Daily Intelligence: Forced to Save the Beautiful President at the Beginning

105: Chapter 105: A plot even more outrageous than a short drama. The ”cold war” in the VIP ward had just subsided when a flurry of hasty footsteps echoed in the corridor, accompanied by Pei Yunxiao’s angry shout: ”Song Zhiwei! I know you’re here! Why aren’t you answering my calls?!”

Song Zhiwei’s expression darkened instantly, her fingers clutching the tissue tightening, causing bits of paper to fall onto the bedsheet.

Without waiting for Pei Yunxiao to push the door open, she instinctively rushed to the entrance and pressed her hand against the inside of the door panel, just in time to block his hand from pushing it open.

”This is not a place you should be, leave at once.” Her voice was devoid of any warmth, her eyes fixed intently on Pei Yunxiao outside, her breathing quickening slightly.

She deliberately blocked the way completely, not wanting Pei Yunxiao to go in and disturb Zhang Fan’s rest.

Zhang Fan had just finished his soup and was leaning against his pillows, resting with his eyes closed; she did not want this peace to be disrupted.

More importantly, she did not want Zhou Yurou to see Pei Yunxiao acting so inappropriately, nor did she want Zhou Yurou to think that she would actually be entangled with such an immature person.

Blocked outside the door, Pei Yunxiao’s chest heaved violently. His gaze darted over Song Zhiwei’s shoulder into the ward, and catching a glimpse of Zhang Fan lying on the hospital bed, the fury in his heart burned even brighter.

It was almost midnight, yet Song Zhiwei was still in this ”little white face’s” ward; could it be that this young lady actually intended to keep watch over this man?

No wonder she wasn’t even answering his calls! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!

He had long forgotten Zhang Fan’s status as the ”Singularity” boss, and to him at this moment, Zhang Fan was nothing more than an outsider who was seducing Song Zhiwei while he was away.

When it came down to it, he was still just a student who hadn’t stepped into society, hadn’t experienced the complexities of the business world, and prioritized romance above all else. He was convinced that Song Zhiwei was deliberately avoiding him and using another man to make him angry.

”Song Zhiwei, are you deliberately not answering my calls? Are you just waiting for me to find you here, to let me see you with him, just to anger me?”

Pei Yunxiao’s voice rose a notch. The voice-activated lights in the corridor were triggered by his anger, shining blindingly bright. ”Aren’t you being childish? To spite me, you actually associate with this kind of person!”

”Me, childish?” Song Zhiwei was so amused by his words that she laughed, a mocking curve forming on her lips. ”Pei Yunxiao, can you stop taking yourself so seriously? Who I stay here with has nothing to do with you.”

As the two were locked in a stalemate, Gu Jingshen, who hadn’t left, returned.

He had felt truly stifled in the ward just now; between the intense eye contact between Song Zhiwei and Zhou Yurou, and Zhang Fan forcing himself to talk about work, he had simply made an excuse about ”going to the restroom” and hid in the stairwell to smoke a cigarette.

Just as he returned, he saw Pei Yunxiao reaching out to grab Song Zhiwei’s wrist, looking as if he were about to drag her away.

”Young man, what do you think you’re doing, getting handsy!” Gu Jingshen strode forward and grabbed Pei Yunxiao’s wrist, his knuckles tightening with such force that he nearly crushed the other’s bones.

Standing at 1.87 meters tall, his muscles, developed from years of working out, made his suit look exceptionally sharp. Standing before Pei Yunxiao, who was only 1.75 meters tall and still carried a student-like air, he loomed like a small mountain, radiating immense pressure.

Pei Yunxiao struggled twice but couldn’t break free, beads of sweat forming on his forehead from the pain. Yet, he remained stubborn, looking up and glaring at Gu Jingshen: ”Who are you? Mind your own business! I’m talking to my girlfriend, is it your place to butt in?”

He didn’t recognize Gu Jingshen, only thinking that this person was dressed well but looked fierce, likely a helper Zhang Fan had brought in. He was even more convinced that Song Zhiwei had been ”seduced” by Zhang Fan.

”Your girlfriend?” Gu Jingshen raised an eyebrow and increased the pressure in his hand, a slight ”creak” audible from Pei Yunxiao’s wrist. ”I think you haven’t woken up yet.”

He paused, then took a step forward, his aura so overwhelming that Pei Yunxiao couldn’t help but step back, his back hitting the corridor railing with a dull ”thud.”

Gu Jingshen stared into his eyes, his tone filled with mockery: ”And another thing, who am I? I am Zhang Fan’s friend, Gu Jingshen.”

Pei Yunxiao cried out in pain, ”Ouch, ouch,” sweat beading on his forehead, but he still refused to back down: ”Gu Jingshen, never heard of you. I’m warning you! I’m in a bad mood right now! You dare put on airs here? Believe it or not, I’ll make sure you can’t stay in Jiangcheng!”

Gu Jingshen couldn’t help but laugh. Having mixed in Jiangcheng’s wealthy circles for so many years, he knew almost everyone in the younger generation. Although this kid in front of him was wearing a designer suit, he didn’t look familiar at all.

Thinking back to how the yellow-haired guy had hurt Zhang Fan, it was highly likely that Pei Yunxiao was involved. Now that this kid dared to come and provoke them, he was simply courting death.

”Make sure I can’t stay?” Gu Jingshen released his hand but stepped forward, his aura forcing Pei Yunxiao to retreat. ”The matter of the yellow-haired guy hitting my brother, that’s your responsibility, right! I haven’t even settled the score with you yet, and you’ve delivered yourself to my door. What, you think my brother has no one to protect him, is that it?”

Pei Yunxiao was startled by his imposing manner but still forced himself not to show weakness, pointing at Song Zhiwei and shouting: ”Don’t spout nonsense! The yellow-haired guy hitting someone has nothing to do with me. Song Zhiwei is my girlfriend! You ask her, how much she loves me! That friend of yours, Zhang Fan, is just a tool she’s using to make me angry!”

Fearing that Gu Jingshen wouldn’t believe him, he quickly tugged at his suit collar to reveal the brand label inside, his tone full of boasting: ”See that? This is an imported Italian suit, worth over 800,000, Zhiwei bought it for me! Her supplementary card is still in my hands right now, I can swipe it however I want!”

He thought this would make Gu Jingshen wary and make Song Zhiwei soften, but he didn’t expect Gu Jingshen to laugh out loud upon hearing it, the mockery in his eyes practically overflowing.

”Heh, an 800,000 suit, and a supplementary card you can swipe at will?” Gu Jingshen shook his head, feeling that this plot was more absurd than any short drama he had ever seen. ”You’re the first person I’ve ever met who can talk about mooching off a woman with such self-righteousness. Miss Song, your taste... is truly unique.”

Gu Jingshen said that last sentence with a sarcastic tone, clearly having developed an opinion of Song Zhiwei as well.

In his view, no matter how noble Song Zhiwei’s status might be, being entangled with a man who relied on a woman for his food and clothing was truly degrading.

Song Zhiwei’s face instantly flushed red, half from anger and half from shame.

Pei Yunxiao’s boasting felt like a slap in the face, striking her hard and making her unable to hold her head up in front of Gu Jingshen and Zhou Yurou.

Looking at Pei Yunxiao’s smug face and remembering that she had actually felt soft-hearted toward him before, the anger in her heart could no longer be contained.

”Slap!”

The crisp sound of a slap rang out in the corridor, sounding exceptionally harsh.

Pei Yunxiao was stunned by the blow, standing there dumbfounded while clutching his face, one cheek swelling up at a visible rate.

He looked at Song Zhiwei in disbelief, his voice trembling: ”You dare hit me? Song Zhiwei, you actually dare to hit me?”
