Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 985: Gathering Points

Xu Feng was blinded by their large point value, only to be struck down by the reality that their points were abysmally low.

Initially, he was still at a loss, but thanks to Carmen’s reminder. He wondered why he didn’t just go ahead to gather more points.

Either way, he planned on staying long-term in the Resonance City or returning after a while. In that case, points required for entry must be saved and stored.

Otherwise, wouldn’t their sufferings in the Hall of Resonance Trial be wasted if they automatically lost their right to enter the city?

Xu Feng had no intention of redoing a trial over and over again—much less a trial that had a different set of testing on each new entry.

”The missionary place is the logical place to gather points. But do you think our current strength is enough to succeed?” Carmen inquired. She didn’t want to sound weak or anything, but every NPC they came across was at least level 60s.

With their pathetic level, it would be hard for them to even gain the trust of a fellow NPC to give them missions to complete.

”Who said everything must require strength?” Xu Feng laughed and stretched his neck.

”Oftentimes the most straightforward missions are the hardest ones to compete for. And it’s not because one lacks the skill, but the competition is simply too fierce. It’s like a program has been inserted into everyone’s mind to choose only missions that require killing or gathering ingredients at dangerous places.”

Silent, Carmen found herself to be the same as those who got a program inserted into her mind, which Xu Feng spoke about.

Indeed, why did she think the missions available could only be for those who had the strength to do so?

There were also many other varieties of missions that didn’t require any fighting or exploration in dangerous places. However, most of them required specialization or knowledge in certain areas that weren’t common or difficult to learn.

It was also due to this that many were disdained to even take on such a mission. After all, strength was still the most important aspect. Who would dare to waste their life away studying something else?

”Right, we can just complete some blacksmith mission.” Carmen clasped her hands and remembered Xu Feng was also an experienced smither. He could easily craft and forge items on par with Crimson Heart.

Alas, Xu Feng suddenly flicked his fingers on her forehead.

”Don’t you know that a blacksmith’s mission is always about gathering materials in dangerous areas?” He scolded her. They were just discussing missions that many opted not to choose, but the first thing Carmen suggested was precisely a mission that many sought after.

To many, a blacksmith’s profession was sacred. Earning their favor would be a benefit that many would enjoy.

After all, blacksmiths could craft new weapons or other items that increased a person’s survival, but they could also repair one’s broken equipment.

Who wouldn’t want to complete a mission posted by a blacksmith—especially one with a high reputation and successful career?

”Oh, well, now I know.” She remained unaffected by his scolding. She knew that he wanted to make sure she remembered this kind of situation if she were to explore new areas.

”Anyway, have you taken up any professions?” Xu Feng changed the topic and asked. ”Profession is an important aspect for a player to progress further. So don’t think of it as some time-wasting. Of course, I don’t mean for you to focus solely on the profession. Just a bit of experience on it is enough.”

”Hmm, alright. But I don’t know much about the type of profession.” She spread her hands.

Based on her helpless expression, it was obvious that she never dabbled much into it. Other than the blacksmith profession which she had spectated Xu Feng competing at Paradise Plains, she hadn’t been exposed much to the rest.

Moreover, she was still taking the Divine World casually. Back then, she was simply playing around without studying much of the geography, mechanism, and gameplay.

Sometime later, the two proceeded to head toward the Missionary Hall.

”As expected, it’s overfilled with mercenaries,” Carmen uttered, feeling shocked by the scene.

It was a swarm of mercenaries who seemed ready to clash with others to steal their missions.

Just at this moment, another group of mercenaries arrived and nearly shoved Carmen away. Thankfully, Xu Feng reacted in time and pulled her to the side.

”Follow me,” he calmly said and dragged her to the inner section.

A few minutes later, Carmen was finally able to breathe with ease.

”How is the outside section so crowded, but the inside is desolate?” She was dumbfounded. There were so many spaces in the inner section, but the NPCs outside still decided to crowd outside.

”That’s because the inner section has missions that are more specialized. Also, this is to ensure the crowding wouldn’t affect the interior hall.” Xu Feng calmly explained.

Nodding, Carmen proceeded to skip her steps and checked out the list of missions.

”Let’s see...” Her eyes hovered at the large list that showed numerous professions.

Alchemist, Blacksmith, Runesmith, Herbalist, Miner, Beast Tamer, Enchanter, Divine Choir, Appraiser, Trader, etc.

Carmen’s head nearly turned dizzy from the number of professions that one could take in the Divine World. There didn’t seem to be an end to it.

While Carmen was struck in a daze, Xu Feng calmly walked toward the Herbalist Profession mission.

He didn’t bat an eyelid toward those who only offered a measly 500 points.

After learning how trivial those points were, he would be really foolish to waste his effort on them. Nevertheless, he still accepted some of the missions that he knew the answer to.

In the blink of an eye, Xu Feng already took on over 20 Herbalist Profession-type missions.

”Are you able to complete all of them with our remaining time?” Carmen was startled and asked curiously.

”Of course, we’re here to gather points. Once the points are gathered, you can proceed with the advanced training fee.” He responded with a confident tone.
