Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 392: From This Day On, Song Shenye No Longer Exists

Set.

The ancient town bustled with activity, pedestrians going about their daily lives as usual.

An elderly man with white hair, dressed plainly and walking with a slightly unsteady, trembling gait, slowly made his way to his designated spot. He meticulously straightened the beard on his face.

The audience below had already focused their gazes on him, casually sipping tea from their cups as they did so.

”The story goes that this Great Hero Song was originally the son of the former Martial Arts Alliance Leader, Song Yuntian. Yet, who could have imagined that in his eighth year, disaster struck. Over a hundred members of the Song Family were murdered by villains. Even Song Yuntian, the number one martial arts master in the world, met a tragic end within the manor. But this Great Hero Song miraculously survived, escaping alone. He then dedicated himself to rigorous martial arts training, vowing to exact bloody vengeance upon his enemies...”

”Who would have thought that the Alliance Leader possessed not an ounce of martial virtue? Seeing his imminent defeat in the duel, he secretly summoned dozens of experts to surround and attack! Yet, all witnessed Great Hero Song, wielding his Carefree Cloud Sword, his movements fluid as a swimming dragon. He fought from dawn until the third watch of the night, his robes soaked crimson with blood like cinnabar, slaughtering every single enemy on the field...”

”When the dust settled, Great Hero Song, leaning on his sword and bathed in blood, departed... and from then on, vanished from the martial world...”

The storytelling old man spoke with great detail and conviction, utterly absorbed in his tale. The listeners, clearly deeply interested in the major events that had recently shaken the martial world, listened with rapt attention.

When they heard how Great Hero Song had pacified a group of bandits and cleansed the entire Black Swallow Mountain, they cheered loudly. Hearing how he was framed and wronged, they burned with righteous indignation. Learning of his decisive victory in the martial arts conference, their blood boiled with excitement. Finally, upon hearing how his close friends and confidants had turned against him one after another, they sighed deeply at the unfairness of fate.

Although Song Chenye had only made his mark in the martial world for about a year, his deeds had already spread far and wide.
The martial world was filled with passionate souls who lived by its code: settle debts with vengeance, resolve grievances with retribution. That Song Chenye could act with such openness, fairness, and honor was truly rare. In contrast, the actions of his enemies back then were far from honorable or upright. Their current fate was simply what they deserved. No one would truly adopt a saintly attitude and criticize Song Chenyeʼs actions.

He truly deserved to be praised as a great hero!

It was at this moment that a man with a somewhat bandit-like appearance, fiddling with peanuts in his hand, asked, ”Since the major families and sects have now been severely crippled, and the Martial Arts Alliance Leader has been killed, who will take up that position next?”

Hearing this manʼs words, the storytelling old man paused slightly. Before he could answer, another busybody raised his voice and declared, ”Naturally, it should be Great Hero Song! He already won the martial arts conference, earning the right to challenge the Alliance Leader. Even if his actions were for revenge, that qualification should still be valid.”

”Right!” someone else chimed in. ”Great Hero Song is benevolent and chivalrous, with a heart of ancient virtue. He should rightfully assume the position of Alliance Leader!”

”Exactly! Great Hero Song is the most qualified to become the next Martial Arts Alliance Leader!”

”I support Great Hero Song too!”

Just as the scene was descending into chaotic discussion, on the verge of getting out of hand, the storytelling old man slammed his gavel down and coughed heavily. ”Ahem! Ahem!”

He coughed so hard it seemed to tear his lungs, his aged face flushing red. But he finally managed to recapture everyoneʼs attention.

Satisfied under the collective gaze, the old man stroked his beard and spoke with an air of profound mystery. ”Actually, that is not the case. In my humble opinion, with the Alliance Leaderʼs position now vacant, Iʼm afraid the situation is this—”

”There will be no more Martial Arts Alliance Leader in the martial world!”

The old manʼs words exploded like thunder, stunning the listeners and making their heads spin. A hot-tempered person immediately slammed the table and stood up, shouting in reprimand, ”You old man! What nonsense are you spouting? Even if Great Hero Song is unwilling to accept the position, our martial world is filled with countless heroes. The Alliance Leaderʼs position cannot remain vacant! A new leader will inevitably emerge in the future!”

This was pure alarmist talk!

How could there possibly be no more Martial Arts Alliance Leader in the martial world!

Others began whispering among themselves, most shaking their heads as if they didnʼt believe the old manʼs words. Some even sneered coldly, tossed down some silver, and left directly. Gradually, people began leaving the scene one after another.

”Old man, what basis do you have for saying that?” someone in the crowd asked.

However, the storytelling old man just shook his head, maintaining his enigmatic demeanor. He unfurled the fan in his hand and said slowly, ”Heavenʼs secrets... cannot be revealed—”

”Tch—”

Someone sighed with mixed emotions. Seeing this, others also got up to leave. The remaining tea drinkers turned their attention elsewhere. One by one, no one paid any further attention to the old storyteller spouting nonsense.

The old man wasnʼt angered. He glanced at the incense stick beside him, knowing his time was about up. Smiling, he cupped his hands in salute to everyone, then slowly began packing his things.

Just as he was packing, a hand suddenly reached over from the side, placing a silver ingot steadily on his table.

The storytelling old man was taken aback. He looked up at the handsome, exceptionally distinguished young man before him, then smiled, cupped his hands in a respectful salute, and said politely, ”Thank you, honored hero.”

”Youʼre welcome.”

The young man paused, then asked with a smile, ”How did you arrive at the speculation you just shared?”

The old man looked surprised, as if he hadnʼt expected the young man before him to actually believe his words.

Then, as if remembering something, he carefully scrutinized this black-clad swordsman from head to toe. Finally, his gaze settled on the sword wrapped in black cloth in the swordsmanʼs hand. A strange mix of excitement flickered across his face, but he ultimately restrained himself, offering another respectful bow. ”This old manʼs following words may border on treasonous. I must ask Great Hero Song to keep them confidential.”

”Rest assured. Please speak.”

Song Chenye gave a slight nod, unsurprised that the other had recognized him.

”The current Emperor is young yet accomplished, his methods swift and decisive. Furthermore, the borders are peaceful, and the people prosperous and well-fed. If the martial world were to grow too prominent and influential at this time... it might invite disaster.”

In that short sentence, the storytelling old man summarized most of what he could observe and deduce about the situation.

Song Chenye was quite impressed. ”Your insight is sharp, sir.”

”Haha, merely the ramblings of an old fool, not to be taken seriously. Great Hero Song, you flatter me.”

As he spoke, the old man bowed once more.

Song Chenye did not accept it, instead stepping aside to avoid the bow, saying helplessly, ”Thereʼs no need for such formality.”

”Great Hero Song may not remember, but you are worthy of this old manʼs bow.”

The storytelling old man lowered his head and spoke earnestly.

But for a long moment, there was no reply.

The old man looked up to find that the black-clad swordsman who had been standing before him had already left.

He smiled with admiration and continued packing his things.

Outside the teahouse, the young swordsman mounted his horse and slowly rode toward the city gates.

His gaze swept over the streets on both sides, appreciating the peace of this prosperous era. Suddenly, he let out a soft chuckle.

Martial artists were not under imperial control. They had even established a Martial Arts Alliance Leader who could command hundreds with a single call within the martial world, enjoying immense prestige. This had long been a thorn in the side of the one above.

Using the influence of Thousand Leaves Manor to lure him in, tacitly permitting him to eradicate the leading families and sects of the martial world, utilizing his quest for vengeance to vacate the position of Martial Arts Alliance Leader... were these not also the thunderous methods of that one above?

But it didnʼt matter. He and that person had never met. From beginning to end, it was merely a case of mutual exploitation.

Song Chenye silently tightened the binding on his Carefree Cloud Sword, ensuring its distinctive markings werenʼt visible. Then, riding his horse, he continued his slow journey along the street, fading into the distance...

Thatʼs fine.

From now on, there would be no more Song Chenye in this world.
