Help! The Villainess Trapped in the Beast World's Drama!

Chapter 798: Chapter 647: Secrets of the Past (Part 2)

A middle-aged Beastman in a white lab coat bowed respectfully, ”It’s still the old place, your private treatment room is ready.”

”Hmm.” Yue Lin nodded and walked into the room.

The room was entirely white, with a faint smell of disinfectant and medicine in the air.

Yue Lin sat on the chair, skillfully rolled up his sleeve to reveal his arm, and looked at the staff not far away who were preparing to draw blood.

He examined those sophisticated instruments, a trace of contemplation passing through his eyes.

The branch and experimental base of Hand of Creation established in the Royal City remain confidential to this day; most of the Upper-level Beastmen are unaware, with only a very few knowing of this place.

But for Yue Lin, this place was exceptionally familiar.

He would come at least once a year for a physical examination.

There was a special relationship between him and the laboratory.

The coverage rate of the Alien Star Wasteland Zone had reached 90%, and pollution continued to spread, further reducing the living space for Beastmen. The harsh environment also led to an increase in the contamination level of Beastmen’s bodies, and for nearly a thousand years, the fertility rate among the various major races has been decreasing.

More frighteningly, the stronger the Beastman, the more gifted they are, the harder it is for them to conceive offspring.

Especially among the aristocratic families, the fertility rate had been nearly halved.

This was by no means good news, and it even concerned the survival of the race.

Yue Lin’s safe birth was a strenuous process, it was thanks to the cooperation between his parents and the Hand of Creation laboratory that he was brought into this world.

At that time, the head of the Moon Wolf Clan, Yue Zan, and his wife Pei Xi had been in love for many years, yet remained childless. It was said that the lady had once conceived, but the fetus was unstable, and after much effort, it was lost.

As they grew older, both over thirty, all visits to renowned doctors were in vain.

In the end, perhaps out of desperation, the couple, who initially resisted the idea of Hand of Creation, chose to cooperate with the laboratory.

With the laboratory’s help, through unknown methods, the lady finally became pregnant again.

This second child was Yue Lin.

During the pregnancy, everything was stable, there was no occurrence of the miscarriage that happened in less than half a month with the first pregnancy.

The couple was very grateful and gradually let go of their previous prejudices, beginning to trust the Hand of Creation.

Unfortunately, an accident still happened later on, when the lady showed signs of premature labor after more than a month of pregnancy.

Normally, the child probably couldn’t be saved.

But the Hand of Creation Laboratory took over this emergency situation and ultimately saved the child who had been pronounced dead.

Since then, the head of the Moon Wolf Clan officially collaborated with Hand of Creation, establishing a branch in the Royal City, thus binding the two forces together.

However, the laboratory considerately indicated that since Yue Lin was a premature baby, there might be undiscovered latent genetic diseases or other hidden dangers, so to prevent any issues in the future, he must regularly undergo health examinations.

Even once he became an adult, he still had to be examined at least once a year.

Yue Lin was annoyed by these endless check-ups.

He never felt there was anything wrong with his body, given his strength and talent, he was undoubtedly a favored child of destiny, certainly not a sickly child soaked in a jar of medicine!

But because of his parents, he never spoke out, nor did he suspect anything.

Until one day, something happened that made him vaguely realize, these ”health examinations” might not be as simple as they seemed.

Yue Lin, with his noble status, outstanding appearance, and strong talent, had been pursued since childhood. Among them, a noble female named Vilo pursued him most fervently.

This wasn’t unexpected, except Vilo’s background was somewhat special; she was the daughter of Linda, Yue Lin’s mother Pei Xi’s close friend.

The two had known each other since childhood, and it was Linda who played matchmaker.

Linda had a great relationship with the clan head’s wife and often visited.

When Yue Lin was five or six years old, Linda would bring her daughter over, and while the two ladies chatted, they would let the children play together.

Perhaps it was an illusion, but at first sight, Vilo was particularly enthusiastic towards Yue Lin, seemingly determined to marry him.

Due to the Beast Mothers’ friendship, Yue Lin had a good impression of Linda, and upon growing up learning of Vilo’s affection, he couldn’t refuse her as coldly as he did to others, which only gave Vilo hope, making her pursue him relentlessly!

Finally, one day, Yue Lin, utterly exasperated, officially rejected her.

His words were even quite unkind.

The proud noble young lady, Vilo, had never suffered such grievance, so angry that she said without thinking, ”With a lady of my heritage and looks, what male can’t I have? Do you really think I fancy you? If it weren’t for my mother making me do this, I’d never lower myself to appease you!”

”Do you really think you’re so noble? Your whole family is being played like fools! Back then, your mother also...”
