Thunderstorm Asthma? I’ll Just Drain the National Power Grid!

8: He jumped into the forbidden zone to take a bath, and the ice queen was stunned! The first day of training ended, and Lin Yuan felt like he was about to fall apart.

The high-intensity physical training made even his recently strengthened body a bit overwhelmed.

The most torturous part was that, although the Dragon Shield Bureau cafeteria’s food was plentiful and filling.

For him, it was just a pile of organic matter with no “flavor.”

He was hungry.

It was that kind of craving for electrical energy, originating from the depths of his cells.

Just as he was dragging his weary steps, preparing to return to his dorm to continue fantasizing about the power outlet, a voice called out to him.

“Lin Yuan.”

Su Wanqing appeared at the end of the corridor, he didn’t know when.

“Director Zhou has approved an opportunity for you,” Su Wanqing said concisely.

“An opportunity?” Lin Yuan was stunned.

“A ‘special extra meal.’”

Extra meal?

And special?

Lin Yuan’s eyes lit up.

Could it be that the Dragon Shield Bureau was being considerate to new recruits and preparing to issue welfare items like energy bars or nutrient solutions?

As soon as he thought of a bargain, much of his fatigue lessened, and he jogged to catch up.

“Beautiful Older Sister, what delicious food is it? Is it the legendary heavenly treasures?”

“...Shut up and follow me.”

The two, one in front and one behind, took the elevator and once again arrived at a deeper part of the base.

-20...-30...-50... As the depth increased, ancient runes began to appear on the surrounding metal walls.

Lin Yuan’s Electromagnetic Induction also captured an increasingly terrifying energy fluctuation.

“The place we are going to is the ‘Thunder Pool,’” Su Wanqing seemed to notice his unusual state and took the initiative to explain.

“Thunder Pool?”

“That’s right,” Su Wanqing replied. “Its core is a meteorite from beyond the heavens.”

“The Research Institute built this energy pool based on the core of that meteorite.”

“Its interior is filled with high-purity lightning energy, a top-tier facility the Dragon Shield Bureau specifically uses for lightning-type abilities, or for geniuses following the body tempering path, for their baptism and breakthroughs.”

Top-tier facility!

Exclusively for geniuses!

Lin Yuan felt a surge of excitement.

Isn’t this tailor-made for him?

“However, I must warn you,” Su Wanqing’s tone became serious.

“The Thunder Pool’s energy is extremely violent, far beyond what a civilian power grid can compare to.”

“Historically, there have been many B-rank and even A-rank geniuses who, due to overzealousness, had their meridians burst by the violent energy, causing permanent damage.”

“Even...”

“There are also quite a few cases of death.”

Su Wanqing paused, then continued: “The time you spend inside, and the total amount of energy you absorb, will all be recorded as part of your potential assessment, directly linked to your final evaluation score.”

Linked to the score?

Lin Yuan didn’t have time to ponder the deeper meaning of that sentence.

A majestic surge of energy had already penetrated the alloy gate and rushed towards him.

Every cell in his body was screaming!

Craving!

An unprecedented craving!

Gulp.

Lin Yuan’s Adam’s apple involuntarily bobbed up and down, and saliva almost drooled from the corner of his mouth.

“Ding—”

The elevator arrived.

The heavy alloy gate slowly opened.

An underground cavern appeared before their eyes.

The cavern was circular, thousands of square meters in size, with dense runes carved all over its surrounding walls.

In the very center of the cavern was a pool about ten meters in diameter.

The pool contained not clear water, but viscous... purple lightning!

Countless electric snakes swam and collided within it, emitting “sizzling” sounds.

Above the Thunder Pool, dozens of thick runic chains floated.

Each chain extended deep into the bottom of the pool, as if suppressing some terrifying existence.

An old man with white hair, wearing a white research coat, was sitting in front of the control panel, resting with his eyes closed.

Hearing the movement, he opened his eyes and saw Su Wanqing, and Lin Yuan behind her.

“Little Su? Isn’t today not your scheduled time?” The old researcher adjusted his glasses, a bit surprised.

“Elder Zhang,” Su Wanqing nodded slightly in greeting, “It’s Director Zhou’s special approval.”

The old researcher’s gaze fell on Lin Yuan, and he frowned slightly.

“A newcomer? Without even a rating?”

“To use the Director’s special approval authority just for him?”

He shook his head, his tone carrying a hint of confusion and a reminder: “Little Su, you should be aware of the Thunder Pool’s rules.”

“For a newcomer’s first entry, for safety reasons, we recommend wearing a protective suit.”

Protective suit?

Lin Yuan’s attention was completely elsewhere, not on the old man’s advice.

His eyes were fixed on that pool of purple “nectar,” feeling as if his soul was about to be sucked into it.

This was simply... an electrical buffet!

He didn’t clearly hear what the old man said, only turned his head, looked at Su Wanqing with a sincere expression, and asked a question buried in his heart.

“Um... is it all-you-can-eat?”

Su Wanqing: “...”

Old researcher: “...”

Seeing that they didn’t speak, Lin Yuan cautiously added, “What if... I mean, what if I accidentally eat too much and break it, do I have to pay for it?”

Su Wanqing took a deep breath, trying hard to suppress something.

She didn’t answer Lin Yuan’s idiotic question, but instead took a silver-white protective suit from the equipment rack nearby and threw it directly to him.

“Put it on.”

“This is a specially made ‘Insulated Repulsion Protective Suit.’”

She explained coldly: “How much you can absorb is up to your own ability.”

“But if the energy you absorb exceeds your body’s current tolerance limit, the protective suit will automatically activate a force field and eject you.”

“Understood,” Lin Yuan grasped the key points.

All-you-can-eat, and if he overate, they would even send him away safely, absolutely secure!

This service was too thoughtful!

He quickly changed into the protective suit, looking like an astronaut ready to land on the moon.

He walked step by step to the edge of the Thunder Pool.

Every cell in his body was cheering, leaping with joy.

Like a wanderer who had been away for a long time, finally returning to his mother’s embrace.

Comfortable.

So comfortable.

Su Wanqing and Elder Zhang, who were nearby, watched him with complex expressions.

There was curiosity, worry, and also a scrutinizing gaze, waiting to see how many seconds he could last.

Under their gaze, Lin Yuan stood by the pool, taking a deep breath.

Then.

He spread his arms, leaned forward, and like a professional diver, with a perfect posture, he leaped.

“Splash!”

He jumped directly into that liquid lightning.
