Online Games: Billions Spent on In-app Purchases, Archery Becomes a God

Corrupted Black Cat: Increases lifespan and attribute point drop rate.Ye Xingyu walked on the road out of Linyuan City.

The scene was much more crowded than he had imagined.

The number of players leaving the city at the same time reached over four hundred.

This situation was normal today.

Due to the widespread promotion on major communities such as forums, live streaming platforms, and long and short video platforms, it was advertised that killing Dark Star Creatures could drop the lifespan and attribute points that players dreamed of.

This led to ordinary people in Xia Kingdom becoming increasingly enthusiastic about coming to Linyuan City to farm Dark Star Creatures.

Many ordinary people thought it was a rare bug in the game!

Which caused attribute points to drop!

Therefore, they rushed over to exploit the bug and gain benefits.

It also led to Linyuan City quickly becoming a popular city.

Ye Xingyu slowly left the city with the crowd.

His ears passively received the chatter of countless unfamiliar players:

”My cousin got a 2-month lifespan drop in the Corrupted Zone, and he specifically asked me to come and get longevity too!”

”Hahahaha! Will we really be immortal in the future? (｡ò ∀ ó｡)”

”I always feel like it’s fake, this is too damn ridiculous! You can actually gain lifespan by playing a game?”

”Who cares! We’re already here! What if it’s real?”

...”No matter what, it’s true that attribute points can drop, many streamers have directly shown their panels!”

...In their words,

many players were attracted by the increased lifespan and attribute points.

Because in other parts of deep space,

there was no mention of these two benefits.

Most players who came were full of anticipation.

Hoping to get lucky.

But Ye Xingyu shook his head and smiled helplessly.

”These guys, don’t they ever wonder if such a good thing would exist in the world?”

”Lifespan and attribute points just given for free?”

In fact,

Dark Star people and Corrupted Creatures can indeed drop lifespan and attribute points.

But players need to think clearly.

Where do these lifespan and attribute points come from?

The lifespan and attribute points that can be dropped

are actually all plundered from players!

All Dark Star people and Corrupted Creatures have a talent.

After killing a player, they plunder 10% of their remaining lifespan and cause a negative buff that reduces all attributes by 10%!

Lasting 24 hours!

The reduction in all attributes is slightly better.

After all, it can recover after 24 hours.

But the reduction in remaining lifespan

cannot be recovered!

Don’t think that dying in the game

is insignificant. Due to the strong binding between the deep space online game and reality,

when players die in the game,

10% of their remaining lifespan in reality will be deducted at once!

A young person who was originally 20 years old and could live for 80 years

will immediately lose 8 years of remaining lifespan if killed once by a Dark Star person or Corrupted Creature!

Which is 10%.

Unfortunately,

Dark Star has only just arrived for less than a day.

All Blue Star humans, except Ye Xingyu, are completely in the dark.

By the time players discover it,

it will be at least over 1 day!

Or even several days!

Only after someone pays the price

can other humans get this information.

Ye Xingyu hesitated for a moment.

In the end, he still did not spread this information on the forum.

Because he couldn’t explain the source of the news.

Most humans wouldn’t believe him either.

Finally,

it would still require some people to pay a visible, huge price

before this conclusion would be accepted by everyone.

In other words,

sacrifice is inevitable.

Ye Xingyu remembered.

In his previous life, it was on the morning of the third day after Dark Star’s arrival

that a mathematician from Xia Kingdom calculated that

dying once at the hands of a Dark Star Creature would result in a 10% loss of remaining lifespan... This life,

the result would probably be the same.

While he was thinking,

the ground beneath his feet, as he walked, suddenly turned pitch black.

Black soil.

This was a characteristic of areas corrupted after Dark Star’s arrival.

Not only would the surface of the Corrupted Zone turn pitch black,

even the monsters living within it would be affected by the corruption.

Completely eroded by the mysterious energy of Dark Star!

Thereby gaining the talent of Dark Star.

A group of people shouted joyfully:

”We’re here! We’re here!”

”Guys, let’s get to work!”

”I wish everyone a long life after today!”

”Hahahaha (*╹▽╹*) Thank you, I’ll take that as a good omen.”

...Players, feeling incredibly fresh about the Corrupted Zone, were all beaming with smiles.

Joking loudly with those around them.

Soon after, they dispersed.

Each finding a direction and heading deeper to hunt fierce beasts.

The path finally widened.

Ye Xingyu glanced ahead.

He spotted a narrow black line, about the thickness of a pinky finger, in the distance.

He walked forward along this route.

His goal was to obtain the power to extract attributes to reality.

Therefore, this action would definitely not be easy.

And it would take a lot of time.

As Ye Xingyu advanced,

his gaze was also closely gathering information about his surroundings.

Since he was not among the first batch of players to enter the Corrupted Zone,

in the current outer area,

he could hardly see a single monster or corrupted fierce beast.

The Corrupted Creatures in the outer area had already been completely eliminated by pioneering player teams.

Later players could only keep advancing.

Continuously delving into the heart of the Corrupted Zone.

Only then could they encounter fierce beasts... After some time,

Ye Xingyu had advanced a thousand meters.

The traces of Corrupted Creatures finally appeared ahead!

And they were currently engaged in fierce combat with some players.

At this moment,

Bai He, the vice-guild leader of Jun Luo Guild, suddenly initiated a voice call request!

Ye Xingyu accepted the connection.

Bai He’s voice immediately came through: ”Guild Leader! I have good news for you, our guild members have all been recruited!”

”A full 10,000 members! The guild was fully staffed in less than 2 days!”

”This speed is no less than that of the Goddess Palace!”

Bai He’s voice was full of joy and a hint of seeking recognition.

Ye Xingyu praised her: ”Well done! Tell the members to level up as quickly as possible and complete their second advancement soon.”

If the arrival of Dark Star and the tower of heaven hadn’t happened,

Ye Xingyu wouldn’t be so anxious.

But since the great challenge had already arrived,

he couldn’t hide.

He could only raise the requirements for guild members.

In fact, this was also for their own good.

Bai He agreed, and then asked: ”What about the village establishment token rewarded by the system?”

”Should we establish a village quickly? I heard that the Goddess Palace has already found a suitable place to establish their guild base.”

Ye Xingyu refused without thinking: ”That’s not important. We can find time to choose a place later.”

”I have a more important matter to attend to.”

Bai He: ”Okay, okay, I understand.”

”Oh, and one more thing.”

”Most of the guild members heard that Linyuan City can now drop lifespan and attribute points.”

”Many people have actively organized everyone to go to Linyuan City to farm monsters together, which is the first collective activity since the guild’s establishment!”

”Everyone is very enthusiastic about this activity.”

”What do you think?”

Bai He’s voice sounded a bit excited, eager to participate in this matter.

It seemed like many members were instigating her from behind.

But Ye Xingyu’s expression quickly turned serious.

He solemnly stopped her, saying: ”I don’t agree with this, the Corrupted Zone is extremely dangerous!”

”The current quality of our members is not enough for them to venture into the Corrupted Zone.”

”Issue my first guild leader announcement!”

”Prohibit guild members below second advancement from engaging with Corrupted Creatures and Dark Star Creatures.”

”Let them complete their class advancement first!”

Bai He immediately nodded: ”Okay, Guild Leader, I understand!”

”I’ll go issue the announcement right away!”

Ye Xingyu nodded in satisfaction.

He liked Bai He’s obedience.

It wouldn’t waste his time explaining.

The two quickly finished their call.

Ye Xingyu was able to put away his communicator.

And refocus all his energy on the Corrupted Creature in front of him.

[Corrupted Black Cat!]

Level: 28

HP: 9800 / 9800

Attack: 1400 ~ 1540

Defense: 420

Skills: Claw Strike, Shadow Rush

Passive: Erosion Lv1

...Ye Xingyu’s mood was solemn.

Don’t let it fool you, it was just a small cat that had been eroded by Dark Star energy.

But its health, attack, and defense attributes

had all increased by 25% compared to before corruption!

Corrupted Creatures are generally about 25% stronger than normal monsters of the same level and quality!

This was a significant buff!

And there was that passive skill, ”Erosion Lv1”.

It represented the degree of erosion by Dark Star energy.

At the same time, it also granted the Corrupted Creatures

the power to plunder human lifespan and attributes!

”For ordinary players, Dark Star people and Corrupted Creatures are too troublesome!”

This was the reason Ye Xingyu felt heavy-hearted.

Immediately,

Ye Xingyu stopped overthinking.

He aimed his longbow at the distant Corrupted Black Cat:

”Blazing Flame Arrow!”

”Whoosh!”

An ordinary arrow.

Pierced the Corrupted Black Cat’s lower back with lightning speed!

-15112!

”Meow!”

As expected, a huge line of fiery red numbers appeared above the Corrupted Black Cat’s head.

It let out a final hiss before dying.

Then its limbs went limp.

Falling to the ground unwillingly.

After the Corrupted Black Cat died,

there were no lifespan or attribute point orbs dropped as rumored online.

Ye Xingyu was not surprised at all.

For Corrupted Creatures to drop lifespan or attribute points,

the prerequisite was that they must first plunder lifespan and attributes from humans.

Only then was there a chance of dropping them.

According to statistics,

after eliminating a Corrupted Creature that had recently plundered lifespan,

there was a very high probability of dropping 50% of the lifespan they had previously plundered!

If 10 years of lifespan were plundered,

killing it immediately could drop 5 years.

The longer the time interval,

the less lifespan would drop.

The total range was between 0 and 50%.

This also meant that there would definitely be some wasted lifespan in between!

Regarding attribute points,

the drop rate was even ridiculously low.

Approximately one in 100,000!

Eliminating 100,000 monsters

might result in one drop.

If it was a boss-level monster,

the drop rate of attribute points could increase by 1000 times!

Which means one drop for every 100 bosses.

So Ye Xingyu, from the very beginning,

had no expectations whatsoever.

Naturally, there was no disappointment either.

His purpose for being here

had nothing to do with lifespan or attribute points.
