Catastrophic necromancer

Chapter 4662: Big Brother, I’m Back

The world of Azure Dragon had originally been in a state of slow collapse. After countless eons, only half had crumbled. At that rate, it could have lasted another hundred billion years without issue. But now, it was rapidly falling apart, all because of its former master, Azure Dragon.

Azure Dragon was using the world core and accelerating the world’s demise to gain immense power.

The price was high, but he had no other option. If he didn’t, he’d soon be completely refined by the World Scorching Fire. His soul was hiding within the world core, but now that core was a trap, the World Scorching Fire wrapped around it, steadily invading and blocking every escape.

As the world shattered, tremendous powers surged from all around, flooding into the core.

Azure Dragon’s remnant soul suddenly grew much stronger he was the master of this world, once having refined it, leaving fragments of his soul everywhere. Now, these fragments merged, temporarily boosting his soul.

Growing stronger, he tried to break out, smashing repeatedly into the World Scorching Fire. The fire flickered wildly under the onslaught of soul power, and the refining speed fell behind, a passage forcibly opened.

“Can’t let him out!”

Lin Moyu knew that if Azure Dragon’s soul and body merged, his power would soar. Even at one percent of former strength, a supreme being would be unstoppable. Although Lin Moyu’s undying state might save him, Sovereign September likely wouldn’t survive. Plus, if soul and body merged, Azure Dragon could instantly destroy the whole heavens, skipping even the “world ruin” phase Lin Moyu would be doomed to fall straight into the Forbidden Life Zone, where who knows if he’d be immortal anymore.

“Harmony!”

A thought flashed to the Chaos Gem Lin Moyu trusted the gem would know what to do.

On the Calamity Staff, the Soul Gem suddenly lit up, sending a yellow beam out to the core and forming a yellow ring covered with vortices, set to devour any soul that touched it.

The Soul Gem could not only defend against soul attacks, it could devour souls.

With this, even if Azure Dragon’s remnant soul escaped the World Scorching Fire, it would be devoured by the gem. There was no way to merge body and soul now.

Lin Moyu kept fighting Azure Dragon’s body each punch landing, his advantage was his undying state and new life ability from his talent, so he hardly fell behind at all.

Inside the array, Sovereign September could only stare in shock her sharp eyes could now tell who was superior and what Lin Moyu was actually doing.

Most shocking of all, the Calamity Staff actually reacted.

“I remember in the old days, the Calamity Sovereign could only smash people with it, never draw out its real power. He’s only peak Chaos Realm, how can he use it? There must be something else going on…”

“Could he be the Calamity Sovereign’s reincarnation?”

Sovereign September’s doubts grew a sense that the Calamity Sovereign had hidden something long ago, and was this Lin Moyu merely a successor or truly a reincarnation?

Questions swirled, but she dared not leave the array deadly mists were everywhere, and leaving meant certain death.

Azure Dragon finally forced his way past the fire’s blockade but in the next instant, he was plunged into despair, as the Soul Gem’s devouring began. The hard won soul was instantly sucked in, with no limit to what the gem could devour.

A fierce dragon’s roar echoed, mixed with soul screams and the rumbles of the crumbling world. Whether fleeing or hiding, Azure Dragon’s fate was destruction; with Lin Moyu’s fire taking the initiative, the end had long been fated.

The roars faded, the soul reached its end, and as the world’s collapse slowed, Azure Dragon’s vast body turned to smoke and vanished.

Lin Moyu hovered in the air, purple light coiling around him he’d just been reborn once more.

His expression was like still water: “You should have perished ages ago. All your scheming led to this anyway.”

To him, surviving as a remnant soul in the core for eons was not living, but a fate worse than death.

With his soul now gone, the body, once infused with the world’s strength, fell apart with it.

Originally, the world was only half collapsed; now most of it was gone, and full destruction was near.

If not for a strange treasure in the core, the world would’ve crumbled completely, not even rubble left behind.

Now, the World Scorching Fire began to refine the entire world. Previously, it had only refined fragments in other ruined worlds, always from broken world cores. This time the core was nearly intact a real feast for the fire, possibly another power boost on the way.

The Calamity Staff joined in, absorbing the primordial breath of the world core.

Each world’s primordial breath was different, giving each world gem its own flavor and effect.

Lin Moyu watched as the core gradually melted and shrank, until two objects inside were revealed.

He reached out and drew them both into his hand.

One was a green jade, the size of a fingertip, and the other, a leaf.

Without checking them immediately, Lin Moyu stored them away.

At that moment, the world again started to shake without control without the strange treasure, collapse accelerated. He was seeing the world’s final moments.

With the end coming, the tunnels once connected to other worlds became visible.

Most were shattered, but one, the original way he’d entered, remained whole.

Lin Moyu stepped into the array, gripped the Calamity Staff, and covered the formation with his power. “Go!”

He packed up the array and, at the last instant, escaped through the spatial tunnel.

In the passage, he could feel the world dissolving some terrifying force quickly erased every trace of what had existed. The world turned into a forbidden death zone, guaranteed to kill any who entered.

Even the tunnel started to collapse, but he moved even faster and outpaced destruction.

Without stopping, he sped along the passageway, until at last the familiar aura swept over him, and they returned to the Chaotic Wilderness.

The instant they entered, Sovereign September’s soul avatar transformed into a stream of light and merged back with her body.

A Sovereign’s presence rose up; after tens of thousands of years, she was finally back.

Moments later, she opened her eyes, twin stars glinting, and looked around.

The undead army was gone retracted by Lin Moyu. The only ones present were him and the delighted Sovereign Sun.

“Big brother, I’m back!”
