Catastrophic necromancer

Chapter 4669: No Destruction, No Rebirth

The “Leaf of the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree” this also meant there existed such a tree, the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree, and this leaf came from it.

“Primal Chaos Spirit Tree… Primal Chaos…”

Lin Moyu murmured, first thinking of the Chaos Gem, and now encountering the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree. Did the words “Primal Chaos” have some special meaning?

The Chaos Gem heard Lin Moyu speak, “Master, were you calling me?”

Lin Moyu asked, “Do these words ’Primal Chaos’ have any particular meaning?”

The Chaos Gem was confused, “What do you mean, Master?”

It was clear he didn’t understand.

Lin Moyu explained, “This leaf is called the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaf, meaning there’s a tree by that name. Doesn’t that strike you as odd?”

“Primal Chaos Spirit Tree, I’m the Primal Chaos Gem… Maybe just a coincidence?”

The Chaos Gem fell into thought but could not piece anything together. “Is it a coincidence?”

Lin Moyu didn’t believe in such coincidences; the higher one went, the fewer coincidences there were, so this couldn’t be one.

The Chaos Gem asked, “Does this leaf do anything special?”

Lin Moyu said, “Its most basic function is to extend the lifespan of a world by about five to ten times.”

The Chaos Gem was surprised, “That effective? Most treasures of this type only double a world’s lifespan at best.”

Lin Moyu nodded. “But to achieve a full tenfold extension, you have to merge it into the world before its life or death tribulation. That’s quite the gamble, and nearly impossible.”

Indeed, if you tried before the world’s tribulation but the world still perished, the effort was wasted.

Also, how could you secure the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaf for a particular world before its tribulation? It was nearly impossible.

So, the notion of tenfold was the ideal, but almost no one achieved it.

Even if infused during the tribulation, you could get seven or eight times the lifespan. Afterward, at best, fivefold.

No matter how good the treasure, luck played an enormous role.

The Chaos Gem’s eyes glittered. “Master, why not fuse it with Spirit God Heaven?”

Right now, Spirit God Heaven was still in its initial state; its tribulation hadn’t started, so this was the best possible time. The Chaos Gem almost felt it was made for Lin Moyu.

Lin Moyu shook his head, “I don’t plan on fusing it with the world.”

The Chaos Gem was puzzled, “Why not?”

Lin Moyu said, “No matter how many tribulations my world survives, even with ten times the lifespan, it will eventually die. Living for thirty billion years, or three hundred billion, is all the same to me.

“If life, then live eternally not just for extra billions of years while loved ones all perish and I remain alone within an empty world. That’s not what I want.”

The Chaos Gem understood Lin Moyu’s mindset and found it entirely in character. “Then what’s your plan, Master?”

Lin Moyu replied, “It has another function: reproduction. If the conditions are right, it can propagate. I’m going to entrust it to Little Tree so it can try to multiply it. Maybe I’ll get even more Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaves.

“And perhaps, in the process, Little Tree itself may undergo some unexpected transformation.”

Lin Moyu had a bold idea: Could Little Tree, using this leaf, evolve again into a true Primal Chaos Spirit Tree?

It would be extremely difficult and the odds were slim, but Lin Moyu thought, “As long as you try, even if you fail, it’s worth it.”

He didn’t know the exact requirements and materials for the leaf to multiply; rather than guess, he chose to let Little Tree decide.

He brought the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaf before Little Tree in Spirit God Heaven and explained everything in detail.

Little Tree said softly, “Master, I can’t guarantee success.”

Lin Moyu smiled, “Don’t worry about guarantees just try. If it works, great. If not, so be it. Even if we lose out, it’s a small loss, not crippling.

“If you do succeed, your potential will be limitless so much greater than now.”

Little Tree replied, “I’ll try!”

He wrapped the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaf with a sprout grown from his own trunk.

Little Tree poured his unique power into the leaf, which instantly erupted with intense purple light.

The purple light illuminated Little Tree, turning him purple as well.

Immense power from Little Tree surged into the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaf. At the same time, within Spirit God Heaven, storms raged, and waves of Primordial Energy formed vortices that rushed into Little Tree.

He devoured the primordial energy like a bottomless pit, no matter how much came, he absorbed it all.

In the past, this would have made Little Tree explode, but now, the energy only circulated through him before ultimately being swallowed by the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaf.

Lin Moyu was generous, sending as much primordial energy as needed.

The energy cycled through Little Tree, picking up a trace of his aura before being absorbed by the leaf. In this process, the leaf and Little Tree slowly merged.

Little Tree’s lush green leaves fell off one after another, turning into dust.

The world fruits also fell, turning to dust as well.

Even the evolving Spirit of Chaos halted its transformation.

Soon, Little Tree was nothing but a bare trunk, no leaves or fruit.

A bit later, his thick branches began to wither and also disintegrated into dust.

Lin Moyu frowned, “Little Tree, are you alright?”

Little Tree replied, “I’m fine. I feel good.”

He couldn’t describe what was good, only that he was not in danger.

He realized all the lost branches, leaves, fruit they’d simply been discarded, like waste.

Lin Moyu watched, sensing Little Tree undergoing a transformation more profound than he had experienced upon his own advancement a transformation that could only happen by destruction and rebirth.

When all the branches had become dust, it was the trunk’s turn. The trunk withered and also became dust.

Soon, there was nothing but ashes, and atop them, the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaf with a few buds drifted to Little Tree’s roots.

The roots also became dust.

In a short time Little Tree was reduced to a pile of ashes.

Lin Moyu did nothing; his link to Little Tree remained perfectly unbroken in fact, it was stronger than before.

There was no change in his number of rebirths, still at maximum.

This meant no danger.

Above the ashes, the Primal Chaos Spirit Tree Leaf was dazzling.

After a moment, a touch of green sprouted from the ashes a bright green branch holding the leaf pierced forth.

In that instant, it was as if sunlight broke through the clouds new life was born.

Lin Moyu breathed a sigh of relief, “Truly, without destruction, there is no rebirth.”
