Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1673: Chapter 1667: Left-Behind Children

It’s no wonder Nangong Beiying thinks this way. She used to feel very lonely without her parents by her side. Later, after meeting Qin Xue and An Xiaochen, she had some companionship, but then her father sent her to the military, separating them again. Yet, they could still gather from time to time until she was discharged.

Before she came here, she felt she was no longer a lonely person. But now, seeing Qin Xue’s child so young, separating and reuniting with her parents repeatedly, she felt that such a life was a torment for both adults and children.

This cycle of constant separation and reunion, then separation again, is something only the children of soldiers experience. Therefore, Nangong Beiying thinks that being an ordinary child would be much easier.

“It’s not easy, but it’s their destiny. They were born into my womb, so they must endure this pain of separation. However, I try my best to keep them with us. Even if there’s nothing to be done from Chu Molin’s side, I must at least try to live together on my side,” Qin Xue felt that left-behind children were the most pitiful, so she didn’t want her children to become left-behind children.

“That depends on whether you can possibly keep them by your side.” In the previous life, there were many left-behind children, especially in mountainous areas. Because of the lack of economic income, parents had to go out for work, leaving children to be looked after by the elderly.

When the elderly take care of the children, many are busy with their own work, causing them to neglect the children. Young children, not knowing better, play by the river, resulting in many child drownings each year.

Nangong Beiying once participated in a rescue mission for a drowning child, and she remembers it was a sunny summer day. One day, while they were doing cross-country training, they passed by a reservoir and saw many people gathered there. At first, they didn’t pay attention.

It wasn’t until they got closer that they heard those people say a few children had gone to the reservoir to play and fallen into the water. By the time they discovered it and came to check, there wasn’t even a shadow to be seen. After the police were notified, all they could do was wait.

Later, Nangong Beiying and her team learned the general situation and the depth of the reservoir, and then they went into the water to rescue them. But since the children had been underwater for too long, by the time they retrieved them, they had no vital signs, having already become corpses.

Listening to the heartbroken cries of the children’s relatives, Nangong Beiying looked at the water-swollen bodies and thought that if she ever had children, she must bring them up herself and never let them out of her sight. However, plans often fail to keep up with changes. She had no children when she came here.

But thinking about it, she felt lucky. Otherwise, if she had children and then left that world, wouldn’t the children be pitiful?

Thinking of this, Nangong Beiying touched her still-flat belly. In another month, her belly would gradually show. By then, others would be able to tell she was pregnant.

Nangong Beiying wasn’t afraid of people discovering she was unwed and pregnant, but was concerned that Xiao Qi wouldn’t understand, causing trouble.

“The bus is here. Let’s line up for tickets and deal with everything else later,” Nangong Beiying’s thoughts were pulled back by Qin Xue’s words.

“Everyone, follow along, and don’t get separated.” Nangong Beiying noticed there were quite a lot of people. At this time, at this place, why are there so many people taking the bus?

“Miss, be careful.” Cloud came to Nangong Beiying’s side, protecting her as they walked to avoid others bumping into her stomach.

“I’m fine, no need to be so nervous.” Seeing Cloud’s mother hen-like stance, Nangong Beiying couldn’t help but find it both amusing and frustrating. She wasn’t that delicate.

“Better be cautious,” Cloud ignored Nangong Beiying’s words and continued to protect her as they walked.
