revenge. Yes, that must be it.

Chen Pingchuan began to brainwash himself, putting the full complexity of the human mind on display.

[You are very satisfied with Ji Hongxiu’s attitude. As a reward, you engage in another battle with her that lasts for dozens of hours. This time, however, your body has not fully recovered, and you are the first to fall. Perhaps sensing your weakness, Ji Hongxiu pleads for mercy first, allowing you to save face.]

[You see through Ji Hongxiu’s clumsy performance and feel you have lost all divine dignity. You decide not to grace her with your favor again until your Divine Power is fully developed.]

「The next three days.」

Your experimental progress accelerated once more. You successfully parasitized a Level Seven Fusion-stage Beast Tamer, feeling that your plan was back on track.

「The following month.」

Your schedule was particularly packed.

First, you continued to hatch fresh purple parasite seeds. As a consequence, you sacrificed all your leisure time. From Ji Hongxiu’s resentful gaze, it was clear she was quite dissatisfied with this.

「One month later.」

All the Level Seven Beast Tamers accompanying Ji Hongxiu were fully parasitized by you. Although this consumed your entire stock of purple parasite seeds, you were still quite pleased.

Next, you ordered Ji Hongxiu to capture a sufficient number of vagrants from the various outer districts of Kailing Province. Thousands of them were locked up on Spirit Beast Island, where you injected them with a mutation potion purified from Black Demon’s Blood.

[Your actions are no different from those of an Evil God, conducting inhumane biochemical experiments on ordinary people. The humans infected with the Black Demon’s Blood transform into hideous second-generation Black Demons.]

[You test the strength of the second-generation Black Demons, but the results are disappointing. Their power is only equivalent to that of a Level Two Genetic Warrior, not even reaching the level of a Level Two Beast Tamer. You are disappointed with your results.]

[Ji Hongxiu senses your disappointment and consoles you, saying that if you lack subjects, she can continue to capture more, regardless of the number.]

An adulterous pair, partners in crime, a den of vipers, one piece of trash finding another...

Chen Pingchuan laughed from pure rage, furiously berating the two figures in the simulation. He had originally thought Ji Hongxiu was a victim, but seeing this, he realized he was wrong. Terribly wrong.

It wasn’t for nothing that these two had ended up together. While his three years in this world had already made him aware of the vast class disparity, this went far beyond his expectations. This behavior of treating people not as humans, but as lab rats, truly disgusted him.

And you call yourselves human?

Chen Pingchuan swore to himself that no matter how difficult or miserable his life became, he would never stoop to such acts that would incur the wrath of both gods and men.

But on second thought... is the divine self’s secret plan really this simple?

[Ji Hongxiu’s words give you an idea. You ask her how much power she truly wields. Frowning, she thinks it over carefully. After a moment, she tells you that as long as you don’t flatten the entire Kailing Province, there probably won’t be any problems.]

[You had guessed her authority was extensive, but this is even more shocking than you anticipated. You tell Ji Hongxiu your plan. She reflects for a moment before nodding in agreement, but adds that she needs time.]

[You ask what she needs time for. She explains that she needs to pass a message to the other factions. This will allow people of status and power to prepare to flee in advance. It’s an unspoken rule they’ve all followed for years.]

「Three days later.」

Ji Hongxiu informed you that your plan could proceed, though you would still need to wait a week. You were very satisfied with the results she brought. Although you had to wait a week, you had that much patience.

「A week later.」

Your plan began.

At first, everyone thought it was just an ordinary downpour. But after the blood rain fell, slaughter began to spread across Kailing Province.

The order in the outer districts of all cities completely collapsed. Survival of the fittest became the only law. When desire is unshackled, there is no path forward. There is only left or right. To the left is Hell, and to the right is also Hell.

[Yes, this was your plan. You believed that since the red rain would eventually fall, it was better for you to initiate it. You would use the coming of the red rain to train your Black Demon Army’s combat strength. So, you laid out your entire plan and had Ji Hongxiu prepare.]

[Ji Hongxiu did not disappoint. She first informed the various powers that the Blood Beast Ban intended to conduct a large-scale experiment. In exchange for their silence, she offered to hand over some resource points that the Blood Beast Ban currently controlled within Kailing Province.]

[Of course, this alone wasn’t enough to placate the other factions. She also guaranteed that the experiment would be confined to the outer districts, an area despised by all inner-city dwellers. And so, everything proceeded smoothly, with no one bothering to ask the opinion of the people who lived there.]

[Ji Hongxiu was not without risk in doing this. She was acting in secret, hiding her actions from the Blood Beast Ban Headquarters.]

「A few days later.」

The weather turned bizarre. The midsummer heat of May was followed by several days of heavy snow. You noticed something was wrong and made a quick calculation.

[The day the red rain began to fall was a perfect match for the date you remembered.]
