Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 760: Delayed Death

With the unknown phenomenon of all their scouting players going offline at the same time, they each felt a chill running down their spines.

Nothing was more frightening than facing the unknown.

This was especially so when these scouters were all players they trusted.

After all, scouting and gathering intel was something critical. They couldnʼt afford to put any untrustworthy folk in such an important department.

Therefore, something must have occurred for them all to be disconnected.

”One of Colossusʼ ancient skills, Delayed Death.” Xu Feng suddenly explained.

Sure enough, the look of confusion appeared on their faces. Of course, some who managed to keep their cool appeared more stoic such as Gentle Wind and Autumn Breeze.

Nevertheless, their stoic expression still couldnʼt escape Xu Fengʼs eyes.

What they appeared on the surface might not be the truth of what they were deep inside their heart and mind.

With that being said, he didnʼt plan on explaining what Delayed Death meant and planned on moving on.

”Ouch!” It was also at this moment that Zhao Kai suddenly screamed in pain.

As the attention shifted to him, Zhao Kai had a bittersweet smile while next to him was Autumn Breeze.

”Whatʼs the matter?” Xu Feng asked. Though he had already guessed Zhao Kai must have been hit by his eldest sister to ask what he meant by Delayed Death.

”What is Delayed Death, Honorary Elder? And how did that affect the scouting players to all go offline?” Zhao Kai scratched his head and laughed awkwardly.

Xu Feng shook his head and knew Zhao Kai was a hopeless soul. However, he still wouldnʼt answer their confusion for free.

”5 gold coins and Iʼll explain it.” Xu Feng cleared his throat and said. ”Times are tough and information is not free. Weʼre just in a business deal and not some ally.”

Almost immediately, Xu Feng received a blank stare.

Since he was posing as Lin Feng—the Honorary Elder and not the Acting Guild Leader. He could confidently behave in such a manner and they couldnʼt even do anything about it.

Just like that, Xu Feng filled his pocket a bit more with gold coins as he answered.

”Elite Boss Types are different types of monsters. Iʼm sure everyone is already aware of that and their intelligence is at the next level. So Delayed Death is a unique skill equipped in their arsenal to ruin players who thought they could just gather information about them without any consequences.” He explained.

”That still doesnʼt explain why the players went offline.” Gentle Wind furrowed her brows.

The other also nodded in agreement. They paid to understand how their players went offline due to the skill Delayed Death.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng was so exhausted that this bunch of players needed him to paint the picture crystal clear.

Couldnʼt they have used their brain and deduced the next part by themselves?

”What Delayed Death does is to lock the playerʼs communication skill and a broad scale form of utility item with the exception of some items and Mount. And just like the skill name itself, the player would meet their demise after a certain time unless they resolved the curse.” Xu Feng ultimately explained it in a way that even children could comprehend.

”Damn, so thatʼs why the scouts didnʼt report back.” Herald Fist clenched his fist. He couldnʼt have anticipated that the Colossus had such a skill up their sleeve.

”This is indeed a mistake on our part.” Both Night Coin and Dango Tiger realized that monsters were no longer just strong. Their intelligence was no less than theirs.

”They purposely used such a curse-type skill to avoid alerting us.” Gentle Wind sighed and felt a headache.

After all, Delayed Death was a curse-type skill. The curse would continue to trickle down a playerʼs health but the system wonʼt show it to them that it was in danger.

However, players affected by the curse would know about it if they checked their status screen. Although the scouting players probably realized they had been cursed, they definitely didnʼt have the item to cure the curse effect.

As for trying to report back, with their communication temporarily locked. It was destined for them to be unable to relay anything back to them.

Simultaneously, the respective Guild Leaders finally realized why they had to pay 5 gold coins for such information.

What Xu Feng offered was not the explanation of Delayed Death skill, but a fierce warning to them in the upcoming future. Their scouting and intelligence departments were severely lacking.

”Ugh, I thought I had equipped them well already.” Dango Tiger was frustrated by the situation. The scouting and intelligence department already received a big chunk of their funds.

Yet now he was being told it was still insufficient.

How could anyone accept such a situation?

It was the equivalent of using 1,000 dollars for a small renovation and then being told the money wasnʼt enough.

Not to mention, this consultant fee of Xu Feng was extremely exorbitant. 5 gold coins were not a small price.

”Anyway, you can vent your frustration for later.” Xu Feng quickly said and began his command.

”Tyrant Fist and Silver Legion will take over the left side. Make sure to do your best to eradicate the regular monsters. Lion Roar and Silver Wind will take over the right side and do the same.”

Soon after his command, the Guild Leaders simultaneously got to work and signaled for battle.

”Shadow Blade and I will tackle one Colossus on our own. As for the remaining three, have your Summoners and Tanks stall them only.” Xu Feng emphasized the goal was to stall and not defeat.

Colossuses were indeed powerful, but what they lacked was powerful AOE skills. Their skill range was equivalent to a melee class. This was something that was discussed beforehand and the Guild Leaders in their respective guild simply had to oversee the situation and lead from the back.

Their goal was to prevent the monsters from breaching the city, and not kill them all. So long as all the relevant Colossuses were killed or retreated, that would be the end of the siege.
