31 Scared to Death
”You’re from the cookhouse?” Chen Fan’s eyes almost popped out!

”Don’t look at me like that, you’re making me feel uneasy!” Wang Bing stepped back and pretended to look very scared.

Chen Fan curled his lip. ”It’ll be more convincing if you say that you’re a Super Saiyan rather than from the cookhouse!”

”Alright, the cookhouse is just a cover. We can’t reveal our real serial number. Anyway, it’s similar to the special forces!”

”Let’s talk about the contract!” Wang Bing did not wish to elaborate on the unit. ”It can’t be any less than 20,000 RMB. None of my retired comrades get less than 30,000 RMB when they take on jobs as bodyguards for their bosses. I don’t mean to be rude but I could easily take over the position of head coach in the Zhongyun City Armed Police Force!”

”So incredible!”

Wang Bing grabbed a cup from the table and took a sip. ”Yes, that is incredible! One of my ex-comrades asked me over to Hainan to be a bodyguard and he offered me 30,000 RMB a month, but I prefer to stay around my hometown. After all, I’ve lived here for so many years and I like it here!”

”Alright, 20,000 RMB it shall be!” Chen Fan pounded the table. ”With your skills, I’ll even agree to 30,000!”

”Then… how about 30,000?” Wang Bing asked with some doubt.

”Bro, what’s the most important thing to a man? It’s credibility… a man should stay true to his words, 20,000 means 20,000!” Chen Fan could not really stand this fellow. He was such a sleazeball!

”It’s alright, but...you have to pay me a few thousand RMB in advance. The army was so stingy and did not give me a single cent when they made me retire early!” Wang Bing scratched his head feeling embarrassed. ”A comrade gave me 2,000 RMB when I came back. I didn’t even dare take the plane so I settled for the train for three whole days! When I reached Zhongyun yesterday, I was still left with over 600 RMB. After that, I went to ”Victoria” for a bath and spent away 500 plus, so now I’m only left with 30 RMB! I had no choice but to make a trip to the recruitment market in the morning, hoping to get a bodyguard job through an agent when I ran into you on the way there!”

”500 RMB for a bath?” Chen Fan’s face was full of doubts. ”Don’t tell me you conveniently went for an ’Athens-style bath’?”

”Heh, heh… athens-style costs 580 RMB! I had three consecutive 188 RMB ’Swedish-style baths’!” Wang Bing smacked his lips. ”I’ve been pent up in the army and it’s been a long time since I last visited ’Victoria’. I couldn’t control myself and went there the moment I saw it!”

”You… you…” Chen Fan couldn’t think of any word to describe this fellow. ”Did you bring your ID? We’ll sign the contract now if you have it with you!”

”I have it with me. You have to advance me 5,000 RMB after we sign. I’ve been wanting to try the 888 RMB ’European-style bath’!”

”You lecherous fella!” Chen Fan winked helplessly. ”Don’t tell me you did some bad stuff in the army and got yourself discharged?”

”Gimme a break. We’d end up in the military court if we did those things in the army. We may even be shot dead!”

Chen Fan’s expression showed that he did not believe him. After spending a few hours to and fro, Wang Bin had Chen Fan bring him to a restaurant for a meal before the episode ended.

After going back to the office, Chen Fan saw that Lele, Yun, and Yu Lin were not in. Don’t tell me they’re too scared to come to work? Who cares. There’s nothing for them to do here anyway. I’ll just deduct their pay!

”Your company is only this big?” Wang Bing puckered his lips the moment he stepped in.

”We’ve just started, so why do we need a big space?” Chen Fan went to the water dispenser and drank a cupful before giving a new one to Wang Bing. ”Our company’s main business is in salvaging, fishing and transportation. We just need a few people to run the business so we’d just be wasting space if the office was bigger.”

”Then where are the people in charge of salvaging? Don’t tell me this is a fake company!” Wang Bing took the cup and finished his drink in one gulp.

”After I receive the order, I hand it to the fishermen or divers who have a long-term partnership with our company. We only earn the agent fees!”

”Your company’s business is indeed not mainstream!” Wang Bing sat casually on the couch. ”As long as you don’t ask me to do things like drug trafficking, I can handle the rest! My brain is dead after those years in the army. My goal now is to earn money and enjoy life! Oh, where do I stay at night?” Wang Bing asked as he looked around the office.

”Of course you have to stay by my side 24/7. Do you know Tianhai Shipping Company? My enemy is one of the managers inside!”

”Of course I know. I even had a few meals with Wei Qing before I went into the army. He wanted me to join in their partnership, but my family was against it.”

”Then… do you know him well?” Chen Fan sat on the chair and felt a little nervous. He would be real unlucky if the person he employed turned around and bit him.

”Not really, we’re acquaintances at the most!” Wang Bing laid on the couch and closed his eyes. ”Don’t worry, he’s just someone with whom I had contact with when I was out in the streets. If he dares to touch you, I’ll make sure he crawls back.”

”I can tell that you were a little ruffian!”

”Haha… I didn’t have much common sense during my school days. I was either fighting or fooling around with female classmates!” Wang Bing’s eyes looked a little blurry, as if he was recollecting something! ”Oh, have you heard of someone nicknamed ’Little Tyrant’ from Third Middle School?”

”I’ve heard of him when I was in elementary school, they said he could take on more than ten people alone!” Chen Fan raised his head and gave it a thought. ”I guess that must be you!”

”Yes, I was given this nickname by the people in the underworld… it’s all because of the Little Tyrant game that we used to play that I got this lousy nickname!”

”Then change it to Super Saiyan…” The two sat there and chatted nonsensically for a while, when the office door was suddenly pushed open.

Wang Bing suddenly jumped up from the couch like a cannonball and stared closely at the door.

”Ah! I was scared to death…” Zhang Lele was frightened and clutched her chest with her left hand.

”Boss, who’s this?” Yiteng Yun and Yu Lin came in and looked at Wang Bing in astonishment.

”He’s my new bodyguard Wang Bing and he’s highly-skilled!” Chen Fan stood up from the chair. ”Let me introduce you. This is Zhang Lele, Yiteng Yun, Yu Lin!”

”Hello everyone!” Wang Bing quickly went forward and shook their hands! Wang Bing shook Yiteng Yun’s and Yu Lin’s hands for less than five seconds in total, but when it was Zhang Lele’s turn, he held her hand and did not let go!

”Ahem, ahem!” Yiteng Yun coughed deliberately and said, ”Boss, we’ve got a big deal!”
