Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1652: Chapter 1646: Whose Fault Is It?

“Okay, this is my WeChat.” The man opened WeChat and showed the payment QR code to the female classmate for her to scan.

The female classmate picked up her phone, entered the amount, entered her password, and with a ‘ding’ sound, a notification popped up reminding her that the transfer was successful. Then she walked ahead with her stuff.

“XX, you transferred too much.” The man called out to the female classmate walking in front.

“US$ 80 is for your cake, and the US$ 250 is your tip. Also, let’s never meet again.” The female classmate walked away nonchalantly with the cake, leaving the man puzzled, watching her walk away, not understanding what she meant.

When the female classmate returned to the dormitory and told her friends about this incident, they were at a loss for words. Some said the female classmate handled it beautifully, while others said she went too far. After all, it was their first meeting; why should she expect the guy to spend money on her? Splitting the cost even seemed fair, and the man was not at fault.

But the female classmate just chuckled and didn’t share her thoughts. Since then, regardless of whether the guy called or texted, she never responded.

From the moment Nangong Beiying heard the female classmate’s story, she knew the female classmate did nothing wrong. If a man is stingy about spending even this little amount on a woman, can you really expect him to spend more on you in the future?

It would be foolish to think so. While there’s nothing wrong with newly acquainted men and women splitting bills, the female classmate didn’t buy things with the intent of not paying. She just didn’t have cash at the time and was ready to pay via WeChat; the man voluntarily covered it. Asking for money afterward made him seem petty; such a man is not worth having.

So, the female classmate decisively ended it, even giving him US$ 250 as a breakup fee. While it might seem insulting, he seemed to act like a “US$ 250″—a foolish person.

Eventually, the outcome proved the female classmate’s approach to be right; in the end, both found their respective partners and got married.

The female classmate led a very happy and joyful life, indulging in shopping and beauty treatments every day, without ever worrying about money matters. Her husband’s financial support was more than enough, and the female classmate, being capable herself, used her abilities and her husband’s money to invest, increasingly growing their wealth, and living a fulfilling life with her husband.

In contrast, she heard that the man’s wife lived a worried life, constantly asking him for money to buy groceries, lacking any financial independence, and living a bottled-up, oppressed life.

They would argue over spending an extra US$ 1 today and have major conflicts over the grocery money for tomorrow. Their life was a chaotic mess, far from peaceful.

Upon hearing these tales, the female classmate just smiled without judging whether they were doing right or wrong.

She only shared a memorable thought with Nangong Beiying. She said, “Beiying, do you know why I didn’t want that man at the beginning?

I didn’t want to covet the few dozen dollars from him. Whether a man is willing to spend money on you can be seen through his actions. I don’t care about that small amount; I care about if he truly loves me and is willing to hand over financial control to me.

I can earn money myself. Would I care about his little bit of cash? No, I care about the fact that he didn’t have the intention to build a life with me, so I decisively let him go.

Because continuing would just end up as you’ve seen now. Remember this: any man willing to hand over all his salary and bank cards to you, you should marry him.” (This story I read elsewhere, not my original creation. I’m sharing it here just to tell everyone not to let themselves fall into such a predicament over a small amount of money.)
