Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 985: The Billion-Dollar Box Office King Club

Tiger truly deserves his reputation as a top film critic blogger who has managed to stay popular across several platforms.

His video topped the trending charts on various platforms the day after it was released, and its views on Bilibili reached over three million.

The comment section below the video was also quite lively, and most people agreed with Tigerʼs evaluation, giving relatively objective thoughts on the film.

【Time Confrontation is indeed one of the better domestic sci-fi films in recent years. The special effects are fantastic, the plot is decent with some mind-bending twists and turns, and most importantly, the action scenes are incredibly intense, feeling like the budget is being burned every second. The main characters and villains are all super cool, and Mech 0010 is my new male god; it gives me a real sense of security. After watching it, I desperately want the same mech.】

【If you have kids at home, you can take them to see it during the Spring Festival. There are quite a few action scenes, but theyʼre not particularly gory; some scenes are clearly toned down, so kids can watch it too. Just be prepared for a hefty bill. After the movie, the kids kept asking for movie merchandise—those sets are really expensive, but you canʼt resist how much they love them.】

【The directorʼs skill level is quite good; itʼs not too stiff. As a new director, to make this type of film right away is, in my opinion, quite impressive.】

Not only did other netizens who were watching the Spring Festival movie lineup see this video, but most of the crew of ”Time and Space Standoff” also saw it.

”By the way, is our movie really like what Tiger said?”

The next day, Xiao He, who had also read Tigerʼs film review, fell into deep thought.

They are now in the airport waiting area, preparing to fly to several neighboring cities for roadshow events.

Xiao He just randomly came across this video before boarding the plane.

Unexpectedly, Iʼve only now realized that I donʼt seem to understand my own work that well.

I thought it was a science fiction movie, but now youʼre suddenly talking to me about the I Ching, the Taoist laws governing all things, and the principles of balance in the world...

Ahem—So, is it confirmed that itʼs not the experience and understanding of Chinese people thatʼs been exerting its influence?

”But to be honest, this idea is quite novel.”

Shu Han thought for a moment, then immediately forwarded the video to the group, and also made sure to tag Director He personally.

A few minutes later, their director, He, also replied in the group:

【Director He: What a kindred spirit! What a confidant! Heʼs using all my lyrics! How can anyone understand me so well?】

【Director He: Go and give this a like! I was originally going to message some film critics later and ask them to spread this word, but I didnʼt expect some people to actually figure it out. 【Thumbs up】【Thumbs up】】

【Xiao He:...So this interpretation was actually officially approved?】

【Shu Han: Liked.】

【Pu Rong: Who else, like me, still doesnʼt understand what this means?】

【Xiao He: Itʼs alright, I only vaguely understand it myself.】

【Director He: Sigh, as expected, there are too few people who understand me. This path is destined to be lonely.】

【Xiao He:...Iʼve liked this.】

Xiao He was speechless: ”Very good, Director He has finally gone astray. Why didnʼt you tell us these things before?”

Why are all the directors he encounters like this?

”Perhaps itʼs because under this pattern, neither the protagonist, the mecha, nor the villain knows theyʼve become part of the game.” Shu Han chuckled and patted Xiao He on the shoulder. ”So what difference does it make whether we, as characters in this story, know or donʼt? It doesnʼt change the outcome anyway.”

As for how to interpret a movie, everyone has their own unique perspective, and there is no need for a universal definition.

Itʼs just that Tigerʼs idea is closer to Director Heʼs own.

”Forget it, letʼs not talk about this anymore.”

Xiao He exited Tigerʼs video, checked the current real-time box office data again, and only after confirming that ”Time and Space Standoff” would firmly hold the top spot at the Spring Festival box office did he breathe a slight sigh of relief. Then, his gaze inadvertently swept to the comments section below—

【Finally! Iʼve done the calculations, and based on the current projected box office for ”Time Standoff,” this movie will easily surpass 10 billion yuan at the box office!】

【What?! Is Brother Xiao about to join the 10 billion yuan box office award club?!】

【Wow, I didnʼt even notice until you mentioned it. Itʼs only been a few years, how many works has he done? How did Brother Xiaoʼs filmography reach 10 billion?】

【But to be fair, Xiao Ge has already won the Best Actor award, so a box office of 10 billion is just a matter of time! Heʼs so young, and his commercial value is so high. I think any capital firm that isnʼt blind will definitely continue to flock around him; heʼs practically a cash cow.】

【Shu Han had already surpassed 10 billion, and now Xiao He has followed suit. Linghui Entertainment is taking off! With two actors who have grossed over 10 billion, their commercial value is so dazzling it keeps people up at night.】

【Damn, Iʼm inheriting the business luck of Linghui Entertainmentʼs boss!】

【Whatʼs there to take on? The bosses are just a few of them. They invested their own money and made it all back. Iʼm going to take over Xiao Heʼs career luck directly. Take it, take it, take it!】

Xiao He hadnʼt even noticed that these box office figures, once added to his own, had brought him directly to the 10 billion yuan mark. Now, seeing fans discussing this in the comments section, he was slightly taken aback, and then asked Shu Han, ”Brother Shu, when did you break the 10 billion yuan mark?”

When Shu Han heard Xiao He suddenly ask about another topic, he thought about it carefully for a moment and said uncertainly, ”It seems like it broke as soon as I came back.”

Although he always expressed regret at not being able to continue working with Liu Rulan, it is undeniable that since he returned from the United States and started working with He Wenming, He Wenming has indeed helped him find many important roles, and he is genuinely grateful to He Wenming for being his agent.

Furthermore, because his career path has always focused on upright characters, he has a much easier time getting scripts than Xiao He, making his path to becoming a billion-dollar movie star much smoother than Xiao Heʼs.

”Donʼt listen to his modesty. He had already broken 10 billion before he left. Itʼs just that we didnʼt care about these things back then, so the box office grew very quickly after he came back. Now heʼs almost at 20 billion, while youʼve only just broken 100 this time.”

Liu Rulanʼs voice came from behind them.

”The estimated domestic box office for ʼTime Standoffʼ has reached 4.6 billion yuan. With your previous starring works, I really want to congratulate you on officially entering the 10 billion yuan box office actor club.”

The ”10 Billion Yuan Box Office Actor Club” here is just an adjective, but it is also a very special commercial value label in the industry, and a goal that many actors want to emulate.

Furthermore, the 10 billion yuan box office they are referring to is not the kind of 10 billion yuan earned solely through cameo appearances, but rather the genuine box office revenue driven by important characters and personal branding.

Currently, very few actors actually hold this title (excluding those who use it for marketing purposes), and most resources are concentrated on a few actors, making it extremely difficult for new actors to acquire this label so quickly.

Even for an actor like Shu Han, it took many years before he finally achieved the publicʼs recognition of a box office of 10 billion yuan.
