Daily Intelligence: Forced to Save the Beautiful President at the Beginning

136: Chapter 136 Singularity Recruits Troops to Climb the Top 100At Singularity Technology on Wednesday morning, the conference room door never closed from morning till night—having just finished the Southeast Asia operations review meeting for star path: reboot》, it was immediately followed by the ”Expansion and Globalization” all-staff meeting.

More than fifty employees squeezed into a conference room that originally only held thirty. Those in the back with no seats simply brought folding chairs to sit in the aisle, their notebooks turned to a fresh page, eyes full of anticipation.

Zhou Yurou stood in front of the projection screen, her off-white suit making her look exceptionally capable as she pointed a laser pointer at the ”Expansion Plan Map” on the screen: ”Currently, our company has 50 employees. With the success of star path》 going overseas and the explosive popularity of ‘star dream workshop’, the existing team can no longer keep up with the pace of business—after management discussion, we have decided to launch a new round of expansion, with the goal of expanding the workforce to 100 people within three months, focusing on recruiting three types of talent.”

She paused, the laser pointer stopping on the words ”Overseas Operations”: ”The first type is Overseas Operations Specialists, who need to be familiar with game user preferences in Southeast Asia and the European and American markets, and be able to independently plan localization activities. For example, the Indonesian Eid al-Fitr event for star path》 that we are going to promote next requires someone who understands the local culture to manage it. The second type is Localization Translators, who must not only be proficient in English, Indonesian, and Malay, but also understand game terminology to avoid low-level problems like ’skill name translation deviations’. The third type is International Legal Specialists, primarily responsible for overseas copyright protection and data compliance. For instance, the GDPR regulations in the European and American markets must be fully understood in advance to avoid pitfalls.”

A recruitment requirement table popped up on the screen, clearly listing the responsibilities, requirements, and salary ranges for each position—Overseas Operations monthly salary 15k-25k, Localization Translators 12k-20k, International Legal 20k-30k, with added benefits like ”annual overseas team building” and ”project bonuses.” Xiao Meng, an operations specialist who had just joined six months ago in the back row, whispered to the person next to him: ”The company is really going for it! The few companies I interviewed with before didn’t have such comprehensive benefits for overseas positions.”

”It’s not just about hiring people; we also need to build a system.”

Zhou Yurou switched to the next page of the PPT, titled ”Three Steps for Globalization Layout.”

”Step one: complete the formation of the Southeast Asia Operations Department within three months, expanding the Southeast Asia operations team from 5 to 15 people, while simultaneously setting up a temporary office in Singapore. Step two: complete market research for Europe and America within six months, connecting with local publishers to prepare for the launch of the European and American versions of star path》 and ‘star dream workshop’. Step three: establish a formal subsidiary in Singapore before the end of the year to absorb local gaming talent and build a ’localized + internationalized’ team.”

”I’ve already scouted the location for the Singapore office for you.” Gu Jingshen suddenly stood up from the back row, waving a folder in his hand. ”My Gu Corporation has two vacant floors in a commercial building in Singapore. It’s in the city center, only a ten-minute drive from Garena headquarters. I can give you a friendly price on the rent and help you connect with local headhunting firms to recruit locals who understand games.”

A small cheer immediately broke out below, and someone couldn’t help but ask, ”President Gu, does that mean there’s a chance for us to go to Singapore for team building?” Gu Jingshen nodded with a smile: ”As long as we can achieve a breakthrough in the European and American markets by the end of the year, never mind Singapore, going to the Maldives for team building is no problem!”

Song Zhiwei also added: ”My dad’s foreign trade company has already helped us contact domestic universities, such as the Foreign Studies University and the Communication University. There will be a special recruitment fair next week, focusing on recruiting Localization Translators and Overseas Operations. They can also help us with background checks to avoid hiring people with bad records.”

Just as everyone was discussing heatedly, Zhang Fan lightly tapped the table, and the conference room instantly became quiet.

He walked to the screen, his gaze sweeping over everyone present, his tone more serious than usual: ”Expansion is important, but one thing is more critical than hiring—after all new employees join, they must participate in ’Originality Awareness Training’, and old employees must also undergo retraining every quarter. This is the bottom line and cannot be broken.”

The screen suddenly switched to an old screenshot—it was a post from a certain forum questioning the ”plagiarism of Blue Whale Games” when star path: reboot》 had just launched, with comments still stuck at ”don’t make games if you have no original ability” and ”Singularity just relied on copying to get famous.”

”Everyone should still remember how long we were scolded when star path》 first launched because its predecessor was an old Blue Whale project.” Zhang Fan’s voice carried a sense of emotion. ”Although we finally cleared it up with evidence, during that time, our R&D team worked overtime every day under pressure, for fear of another mishap.”

He pointed to the ”Originality Training Outline” on the screen: ”This training will invite senior copyright lawyers in the industry to give lectures. The content includes ’how to avoid infringement risks’ and ’copyright protection of original content’. Liu Ruyan will also lead everyone in reviewing the original development process of ‘star dream workshop’—from the independent research and development of AI generation algorithms to the original design of the story framework, every step must be explained thoroughly. Let everyone understand that Singularity’s ability to get to where it is today is not due to taking shortcuts, but solid original ability.”

Liu Ruyan immediately stood up to agree: ”That’s right! For the AI generation function of ‘star dream workshop’, we did eight versions of algorithm iterations alone just to avoid clashing with similar products on the market. For the new open-world game to be launched next, the planning proposal has been revised five times, and even the character settings have been overturned three times, all to create truly original content.”

An overseas operations interviewee in the back row who had just passed the second interview couldn’t help but raise their hand to ask: ”President Zhang, I worked at a game company before. To keep up with the schedule, they would directly use free materials from the internet—our company’s requirements for ’originality’ are so strict, won’t it affect the project progress?”

Zhang Fan smiled, his tone firm: ”In the short term, it might be a bit slower, but in the long term, originality is the most worry-free—you don’t have to fear being sued for infringement, and you don’t have to fear players calling it a ’reskin’ or taking a big fall because of shortcuts. We want to be a company that can last ten or twenty years, not a small workshop making quick money.”

These words silenced everyone in the conference room. Many old employees nodded one after another—they had all experienced the days when star path》 was questioned for plagiarism, knowing the grievance of clearly working hard on a game only to be labeled a ”plagiarist,” and understanding even more the significance of originality to the company.

After the meeting, employees were busy forwarding recruitment information, and the HR mailbox received nearly a hundred resumes within two hours.

Zhang Fan stayed in the conference room to discuss the details of the expansion with Zhou Yurou, Gu Jingshen, and Song Zhiwei.

”For the Overseas Operations positions, priority should be given to those with successful cases, such as those who have done Southeast Asia game publishing, so they can get started faster.” Zhou Yurou recorded in her notebook. ”International Legal needs to find people who understand the game industry; ordinary corporate legal might not understand issues like ’virtual item copyright’.”

”I’ve talked with Liu Ruyan. The user base of ‘star dream workshop’ is still growing. The planning team needs to hire at least 5 more people, otherwise, new feature development will lag.” Song Zhiwei added, ”Also for the Technology Department, the server maintenance for the overseas version needs more manpower; we need to hire a few engineers who understand multi-node deployment.”

Gu Jingshen leaned against the back of his chair, twirling a pen with his fingers: ”The renovation of the Singapore office can start next week. I’ve already asked the designer to do it in the style of a game company, adding a game experience area to facilitate receiving local partners. By the way, would you consider adding a ’Hometown Map’ feature to the overseas version of the game? For example, allowing players to generate scenes of their own hometowns, like Lele did. It might become a new selling point.”

Zhang Fan’s eyes lit up: ”That’s a great idea! Have Liu Ruyan add this idea into the planning for the new features. It can both increase player stickiness and reflect our humanistic care—later when Lele is in her hometown, she might be able to see the mountain scenery she painted in the overseas version of star path》. How meaningful.”

The setting sun shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the conference room, casting long shadows of the several people.

Zhang Fan looked at the CBD buildings outside the window, his heart full of confidence—from 50 people to 100 people, from Jiangcheng to Singapore, from domestic hit to globalization layout, Singularity Technology was moving forward one step at a time.

He knew that there would definitely be difficulties on the road to expansion, such as not being able to hire the right people or problems with team integration, but as long as they held onto the bottom line of ”originality” and as long as the team worked together, there would be no hurdle they couldn’t cross.
