Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 396: Variety Show Investment, A Fatherʼs Love Like a Mountain

By the time dinner started, Xiao He still hadnʼt figured out who President Huang resembled.

However, he roughly understood President Huangʼs purpose for investing in the variety show.

It was actually because President Huangʼs useless son started an internet celebrity company, but it hadnʼt shown any improvement in recent years. So, President Huang wanted to use this variety show opportunity to help boost the popularity of a few top talents from his sonʼs small company, to see if it could still be salvaged.

To put it bluntly, itʼs the pitiable heart of parents everywhere!

Under normal circumstances, President Huang wouldnʼt even glance at such a small project investment.

And within the same circle, everyone has major projects and big investments. Even Zhuang Hongyi had absolutely no interest in investing.

Yet, precisely for his own son, President Huang now took the initiative to invite Xiao He, asking the small company behind Xiao He to invest in their project.

As for why the old father didnʼt invest himself... a young masterʼs rebellious phase always carries some laughable arrogance and self-respect.

Anyway, Xiao He couldnʼt imagine himself, if his own father were this rich, still insisting on starting a business to waste the family fortune, being self-righteous and unwilling to accept his fatherʼs support.

Wouldnʼt lying flat and freeloading off the old man be better?
Xiao He silently criticized in his heart.

He hated rich second-generation heirs!

However, Xiao He still had some doubts in his mind, not understanding why President Huang chose him and Ling Hui.

— This matter probably could only be asked of Liu Rulan later.

Xiao He sat back in his original seat, preoccupied with thoughts, and noticed that Yuan Sitong and Yan Shaohan had already sat down separately.

”How did it go?”

Xiao He asked Yan Shaohan with great interest.

”Absolutely no problem!”

Yan Shaohan raised his head and gave a light snort.

Xiao He glanced at Yuan Sitong again and found that she was also very happy, pulling aside an actor she often gossiped with to chat about something, looking like she had scored a huge bargain.

Xiao He didnʼt know how they negotiated, but this matter was originally just a casual joke, not to be taken seriously, so he could only say: ”...As long as youʼre happy.”

Soon, all the dishes were served on the table.

Led by Zhuang Hongyi, everyone else stood up and together celebrated and cheered for the perfect conclusion of the first season of ”Corner Also.”

Even on such an occasion, Zhuang Hongyi was still dressed in casual wear, yet his gesture of raising the wine glass showed no timidity. Holding his glass, he slowly scanned the people present, his face filled with high spirits: ”The first season of ʼCorner Alsoʼ has been a great success. Matters concerning the second season and even the third season in the future still require the joint efforts of everyone here. Here, I, Zhuang, express my sincere gratitude to you all. I hope everyone continues to work hard, so we can together make the ʼCorner Alsoʼ IP even more perfect and prosperous!”

”Cheers!”

Everyone raised their glasses, laughed, downed the wine in their hands, then sat back down and began the formal dinner party of the evening.

This time, the table was also set with authentic Beijing cuisine. The luxuriousness of certain dishes far exceeded Xiao Heʼs imagination, even more exaggerated than last time when he ate at Director Zhuangʼs home.

Anyone who saw it couldnʼt help but exclaim, ”This Beijing masterʼs meal is something this lowly commoner has never seen in his life.”

And the most important point was... it actually really filled you up.

Adhering to the principle of ”since weʼre already here,” Xiao He insisted on getting a bowl of rice. Savoring their restaurantʼs premium tribute rice, pairing it with the delicacies on the table, he stuffed himself full.

Honestly, their rice was indeed more fragrant than ordinary restaurantsʼ. The grains were uniform, glossy, clear, and sweet, with a surprising chewiness in the mouth that made it more delicious the more you chewed. Xiao He felt that even if he only ate their rice, he could eat very happily.

He didnʼt know the average price per person at this restaurant...

Xiao He silently noted it in his heart, determined to bring his family here to eat later.

— Of course, he definitely wasnʼt just coming for the rice!

Slurp, so delicious!

Xiao He ate very quickly. Only after eating and drinking his fill did he finally have the leisure to hold his wine glass and toast to everyone present tonight.

In the blink of an eye, it was time after the banquet ended...

”Goodbye, Director Yan!”

Xiao He loaded the completely drunk Yan Shaohan into the car, then bent down and said to Assistant Director Fan Congwen by the window: ”Director Yan is entrusted to you, Director Fan.”

”No problem. I just didnʼt realize, Xiao Xiao, your alcohol tolerance is really good.”

Fan Congwen was also somewhat drunk, but compared to the puddle of mud that was Yan Shaohan, his condition was much better. However, seeing Xiao He looking completely normal, he felt quite emotional.

Xiao He just smiled without speaking.

”Oh, right.”

Before the driver started the car, Fan Congwen seemed to remember something. He raised his hand to signal the driver to wait, then leaned out again and said to Xiao He: ”Director Zhuang was a bit busy today. He asked me to pass on a message: we canʼt make it to the birthday party, so hereʼs an early happy birthday wish, and may your birthday party go smoothly. After the Spring Festival, weʼll head directly to France. Remember to prepare in advance.”

”Okay, I understand. Thank Director Zhuang, and thank you, Director Fan.”

Xiao He nodded.

”Then weʼre off!”

Fan Congwen waved again, ”See you later!”

”See you!”

After seeing off Fan Congwen and Yan Shaohan, not many people remained in the restaurant.

Xiao He finally returned to the car with Liu Rulan, ready to go back to the hotel in Beijing.

On the way, Liu Rulan asked about the banquet. Only when Xiao He mentioned that President Huang did her brows slowly knit together.

After thinking for a moment, Liu Rulan said: ”I know this President Huang. He is indeed a prominent figure in Beijing, known as a mountain in Beijingʼs investment circle.”

”And his son, if I remember correctly, is called Huang Junhao, one of the somewhat famous rich second-generation heirs in Beijing.”

”Heʼs also a legendary figure within the circle.”

Liu Rulan carefully recalled, her expression somewhat strange.

”Itʼs said that every company he opens goes bankrupt. Just the money Huang Junhao has wasted by opening companies amounts to nearly four billion.”

Xiao He: ?

Xiao He dug his finger in his ear to make sure he heard correctly: ”Say that again, how much?”

Damn it, how much did you say?

This is real money! Not just some random number! And what kind of losses could result in a pure loss of four billion?

Heavens, my heart aches.

For the first time, Xiao He felt a sense of possessiveness towards someone elseʼs money—give that money to me! To me!

”Ahem, this is also a rumor within the circle. Exactly how much was lost, we actually donʼt know clearly. There might be some exaggeration involved. But his deeds of opening companies and wasting the family fortune are indeed widely circulated in the circle.”

Liu Rulan first added a disclaimer to her words.

”I did hear that he started an internet celebrity company a few years ago, but then there was no news. I originally thought he had given up struggling and went back to inherit the family business. I didnʼt expect...”

Liu Rulanʼs expression was hard to describe.

So heʼs still clinging to his last breath.

Xiao He: ...

This truly makes listeners shed tears and onlookers grieve.

”Then his father... didnʼt discipline him?” Xiao Heʼs face was full of complexity. ”And is secretly supporting his son to continue wasting the family fortune?”

At this point, Liu Rulan also sighed: ”Itʼs understandable. President Huangʼs vision has always been good. His investments have always earned more than they lost. His vast family fortune was built up through his precise investment vision. Now his only son is a waste who loses money on whatever he invests in, whose companies go bankrupt, and who fails at every business venture. Itʼs only normal for him to be unwilling to give up and want to forcibly rescue him one more time, right?”

Her words plunged the car into silence.

Finally, after a long silence, Xiao He managed to blurt out what he wanted to say.

”Then his father... truly has a fatherʼs love like a mountain!”
