Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 752: I Alone Am Enough

Purple Flame and Iceheart were quickly alarmed when there was someone else sneaking up behind them. Alerted, they thought it was spies from fallen cities who wished to sabotage them.

Ever since the players who failed to defend the cities and suffered the heavy penalties.

Some became extremely vicious and petty. They went as far as migrating to other still struggling cities and purposely sabotaged them to ensure the city would fall.

After all, by ensuring many more followed the same fate as them, they could allow themselves more time to catch up.

Precisely because of such behavior, many struggling cities had players guard the Teleport Platform and the gate.

They refused to allow entry to any unknown players and would kill them on the spot to prevent the slim chance of them being a spy or evildoers.

Due to the chaotic situation, the internal conflict among the players within the same city had effectively stopped their hidden skirmishes. Although they all called a truce on the surface, the truth was that most still secretly plotted against each other to be on top.

However, thanks to these evildoers, it could be considered a first for the guilds to officially work together honestly.

Those who still refused to realize the grim situation, happened to have their city follow the same fallen state and ultimately regretted their foolish action.

”Who is it?” Purple Flame had her spells ready to attack the unknown intruder.

Similarly, Iceheart unsheathed her large Claymore Sword, ready to strike at them.

”Geez, no wonder your city is struggling. The perspectives and security in the city are severely lacking.” The unknown intruder finally deactivated their Stealth Cloak and revealed themselves.

Almost immediately, Purple Flame and Iceheart were stunned.

”When did you arrive?” Iceheart asked curiously. ”I had my people guard the Teleport Platform and the gate entrances. It shouldnʼt have been possible for you to slip through.”

”Well, then doesnʼt that mean you failed in your job?” The person who arrived was none other than Carmen. As a Voidmancer, she could manipulate the void space temporarily and shift through dimensions to arrive at a place. It could be considered a form of teleportation but in another type of method.

Such a skill was the specialty of a Voidmancer, and she had no intention of revealing this kind of secret either.

ʼFeng is really trying to overwork me.ʼ Carmen was in a foul mood. Aside from being assigned to oversee the townʼs construction. She was suddenly instructed to go to Red Forest City to defend it on behalf of the Phoenix Guild when she could finally take a break.

And as much as she wanted to refuse the command. She knew fairly well that if it wasnʼt an emergency, then Xu Feng would have never resorted to asking her to do something.

”Pardon my Guild Commanderʼs words, but may I ask when will your other companion arrive?” Purple Flame swiftly brushed aside the topic and continued, ”We hoped that we could know their arrival beforehand to ensure we donʼt mistake them as evildoers.”

Evildoers were now the common term labeled for the fallen city players who turned extremely vile and insidious. They were praised by fellow fallen city players but heavily despised by the surviving city players.

It wasnʼt even an exaggeration to claim a civil war among players might erupt at any moment.

While Purple Flame wished to prepare in advance and not mistakenly attack an ally, Carmen, on the other hand, was confused by her words.

”Iʼm sorry, but what are you talking about?” She tilted her head slightly and asked in confusion.

”Um, I was asking if you could kindly inform us in advance when your allies arrive.” Purple Flame smiled awkwardly and repeated herself.

”Iʼm the only one being sent here though,” Carmen revealed. ”I alone am enough according to my guild leader, so I donʼt know what allies you are talking about.”

”What? Youʼre saying the Vanguard Guild only sent you?” Astonished, Purple Flame nearly had an outcry. They spent a whopping 2,500 gold coins to recruit the guild for assistance. Yet what they received was just a single person?

However, her shock had yet to fade away when another personnel arrived at the scene.

”What are you doing here? Are you trying to break the contract agreement we signed?” Flame Bird held her weapon and glared fiercely at the unwelcome person, Dusk Sky.

”That should be my question.” Dusk Sky gazed at her.

”Does it look like Iʼm here to break any agreement when I didnʼt equip my weapon?” He continued.

Flame Bird clicked her tongue and clearly refused to believe Dusk Skyʼs words. Why would he have come here when the battle was about to begin?

”Flame Bird, step back.” But before the tension could escalate further, Iceheart suddenly commanded.

”But…” Frustrated, Flame Bird wanted to argue, only to notice Iceheartʼs fierce gaze. Having seen that, she reluctantly retreated in her steps, but her hostile gaze remained locked on Dusk Sky.

As Riverbane advanced forward with no hindrance, Purple Flame questioned his motive. ”What are you doing here, Dusk Sky?”

”Relax, Iʼm not here for you, but for Guild Commander Lunar Wraith.” Dusk Sky mused and turned his attention to Carmen.

He then bowed as a form of greeting and polite gesture. ”Our Riverbane Guild has been expecting your arrival and has already made accommodations to welcome your presence.”

”WHAT?”

Almost immediately after Dusk Skyʼs words, the people from Phoenix Guild were dumbfounded by the situation.

”Ah, you must be Dusk Sky.” While the crowd was stupefied on the spot, Carmen was rather calm.

”Is this some sort of joke?” Purple Flame raised an eyebrow. Did the Vanguard Guild seriously accept payment from both guilds?

While the situation was rather confusing for them, Carmen paid no heed as she stepped forward and declared. ”The Guild Leader accepted both payments and informed me in advance. The Riverbane and Phoenix Guild are to merge as one and just support me from behind. I alone am enough to handle the Colossus, so just make sure the residual monsters are taken care of.”
