interstellar chief prosecutor

Chapter 67

Acquitted!

After the results came out, the verdict of the Bai Qing case spread across the stars at the speed of light.

From desperation and hopelessness to a Jedi counterattack, even the public prosecutor has nothing to say.The three characters Xiao Yisi have once again become a hot term. And the statement that he laughed at the military department as Wang Po selling melons spread like a gust of wind.

However, the biggest impact of the matter is not only here. The presiding judge in the Bai Qing case issued a verdict of not guilty, the first case to follow Yu Masami’s theory that the defendant should not incriminate himself.

In the Republic, precedent has a considerable influence on the judgment of subsequent cases. It can be seen that the subsequent second-instance case of Major General Wei and the trial of other Third Fleet officers will be more or less affected by this theory. So when the time comes, the military, which is unable to produce strong evidence and cannot prove the fairness of its own records, can still impose crimes on these soldiers?

Smart people know that a good show is about to begin.

At this time, You Yisi, who had finished the trial of the case, was taking his three knights to meet the released Bai Qing.

”Brother Bai!”

Seeing Bai Qing being escorted out by the judicial police, You Yisi happily went up to him.

”Are you okay? No one treats you harshly inside, you seem to have lost weight.” You Yisi looked around Bai Qing for a while, and what he said made the judicial police around him break out in cold sweat. After seeing You Yisi’s ability in court, who would dare to offend this guy now.

”No one treats Lieutenant Colonel Bai Qing harshly!” The bailiff raised his hands high, ”We deal with the suspects who are in prison for trial according to the formal procedures.”

Bai Qing smiled and said: ”I’m fine, but I think too much, so I look thinner. Xiao Yi—” He paused, looking deeply at You Yisi, ”I want to thank you.”

Then, Bai Qing took a big step back and bowed deeply to You Yisi. From his deep bend, he seemed to be able to see the spine of this unyielding man who had been weighed down by reality and difficulties.

You Yisi quickly supported him, ”Brother Bai!”

”I, Bai Qing, on behalf of the other brothers and sisters of the Third Fleet, solemnly express my gratitude to you. Xiao Yi, it is you who gave us a chance to be born again, so that we no longer have to bear humiliation and infamy.” Bai Qing said, The corners of the eyes were moist, ”It’s because of your hard work that I see hope. Xiao Yi, with people like you, let me know that it is worthwhile for us to fight for Beichen!”

When they were abandoned by everyone, when they were given an indelible reputation by the world, there were still people standing firmly behind them, believing that they were not the executioners who killed people. For the soldiers of the Beichen Third Fleet who have been burdened with too much grievance and grievance, this is their pillar.

”...Brother Bai, I haven’t done enough.” You Yisi stepped forward to help him up, ”I haven’t done enough.”

He didn’t tell Bai Qing about it. If it didn’t involve his familiar friends, he might not want to get involved. The officers of the Beichen Third Fleet are indeed very pitiful, but for You Yisi, who is not yet full-fledged, he has no time to care about other things.

There was Yisi before, living in her own small world. He knew his special life experience, but he never seriously thought about what that meant; he knew that he was a descendant of ”Wanxing”, but he didn’t seriously think about the meaning of the term ”Wanxing”.

You Yisi’s greatest wish is to make himself stronger so that he can no longer be manipulated by others. However, in his world at that time, there were only himself and a few people he cared about. And this incident of Bai Qing made You Yisi realize that if he chooses to stand by and watch, it will end not only the lives of one or two people, but also the fate of thousands of innocent people.

Yasumi recalled the words of Principal Wiscons again.

[Because you are ”Ten Thousand Stars”, you bear the expectations and desires of more people. 】With great power comes great responsibility.Although You Yisi doesn’t think he has the ability to change his destiny, he is destined to bear this responsibility.

”Can I do it?”

He looked into Bai Qing’s eyes and asked himself, can he support Beichen, a crumbling star, by himself?

With more strength on his shoulders, You Yisi raised his head and saw You Yanzhi looking over.

”If you want to do it, do it.”

And I will always stand behind you.

You Yisi looked at Christie and Qi Xiu, and they both looked back without hesitation.

Qi Xiu said: ”I chose to be your guardian knight, and I have never regretted it.”

Christie: ”Although it was my uncle’s opinion at the beginning, I think becoming your guardian knight is the most correct choice I have ever made.”

”Xiao Yi.” Bai Qing said, ”I owe you my life. From now on, no matter what you ask me to do, I will go through fire and water.”

Looking at the eyes of these people who trusted him, You Yisi felt a little more weight on his body.

”Don’t worry.” You Yanzhi whispered, ”No matter what, you won’t be alone.”

You Yisi was stunned, and touched the star cross embroidered on his neckline, which symbolized the brilliance of stars, making this coat of arms even more dazzling.

Yeah, he was never alone. And this also means that from the moment he was reborn in this era, he could not live alone, but had to live with the fate of more people.

Isn’t the so-called ”ten thousand stars” just the stars shining together?

You Yisi smiled and said, ”I will work hard.”

……

It was already the next day when news of Yisi’s victory came back to Beichen Military Academy. The students who heard the news were very excited, holding the ”Star Law” journal and the verdict of the Bai Qing case, and were concentrating on discussions.

”I think this passage is wonderful. Free people should not be bound by the eyes of others!”

”No, I think it’s this one—people shouldn’t justify crimes they didn’t commit.”

”If this trial is won, the appeal against Professor Modi will be of great benefit.”

”Of course, even if it’s just a judgment made by a grassroots military court, it’s a major theoretical innovation, and the higher-ups have to take this into consideration!”

”I heard that many people have written articles criticizing Chief Xiao’s views.” Someone said worriedly.

”Idiot, it’s not a good thing if no one talks about a point of view, and there are many people who support him! Now our chief lord is really famous.”

Sade walked up to the podium, looked at the students who were still discussing excitedly, and cleared his throat.

”I don’t want to disturb your interest, but everyone, I want you to notice one thing. It’s already class time, this semester’s ability training class, do you still want to pass?”

The students quickly sat upright and looked at him.Seeing this, Sade laughed.

Xiao Yisi?

He thought, this kid is really a guy who can toss more than his father.

The entire Beichen, or the entire Republic, was in a commotion because of this small case.At this time, You Yisi had just set foot on the return starship, and neither he nor his knights expected it.What a turning point this action will bring to their fate.

Beichen is the main port of Xingxing, and the starship has just jumped in space and stopped at the port.

You Yisi threw himself through the floor-to-ceiling windows, saw the crowd gathered in the port, and asked in confusion, ”Why are there so many people, is there any fleet coming back from cruise today?”

Christie suppressed a smile and said, ”They’re not here to welcome the fleet, but they’re waiting for someone.”

”Waiting for someone? Admiral You Renyao is back?” You Yisi’s eyes turned to You Yanzhi.

You Yanzhi: ”...they are waiting for you.”

”Wait for me?!” You Yisi was taken aback, ”How do they know I’m coming back today, no no, why are they waiting for me, I’m just a student!”

Qi Xiu looked at him, ”Since you published two papers in succession on ”Star Law”, since you proposed that ’the defendant should not incriminate himself’, and since you defended Bai Qing and won the acquittal, you He is no longer a simple student.”

”Don’t you understand?” He said, pointing to the crowd waiting outside the window, ”Most of these are the families of the prisoners of the Third Fleet, as well as the residents of Beichen, they came for you.”

You Yisi was in a daze, until he stepped off the starship and heard the deafening cheers in his ears, he still hadn’t recovered.

”Xiao Yisi, Xiao Yisi!”

”Master Chief!”

People shouted his name excitedly, and Yisi even saw an old man greet him at the port with the support of his family.

”They are family members of soldiers who have been convicted or awaiting sentencing.” You Yanzhi whispered in his ear, ”Your defense of Bai Qing gave them hope.”

”However, I didn’t expect to save everyone, and the judgments of other cases may not be as expected...”

”You gave them hope, that’s enough.” You Yanzhi said.

Hope?

You Yisi looked at the expectant and grateful eyes of the people around him, and looked at their smiling or tearful faces. For the first time, he felt that the Beichen Galaxy is not a symbolic term, but is composed of countless flesh-and-blood people and families.

For the soldiers of Beichen, this is the place they swear to guard; for the people of Beichen, this is the home they are attached to.

You Yisi asked himself, is it such a heavy burden that I am determined to bear?Father, he touched the badge on his chest. Did you face countless pairs of expectant eyes like this time?

So sincere, so pure, it is unbearable to let people down.

”Xiao Yi!”

Isolde and Shen Yanwen were ready to pick him up at the port early.

”You’re finally back!” Shen Yanwen went up and punched him, ”I miss you so much! You really did something big, my dad knew about it, and even said that he would take you back as a guest when he had time.”

Isolde smiled: ”I know you can do it.”

Looking at the two friends, You Yisi smiled and said, ”I’m back.”

I’m back, Beichen.
